Chapter 312: 312 Xu Boyan: Baby, I was wrong_1

Jia Xiaoling looked at Gu Yansi in astonishment. Did Gu Yansi, too, feel the need to defend the girl named Lu Qingyi?

Everyone who knew Gu Yansi knew that he was cold-natured, extremely so when it came to dealing with girls.

"Did I say anything?"

Jia Xiaoling looked innocently and pitifully at Gu Yansi and Lu Jiahao, her voice weak.

Was this woman, Lu Qingyi, really worth everyone else’s protection?

Jia Xiaoling did not understand. It might be more accurate to say, however, that she was just jealous.

Lu Jiahao shot a glance at Jia Xiaoling. "Watch your mouth!"

Ha, as if he couldn’t detect the insinuations in Jia Xiaoling’s words.

He found it all so bewildering.

"If you want to graduate comfortably from Hardrick, don’t go about making careless comments. Otherwise, the day you get inexplicably expelled, don’t come crying to us."

Lu Qingyi was a professor at Hardrick. If she found out about this and was displeased, expulsion would be a completely natural consequence.

Jia Xiaoling bit her lip slightly, not saying anything as she looked at Gu Yansi.

Abuse of personal authority?

Jia Xiaoling knew that Lu Qingyi was a professor at Hardrick and that professors had the authority to expel students.

"The two of you..."

With her lips bitten, Jia Xiaoling suddenly ran off, bearing some grudge against Lu Qingyi.

Why?

She confesses her feelings to Lu Jiahao, who rejects her and can’t even remember her name.

Yet, it’s evident that Lu Jiahao could be so good to a woman with a boyfriend, and they seemed quite intimate, making Jia Xiaoling suddenly feel that it’s completely unfair.

Why the hell?

"Your peach blossom."

Gu Yansi crossed his arms, and looked amusedly at Lu Jiahao.

It was clear that Jia Xiaoling was fond of Lu Jiahao. She had just come over out of jealousy for Lu Qingyi.

"Bah, such a woman."

At this moment, all Lu Jiahao wanted to do was spit on the ground. He didn’t usually curse women, but he genuinely wanted to curse Jia Xiaoling.

Anyone who dared to defame Lu Qingyi is naturally someone he would not favour.

Gu Yansi gave Lu Jiahao a pat on the shoulder, a smile playing on his lips.

——

"Little one, when are you returning to Hardrick to be a professor?"

Xu Boyan played with Lu Qingyi’s work badge. "I really want to see you lecturing on the podium," he remarked softly.

Lu Qingyi was the type of career woman who would not likely be satisfied not working. Boyan also knew she would not be happy with a dreamy, relaxed life as a housewife. If Lu Qingyi could become a full-time professor in the future, this would certainly be the best outcome.

Life would be fulfilling, relaxed, and stable, without any vexations, as Lu Qingyi would be Professor Lu.

"We will see."

Lu Qingyi lowered her head, saying nothing at first.

When she initially left Hardrick, she had decided to return after a year, but she had since changed her mind.

Being Professor Lu was just a cover for being Doctor L.

"Are you not fond of being a professor?"

Xu Boyan gently mussed Lu Qingyi’s hair, asking softly.

It seemed to Boyan that Qingyi did not hold so much enthusiasm for the profession, her attitude towards it being rather indifferent.

"It’s ok."

Lu Qingyi shook her head, saying that it was not that she didn’t like it, just that it didn’t stir deep feelings in her.

She didn’t really enjoy any particular career. She just used to love work, enjoyed the feeling of being fulfilled in busyness.

She did not really like being a professor, and the same went for Doctor L.

What she liked, was living life as she wanted to.

"A clever girl with multiple identities and talents, surely you can afford to be a little whimsical. It’s alright even if you don’t want to work. I’ll keep you."

Xu Boyan chuckled, patting Lu Qingyi’s head softly. His voice was gentle.

"If I could, I would wish you need to do nothing, just live off me. No need to work hard or get tired."

"I like being independent, but if it’s you, I’m perfectly willing to be dependent."

Lu Qingyi leaned on Xu Boyan’s shoulder, closing her eyes as she spoke softly.

If it was Xu Boyan, everything could be reconsidered. Being completely dependent on him was quite agreeable.

"My little girl is so cute."

Xu Boyan chuckled, his voice filled with indulgence.

His girl was just really adorable.

"Aren’t I adorable?"

Lu Qingyi raised her eyebrows, giving Xu Boyan a knowing look.

Considering that she was the boss of Xingying, she was amused that Boyan would think of her as adorable.

Xu Boyan gave a soft laugh: "Hmm."

"Did you not say that I was not kind?"

Lu Qingyi asked, looking up at Xu Boyan.

Xu Boyan had indeed said before that she was not kind. How could an unkind person be adorable? It was just impossible.

"Who would say that? You are both adorable and kind."

Xu Boyan held Lu Qingyi in his arms, cooing in a gentle voice.

He wished he could edit out what he had said. If he could turn back time, he would certainly not have said what he did.

Seeing how much he hurt his girl, he felt like he had been a jerk.

"You said it last time. You said I was not kind. I haven’t forgotten."

Lu Qingyi looked at Xu Boyan, her gaze soft but serious. She definitely hadn’t forgotten how hurtful those words were.

"No, baby, I was wrong," Xu Boyan slapped himself in the face.

"Don’t hit yourself."

Lu Qingyi grabbed Xu Boyan’s arm and shook her head lightly. She knew Xu Boyan didn’t mean what he had said. Moreover, others had said much the same about her before, but she didn’t care. It was just that those words, coming from Xu Boyan, hurt.

"Baby, I was wrong. I should not have said that. Why don’t you scold me a bit if it makes you feel better?"

Xu Boyan, holding Lu Qingyi, had a voice full of regret. He should never have said what he did.

"In my mind, you are the kindest and cutest."

He gently rubbed Lu Qingyi’s head again, his voice tender and soft.

"Alright, I know."

Lu Qingyi gave a wry smile, shaking her head helplessly.

She didn’t blame Xu Boyan, nor would she ever.

Xu Boyan was biased. No matter what she did, she was always the best in his heart.
