Chapter 653: Chapter 627 Swing

Gao Yi wanted to laugh.

The situation that Dani and Sith couldn’t break through, he could easily open here.

It wasn’t luck, nor was it better speaking skills; it was purely because of his identity and status.

Gao Yi claimed he was the Gardener, and whether the people in charge believed it or not, their subconscious reaction was to kill him first.

So the opportunity presented itself.

There was indeed a slight noise coming from upstairs.

If the distance were increased and the opponent given a gun, then Gao Yi wouldn’t have any options.

But this kind of battle that occurs on the stairs especially tests the first reaction, focusing on who can be faster and more precise first, and for all the qualities needed to achieve these two points, Gao Yi was at the top level in the world.

So it wasn’t that Gao Yi didn’t like using guns, but that most of the time he didn’t need to use them.

This time, however, Lucy did something uncharacteristic; she only raised one gun. Since in such a narrow place, it’s impossible for several people to come down all at once, she aimed for extremely fast shooting of a single target, with basically no need to simultaneously shoot several targets.

Gao Yi thought at least two Hand Grenades would be thrown down first, so he was ready to dodge at any moment. But unexpectedly, no Hand Grenades were thrown down; instead, the first one to appear was a person suddenly jumping down.

A reckless approach, jumping down suddenly from the corner of the third-floor fire escape stairwell, and not even wielding a rifle, but just a handgun. The person jumping down was wearing two layers of Bullet-Proof Vest, not the kind with ballistic panels, but the kind worn as an inner layer, with at most Third Level protection. But with two layers, even rifle bullets could be stopped.

This was clearly cannon fodder meant to draw fire, with a death-wish that was too obvious.

The enemy initiated the attack, but the first to move was still Gao Yi.

He didn’t shoot, nor did he use a hammer; at the very instant someone suddenly jumped in front of him, before the enemy even landed, Gao Yi darted out.

The enemy fired a shot in mid-air, purely a blind shot, just trying to take the advantage of initiative to startle someone. Once landed, the most likely action was to roll on the spot, then fire a few random shots, considering the task completed.

Gao Yi’s speed was about the same as the enemy jumping down, and then he sent a kick.

Gao Yi rarely used his feet, not because he couldn’t but because most of the time he only needed his fists. But this time was different; to achieve the greatest attack range, he could only use a technique he seldom employed.

A high kick, which looked like a flying kick, with Gao Yi delivering a blow to the enemy’s lower abdomen as they landed.

Both feet landed, the lower abdomen took a heavy hit, but the landed enemy neither flew out nor made a sound, instead bending over, curling up like a shrimp.

A very violent kick, but silent; Gao Yi made no sound, and the enemy who took the blow also made no sound.

The second enemy came down, firing a shot at the recently landed Gao Yi.

Although they were very close, at such high speed, with the body moving rapidly, hitting a person right in front with a handgun wasn’t that easy; this wasn’t about gun skills anymore but was closer to hand-to-hand combat territory.

Weapons are merely extensions of human limbs; pulling the trigger just extends one’s attack range from right in front by a few meters or even hundreds of meters, but in Gao Yi’s domain of absolute control, the difference between a gun and a fist was minimal.

Gao Yi’s foot hit the person, using the recoil force to retract his leg, stabilizing himself on the ground, entering a combat state; his senses were operating at full speed, like in a higher dimension, controlling everything within three meters around him.

The gun muzzle wasn’t aimed at him, so Gao Yi didn’t move, allowing the bullet to fly past his head.

Gao Yi just needed to stand where he was, waiting for the enemy to jump in front of his face, so when the second enemy landed, he raised an elbow, delivering a crushing elbow strike to the enemy’s throat.

Each one falls in an instant.

The first two jumped down and immediately lost control of their bodies, but the enemy wouldn’t just send two; a third enemy already appeared at the fire escape corner, wielding a rifle. As long as he pulled the trigger and swept it sideways, Gao Yi would surely be hit.

Gao Yi flung his handgun forward.

Gao Yi wasn’t confident in shooting the enemy in the head for an instant kill. He couldn’t engage in a direct shootout with the enemy, nor could he instantly move in front of the enemy, so he had to extend his attack range, first avoiding being hit by the rifle.

The tossed handgun hit the enemy’s rifle muzzle, just as the enemy’s rifle fired, but its barrel had been slightly bent by Gao Yi’s thrown handgun.

The enemy fired from a high position, shooting downward.

Gao Yi was lower, charging towards the enemy on the stairs.

The first bullet knocked the handgun away, the second grazed past Gao Yi’s scalp, and the third flew high up.

The impact combined with the recoil from shooting rendered the enemy’s rifle uncontrollable, while Gao Yi had already surged forward two steps towards the enemy.

One punch, the enemy neither flew back nor moved, standing like a television disconnected from power.

Even a shock would cause a slight twitch, and shutting down could trigger a chime; but disconnecting a powered TV would cause immediate blackness.

The fourth enemy was there too, but it was strange; he didn’t shoot at Gao Yi or make any attack moves; instead, he suddenly turned around and flung himself away behind his companion.

This guy wanted to run.

This was between the second and third floors, not too high, and it was an outdoor fire escape; in other words, jumping down wouldn’t bring death.

Surviving the fall, Gao Yi and Lucy could only deal with more enemies upstairs, certainly having no time to shoot at the jumping enemy who was no longer a threat. So this person’s thinking was right, judgment correct, and action near perfect.

This was a seasoned veteran, definitely battle-worn but not a soldier, an old Assassin, an experienced hustler, whose survival instincts immediately triggered the right response without second thought when the situation turned south.

But a hand reached out, grabbing the leg of the person leaping off.

One hand couldn’t hold, but Gao Yi grabbed the leg, and with his other hand, gripped the enemy’s calf.

Half the enemy’s body was already outside, and he had already started falling.

"Ha!"

Gao Yi also acted instinctively; realizing he couldn’t pull a falling person back up, his body reacted automatically beyond his mind’s reach.

With a loud shout, Gao Yi grasped the enemy’s calf, spinning, swinging the nearly two-hundred-pound man once in the air before slamming him heavily onto the stair handrail.

The person flung out was dragged back.

It wasn’t a grand Ferris wheel swing, but after completing a lawnmower-style spin, Gao Yi smashed the person back onto the stairs.

With a loud bang, the iron stairway rail shook, and since the handrails were connected, almost the entire building’s fire escape trembled, emitting a very intense loud noise.

Because he exerted all his strength, Gao Yi fell into a brief state of stiffness.

But even though there were clearly more enemies upstairs, the foremost person was petrified, as if he were the one tossed around.

Nothing else, just scared silly; although Gao Yi entered a brief state of paralysis, he successfully controlled all the remaining enemies.
