Chapter 629: Chapter 603: Whoever Can, Goes

The plane landed at Andrews Air Force Base.

Landing at a military airport is obviously for safety reasons, and to add a bit more, Air Force One is also usually stationed at this airport.

When Gao Yi and his team disembarked the plane, Panetta indeed personally came to welcome them, though ostensibly, the most important guest was Amos.

As the world’s number one terrorist, Amos deserved a personal greeting from the CIA director.

Amos was the first to be escorted off the plane. He was handcuffed, and a CIA agent took out a black hood to put over Amos’s head. However, upon seeing the hood, the usually cooperative Amos resisted vehemently.

"Hey, this wasn’t part of the agreed process."

"It’s for your safety."

"Save it. I’ve already been seen by everyone worldwide. Why would I care about this last bit of time? I don’t want to wear the hood."

Amos refused to wear the hood, and Nevan, from behind, helplessly said, "It’s more for our safety, so you have to wear this hood."

"No way. If I’m not seen, then what’s the point of everything I’ve done? What’s the point of my sacrifice? You haven’t reached the time when you can disregard me. If you want information from me, you’d better do as I say."

Amos was quite confident. Nevan thought for a moment and said, "Forget about the hood."

The CIA compromised, and Amos was satisfied. He stood up and walked toward the cabin door, but just before reaching it, he suddenly stopped and looked at Yuri.

Yuri remained seated without moving, simply smiling at Amos.

Amos took a breath, looked at Gao Yi, then raised his handcuffed hands, shrugged at Gao Yi, put on a sorrowful expression, and walked off the plane.

"What does he mean?"

Gao Yi truly couldn’t make sense of it, so he looked at Yuri and said in confusion, "Why do I feel Amos has been acting so strangely?"

"It’s normal. Why do you think he’s willing to cooperate with the CIA? Even if the Americans treat him well, he ultimately lost his freedom. Do you like living in a luxury prison?"

Gao Yi responded without hesitation, "No matter how luxurious, a prison is still a prison. I definitely wouldn’t want to live in one."

"Yes, so Amos’s actions are understandable. He is warning you, or rather advising you to be cautious."

"Of course, I should be cautious. Do you really think Amos volunteered?"

Yuri smiled, calmly saying, "He just had no choice, so he needs to make a splash and take responsibility for everything."

Gao Yi looked at Yuri in surprise. Yuri shrugged and said, "Yes, I used Amos, took his power, and either killed his men or swayed them to my side. It’s an old-fashioned conspiracy."

"I see, you’re the mantis stalking the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind... Hmm, not quite right... More like the cuckoo occupying the magpie’s nest... also not quite right."

Gao Yi tried to sum up Yuri’s actions with an idiom, but he couldn’t find one that fit perfectly.

Yuri calmly said, "No need to dwell on that. At least Amos doesn’t have to die; he got what he wanted, and I got the result I wanted. It’s all good."

Amos was taken away, and Gao Yi saw clearly from the cabin window. Panetta even went up to say a couple of words to Amos before he was placed in a bulletproof car.

The handover of Amos didn’t take much time, and seeing Amos was successfully taken away, Nevan finally approached Yuri, whispering, "Gentlemen, come have a cup of coffee with us. Rest assured, we won’t make things difficult for you."

Yuri glanced sideways at Nevan, then said very calmly, "Do you mean you, or the CIA?"

"Of course, it’s not my own idea. We just want you to clarify the matter about the nuclear bombs. We won’t detain you, nor will we harm you."

Yuri smiled again and then seriously said, "You don’t think I’d naively tell you all the locations of the nuclear bombs, do you? Think about it from another angle: Why would Amos cooperate with you? He’s willing to be imprisoned by the CIA for the rest of his life; why is that?"

Nevan frowned.

Yuri spread his hands and said, "Amos got old, lost his nerve. Now that he’s safe, go interrogate him; he’ll give you the answers. As for me, I have only one piece of advice: don’t provoke me, just pretend I don’t exist."

Nevan hesitantly looked at Gao Yi, who helplessly spread his hands and said, "Honestly, I don’t know what hidden cards he has, but based on my understanding of him, you’d better listen to him."

Yuri smiled, then addressed Nikolayev, who’d been standing by as if invisible, "Now that we’ve left Ben, do you want to follow me for a life of adventure and thrills, or go back and tend your deer?"

Nikolayev said without hesitation, "Follow you? Following you will end up getting me killed by you. I choose to go home and tend my herd. Now that the Soviet Restoration Committee is finished, well, if you’re unsure, then just kill me, otherwise let me go."

Yuri seemed a bit hesitant.

Nevan was also hesitant, and Gao Yi saw clearly from the cabin window that Panetta was waiting outside the plane, looking puzzledly at his watch, presumably wondering why others hadn’t disembarked yet.

It didn’t take long for Yuri to make a decision. He suddenly sighed and said, "Live well. Go back and tend your deer. Moreover, although the Soviet Restoration Committee has effectively disappeared, the Garden Federation has emerged, so don’t worry, I still have things to do."

After he finished speaking, Yuri stood up and extended his hand to Nikolayev.

Nikolayev hesitated for a moment but then reached out to shake Yuri’s hand, calmly saying, "Regardless, at least you fulfilled my long-held wish. My decades of waiting weren’t in vain. Thank you."

"You’re welcome."

Releasing his hand, Yuri said to Nevan, "Get him a plane, let him fly wherever he says, don’t try to interrogate him, and definitely don’t harm him, or you’ll regret it."

After speaking, Yuri said to Gao Yi in a serious tone, "Let’s disembark; we’ve wasted too much time, and our host must be getting anxious."

Yuri began to lead the way off the plane. Gao Yi shrugged and followed Yuri, and then Feng Biao, passing a few people, came to Gao Yi’s side and whispered, "What does that mean? I can’t understand; what’s going on now?"

Gao Yi scratched his face and said, "Can’t understand, don’t know, honestly I don’t know what’s happening now, but it doesn’t matter. Let competent people take over. We are not good at thinking, just responsible for taking action."
