Chapter 367: The Military Display: Speed Demon Armor Set

Mako then quickly calculated the essential cost of Nathan’s group. Since they wouldn’t need two sets of protection suits, it would already cut down their cost in half. Still, also the climate conditions of Atheris Prime weren’t as extreme as they wouldn’t need the advanced protection suits either and could make do with the regular suits which only cost 150 special tokens each, totaling 450 special tokens for protective suits.

Since there was also oxygen present in the atmosphere of Atheris Prime, a simple oxygen filtration mask would suffice which would filter out the oxygen in the air and pump it directly into the mask making it so that there was no need for stored oxygen cartridges.

The simple oxygen filtration masks only cost 20 special tokens each, totaling 60 special tokens.

The group decided to purchase the exact same shelter as Mako’s group as it was very ideal for them as well; however, unlike Mako’s group, Nathan’s group wouldn’t have to worry about water as there was hydrogen and oxygen both present in the atmosphere of Atheris Prime.

By purchasing a simple Water Synthesizer only costing 100 special tokens, they would be able to produce all the water they would ever need by filtering out hydrogen from the atmosphere and burning it in the presence of pure oxygen, creating water.

After spending 240 special tokens on food because of Leon’s added food requirement as he had a higher metabolism that was needed to replenish his stamina faster and allow him to keep using his speed ability without any drawbacks, Nathan’s group had now calculated for all of their essential items which totaled to 1500 special tokens which left exactly half the amount of tokens for each member to spend on themselves to buy gear such as armor and weapons.

This meant that Nathan, Bella, and Leon each had 500 special tokens to spend on their own gear.

Meanwhile, Mako and Alexi both had 900 special tokens spent, leaving Erin only with 600 special tokens as she had contributed her personal special tokens so that they could afford their camper.

At first, Mako tried to share some of his and Alexi’s tokens so that they would all have a close to equal share but Alexi was against that decision and Erin also refused to take any additional tokens as she claimed that 600 tokens were more than enough for everything that she wanted to buy.

With their game plan set, the groups split in two and headed back to the display to make their purchases.

The first person to arrive back at the display was Leon who sprinted back to the armor stand as quickly as possible with his 500 credits to make sure he would be able to buy the speed demon armor set before anyone else as there was only one set in stock.

Thankfully, none of the pieces of armor from the Speed Demon Armor set had been sold yet.

He asked the vendor for a closer look at the armor and more details about its stats and abilities which the vendor was glad to give.

The Vendor explained that the armor set came from a beast that was a rare crossbreed of two already strong advanced-tier beasts, making the beast a class of its own that is called the Advanced Plus tier as the beast is still stronger than the average Advanced tier beast but weaker than the next tier of beasts making it quite unique and overwhelmingly powerful.

Considering the stats of an average cadet, each individual piece of armor could boost their agility and stamina by 15% while also providing incredible protection. Additionally, if one were to equip the complete Speed Demon Armor Set, they would receive a total of 100% agility and stamina stat increase.

Each individual armor piece also possessed the active skill called, "Dark Hunt". The vendor explained that the Dark Hunt active skill allowed the user to isolate a singular target completely and once the target has been selected, the user gains a speed boost of 300% for 5 seconds which is used to dash straight at the intended target with explosive speed and taking them down with a single hit.

The Dark Hunt active skill had a 3-hour cooldown before it could be used again and once it was used, the user would be inflicted with the exhausted debuff, reducing the person’s base agility stat by 10% for 1 hour and this debuff was stackable with the reduction percentage increasing for every active skill to be cast by each armor piece.

Other than the 100% stat increase received when equipping the complete set, the armor set also provided a unique passive skill that was only available with the whole set which was called, "Dark Sense".

With the complete armor set equipped, it was as if you were one with the essence of the Steel Leg Cheetah who were fierce predators and one of the unique traits they possessed was to be able to sense their prey in their surroundings even if they could hear or see them as well as detect any other disturbances or hidden enemies, allowing them to escape from danger before it even became a threat.

Leon was completely mesmerized by the beautiful dark blue steel armor set that was crafted with great precision and finesse. He had wanted to buy it ever since he had laid his eyes on it and it all came down to the price.

"How much will it cost for the complete set?" Leon asked the vendor.

"This set will cost you 600 special tokens, 150 special tokens for each piece of armor." The vendor replied.

A bolt of lightning struck Leon’s heart as he heard the price of his armor set.

"6... 600?" Leon shakingly asked again to confirm he heard correctly.

"Yes, of course." The vendor replied casually.

Leon’s happy mood was immediately crushed as he realized that he was only 100 special tokens short of obtaining the full armor set.

Desperation filled Leon’s heart as he tried to think of ways in which he could get some more special tokens.

He couldn’t ask the others for some as they also have only 500 hundred and would want to buy things for themselves as well...

He couldn’t ask Mako’s group as lending and sharing tokens was prohibited...

"Maybe I can reduce the money spent on food... They did spend extra for my sake and if I take that amount, I’m sure I can get my armor," Leon thought to himself; however, after a few minutes of running the numbers against the list that Mako had created, he realized that 100 tokens worth of food was a lot more than just for him and he would be starving the other just for flashy armor.

After thinking for a couple of minutes more, Leon had a look of defeat on his face as he knew that there was no other way, he would be able to purchase the complete set.

The only thing that Leon lacked was defense as he was already strong and fast. He had been training his body and strength a lot ever since they came back from their first mission and was pretty skilled with the rapiers which he received from the power weapons class.

Thanks to his hardening, he was able to protect himself from injuries while fighting but it drained a huge amount of his energy so he had to use it sparingly and that limited his options greatly of when to fight and when to go all out.

He needed armor that would complement his speed and give him the same level of protection as his hardening so that he could go all out and fight whenever he wanted without the worry of quickly running out of energy.

Even though the dream of dawning the complete speed demon armor set was broken, Leon was still able to purchase 3 out of 4 pieces of armor, leaving him with only 50 special tokens to his name.

The pieces he selected were boots, leg armor, and a chest plate as these were of the greatest importance. He decided to leave the arm guards behind and would use the hardening on his arms to protect them from damage.

Leon sighed as he made his purchase but knew that looking defeated wasn’t going to help anybody so he tried to cheer himself up.

Three pieces of armor would still grant him a massive boost and well the passive skill that he received from equipping the whole set worked a lot like Nathan’s advanced perception ability so it wasn’t really a big loss for him and his team if he wasn’t able to obtain that full set.

After making his purchase, Leon browsed the medical stalls and bought various cheap and low-budget items with his last 50 tokens which could really help him a lot.

The next person to arrive at their desired stall was Alexi who had quickly made his way back to the row of weapons stalls, the one in particular being the one who had those beautiful pair of dual wield short swords on the center display.
