Chapter 447: Chapter 427: Don’t Waste
Gao Yi felt that he was increasingly resembling an assassin.
Of course, not just any assassin, nor the kind that could only muddle along in the underworld, but one that had climbed into the ranks of official assassins capable of influencing national affairs, and even participating in the world’s shifting powers.
It was just a bit difficult to define the limits of this "official" status, because all the assassination affairs of Saudi had been outsourced to Gao Yi, who in turn forced France and the UK to get involved. So, whose official position was this?
That was the issue Gao Yi was contemplating now.
Luca squeezed over, taking the spot that Sith had previously occupied beside Gao Yi, and said mysteriously, "We are finally a mature and professional assassin organization. Look at these two, both are genuine assassins. The Garden now once again has eligible professional assassins and has also secured national-level big business deals. You’ve surpassed all previous Gardeners; you’re the most formidable!"
"What are you trying to say?"
"That’s all I wanted to say. In addition, I want to mention that I am surely the best Bee in the history of the Garden."
Luca’s face was full of satisfaction, and he whispered, "A Gardener needs Bees, don’t you think?"
Gao Yi thought for a moment and said, "No, you’re not a Bee, you’re just the CFO."
Luca looked like a rooster caught by the neck, falling into a daze. After a moment of being stunned, he asked quietly, "So, you won’t give me the position of the Bee, even under the premise that the Garden is actually just the two of us now?"
"Listen to me, buddy, you’re fine handling the money, but you’re not cut out to be a Bee because you’re too sensitive about money, because you’re too stingy."
Gao Yi spoke bluntly. He glanced over at Dani behind him and continued, "I know all too well what a Bee should be like. If you can’t bear to spend money, how can you be a good Bee? Think about it, you have to provide the assassins with the best life, the best services. If you were to do these things, would you feel comfortable or in agony?"
Luca fell silent for a moment, then sighed softly, "You’re right. When I think about paying for them to enjoy and lead a luxurious life, it truly doesn’t sit well with me."
"That’s right. Why bother doing something you don’t enjoy?"
Luca shrugged and said, "Alright, I give up on that position. Then who should be the Bee, who’s suitable? Wind Vane?"
Gao Yi shook his head, "He’s not suitable either. Feng Biao may be good at providing emotional value, but he doesn’t think like someone who is service-oriented. A Bee is essentially a butler, someone who requires a meticulous and considerate service mindset. Feng Biao is too proud at heart; he wouldn’t do well in this role. There’s nobody in our group suited for it."
After finishing, Gao Yi looked at Luca, curiously asking, "Why are you bringing this up all of a sudden?"
Luca spoke softly, "Because Feng Biao and Lin Xianghua plan to leave."
Gao Yi was shocked, "What? They’re planning to leave?"
"When you went out with those two today, they found me and had a chat. They’re contemplating whether they should leave, but they’re undecided, so they asked for my opinion. I think maybe you should communicate with them first."
Gao Yi understood what Luca meant. He nodded, stood up, and went straight to where Feng Biao and Lin Xianghua were.
"Brother Biao, Ghost, are you thinking of leaving?"
There’s no need for secrecy; being straightforward is best.
Lin Xianghua looked troubled and didn’t know what to say, while Feng Biao quite seriously said, "It’s not about wanting to leave, but rather feeling unnecessary at the moment. Following you, we can’t be of any help. It’s not that we want to break up the group."
Gao Yi glanced at Sith, then turned to look at Dani, pondered for a moment, and said quietly, "Let me put it this way, our current job is part-time assassin work. In the future, they will be the Garden’s assassins. But I don’t have any real understanding of them. If something happens, who can I rely on?"
Feng Biao’s face showed understanding, and he readily said, "That’s also true. If that’s how you put it, then I can’t leave, at least not right now. But I’ll say it again, this isn’t about disbanding. It’s solely because we feel like we can’t be of any help, and also, we both haven’t done much and have received so much money... it’s somewhat embarrassing."
Lin Xianghua immediately said, "That’s the main point."
Feng Biao and Lin Xianghua were Gao Yi’s core supporters. No matter how capable Sith and Dani were, if anything happened, when it was a matter of life and death, Gao Yi believed Feng Biao and Lin Xianghua would surely stand in front of him.
This was the kind of friendship that could only be forged through life-and-death experiences, allowing Gao Yi to truly feel at ease.
Perhaps Sith and Dani could also be trusted by Gao Yi eventually, but not now.
"You deserve the money; it’s an initial investment with profits to follow. Isn’t that normal?"
Gao Yi reassured the two, but then he said, "Of course, if there’s anything you guys want to do now, if you want to take a break or go on a vacation, go ahead. After all, there’s nothing much going on right now. You now have the money and the chance to spend it, the opportunity to live it up. Don’t end up like me, with money but no chance to spend it. By then it’s too late, even crying won’t help."
"You’re right!"
Feng Biao didn’t have to be polite with Gao Yi, and there was no need for pretense, so he naturally continued the conversation.
"I’ve got one hundred million dollars now, just sitting in my account. What’s the point of having money if it’s not spent? Besides, if something were to happen to me, wouldn’t that just benefit the bank?"
After speaking, Feng Biao confidently said, "Now, with your connections inside the country, there shouldn’t be a problem to open a path for me to transfer the money in, right?"
Gao Yi thought about it and said, "No problem, how do you want to do it?"
"First, transfer twenty million back to my mom, which is over a hundred million RMB. That amount of money is enough for my mom to spend for ten lifetimes. The key is that it has to be deposited under my name. These past few days have been a real headache. I originally planned to transfer 50 million dollars back, but thinking it over, I reckon I’ll be abroad in the future, so I’ll just leave twenty million there. That money is untouchable; just the interest alone would be more than enough for my mom to spend and never run out, no matter how she spends it."
Gao Yi said softly, "Are you not going back? Or is it that you can’t go back?"
"What mercenary dares to go back? It seems all fine and dandy, but who knows what would actually happen if I did return? Doing all this killing and arson abroad, if I went back I’d be under constant surveillance, no doubt!"
It was clear that Feng Biao had his concerns, which went without saying.
Gao Yi confidently said, "It’s different now. Nowadays, it’s no problem to specially arrange a way for you to return. Shall I ask around?"
"Asking around is good. I’ll go back and take a look, buy some properties. You guys say if you deposit one hundred million dollars in the bank, how much interest would you get a month?"
"How should I know? I never even dared to dream about having one hundred million in the bank."
"Surely there would be tens of thousands each month, right?"
"There should be, probably tens of thousands at least. Ask Luca, let him do the calculations."
Gao Yi and Feng Biao murmured about how to spend the money and how much interest there would be after returning, while Lin Xianghua helplessly said, "What about my money? What can I do? Should I donate it when I go back?"
Gao Yi was shocked and said, "Are you sick? Donate the money?"
As for what others thought, Gao Yi couldn’t care less, as he simply couldn’t bear to donate the money he had risked his life to earn. His ideological consciousness was weak, his realm too low.
Lin Xianghua said in a low voice, "I want to use my money to support the independence of Liuqiu!"
"Uh, that’s doable; that’s money you can spend."
"But there’s no such organization willing to accept my money."
Lin Xianghua said with distress, "So, who should I give the money to?"
Feng Biao said dismissively, "Otherwise just establish your own organization. Better to use the money yourself than to donate it. If you have money, you can pull together a team, and once you have a team, things can get done. If there’s a movement that no one has taken up before, then you do it yourself. I’ve even come up with a name for you, it should be called the Liuqiu Restoration Army."
Lin Xianghua still hesitated, and Gao Yi said, "Go for it, it’s time. You’ve mentioned it before. Once you’re back, find some like-minded people to set up the framework. Without money, you can’t do anything. With money, everything is possible."
Whether Lin Xianghua’s endeavor would be successful was uncertain, but one thing was for sure—if he got it started, it would definitely annoy the Sith, absolutely.
Feng Biao loved to stir the pot, while Gao Yi wholeheartedly wanted to support the cause of Liuqiu’s restoration, to the point where he was even willing to fund Lin Xianghua.
"You start, and if your money isn’t enough, I’ll chip in. We have plenty of people you can use, no problem in making a big scene. You need gear, we’ll find a way to get it to you. How’s that?"
Lin Xianghua took a deep breath and said, "Okay, then I’ll go back first to scope things out, survey the level of public support, and if the timing is ripe, I’ll get things started!"
"Right! Do it!"
Gao Yi strongly supported Lin Xianghua.
Lin Xianghua was somewhat worried and said, "If I really start doing this, what will you do if you need me here?"
"Oh, don’t worry about it. Do you think our crew is short on people?"
Disbanding was absolutely not an option, but letting someone go to pursue their dream was no problem at all.
Is it contradictory? Actually, it’s not contradictory at all. If Feng Biao and Lin Xianghua felt they were no longer useful and left, that would mean disbanding.
But for Feng Biao to visit his parents and use the money for his wife and kids, that was only natural and didn’t mean he wouldn’t come back.
As for Lin Xianghua, Gao Yi would provide whatever he lacked, support as much as possible within his capacity. No question about it, it was just like giving Gao Yi, who had money to spare, an interesting way to spend it, like buying a luxury item.
Lin Xianghua made up his mind. He clenched his fists tightly and said solemnly, "Alright! Then I’ll go back and start taking action!"
Feng Biao quickly said, "Get it started, and if you need help, just tell us. For now, I’m going to see my wives and kids, then I’ll head back to the country. It probably won’t take too long, I’ll be back in a month or two; won’t that cause any delays, right?"
Gao Yi said carelessly, "No delays at all, I’ll contact you once your plane lands. It’s about time to make use of my connections; while I still have favors, I shouldn’t waste them."
