Chapter 412: Chapter 394 First Time
Moscow.
It can’t be said that it was a quick flash to Moscow, but it only took eight hours in total from France to Moscow.
Gao Yi was proud of his own efficiency.
All the talk of Andic’s pursuit, the incidents with Iron Fist George, did not reflect at all.
So, what’s the point of the Andic Group’s pursuit?
Could any of this prevent Gao Yi from completing his major transaction?
After getting off the plane and pulling a suitcase towards the airport exit, Gao Yi held his passport in one hand, flipping it open to reassess the name and identity on his false passport, reinforcing his impression.
While waiting in line for customs, Gao Yi said to Green, "What are we going to do after we arrive in Moscow? Should we find a place to rest first?"
Green said indifferently, "Depends on the situation. The buyers are very polite and considerate. They won’t seem to be monitoring us, but they surely have arranged someone to pick us up at the airport. Just make a call, and definitely, someone will receive you."
Gao Yi frowned, "Really? I haven’t leaked our whereabouts."
Green took a long breath and said, "You’ve been constantly making phone calls and contacts, knowing you must come to Moscow. What’s the difficulty in catching you? Remember, it’s because of politeness that the buyers can’t appear in front of you, not that they aren’t capable of it."
Gao Yi frowned and said, "Then should I make a call to check? It’d be good if I can get in touch directly."
Green shrugged his shoulders and spread his hands in an indifferent manner, "The buyers are more anxious than you are and value this deal more, so they must arrange it close to perfection. From this moment on, leaving the safety here to the buyers isn’t bad."
Green said it was a good choice, but he didn’t mention whether he should make the call or not. No need to doubt, Green means for him, Gao Yi, to make the decision.
Then make the call. But now, Gao Yi could only contact Teacher Mu.
Gao Yi dialed Teacher Mu’s number, and Teacher Mu picked up the call. Then he warmly said, "Mr. Gao, hello."
"We’ve arrived in Moscow, what’s the arrangement next?"
"I am a bit occupied here and can only arrange for a friend from a local travel agency to help accommodate you. Would you mind letting my friend show you around a bit?"
"Fine, let him contact me directly, I am at the airport."
"Good, good, just wait a moment, I’ll ask the guide to contact you."
Teacher Mu hung up the phone, and soon it was Gao Yi’s turn.
The border officer absentmindedly took Gao Yi’s passport and had a sort of ’As expected’ expression when he saw the dark red passport cover. However, he was momentarily taken aback when he saw it was a German passport.
Since they had started from Germany, naturally, they used a German passport. No choice, just one more passport to use wherever convenient.
After glancing at Gao Yi, the border officer hesitated slightly, then stamped the passport and let Gao Yi pass without asking any questions.
Continuing out of the airport, as soon as Gao Yi passed the border control, his phone timely rang.
"Hello, Mr. Gao, I am your guide in Moscow. I am here at the exit holding a sign waiting for you, is that okay?"
"What sign?"
"Huang Changyou, that’s my name. Huang as in yellow, Chang as in long, and You as in having money. I am waiting earnestly for your arrival at the exit."
"Okay, I’m coming out now, wait a moment."
Gao Yi hung up the phone, then he couldn’t help but frown.
It really feels like a guide, how come the way he talks doesn’t hint at any surreptitious meeting at all?
What is the taste of a clandestine meeting? It’s that secretive, covert vibe, speaking ambiguously, giving off that mysterious feel that you are up to no good.
It just really feels like a local guide waiting for a tour group, too ordinary, too mundane.
No idea what the real situation is, but that is how Gao Yi understood it.
Gao Yi walked slowly to the exit, there were quite a few passengers, and many people at the exit.
Gao Yi spotted the person who came to pick him up at a glance.
Not very tall, about 1.7 meters; quite short by Moscow standards, but the most conspicuous feature was his bald head, shiny and polished.
Dressed in a suit, reasonably well-fitting, but somehow it still felt that the man wearing the suit inherently had a tacky air, even though it was a very fitting and correct attire, it still didn’t seem like his own clothes, a bit incongruous.
Gao Yi scrutinized him with his professional eye and realized that Luo Changyou’s incongruity was because the clothes were too cheap.
Some people look very apt in suits because of the quality and tailoring of the clothes are very good, some people, although fitting in size, the cheap and poor quality material and workmanship make it clear that those wearing the suits are either salespeople or middlemen.
Luo Changyou was that sort of case.
Luo Changyou had no distinctive features, the only notable feature was his bald head, completely devoid of hair on top but still with roots around, indicating Mediterranean-style baldness, only he had shaved all his hair off.
Luo Changyou was scrutinizing Gao Yi with a look that seemed to have spotted the target but could not confirm it.
Gao Yi pulled his suitcase up to Luo Changyou.
"Hello, Mr. Luo, right?"
Gao Yi greeted, and Luo Changyou quickly put away the sign, then very enthusiastically said, "Welcome to Moscow, thank you for choosing our travel group."
Gao Yi did not know what to say.
It was just that this way of meeting was not quite what Gao Yi had expected.
Feng Biao and Lin Xianghua followed out, walking past Gao Yi without stopping.
Then Lucy naturally walked up and hooked her arm through Gao Yi’s, while Green simply stood next to Gao Yi.
Everyone except Luca appeared, yet Luca was actually there too, only he blended in with other travelers, not planning to show himself with Gao Yi, nor would he join Feng Biao and Lin Xianghua.
Luo Changyou smiled and said, "Just the three of us, right? This way, please?"
Luo Changyou put away the sign, still with a smile plastered on his face, leading Gao Yi and the others towards the parking lot.
In the parking lot, there was a Mercedes-Benz Viano that looked a bit old from the outside, but it was very clean. Waiting for Luo Changyou to open the car door for Gao Yi, one could see that the seats inside were even older.
An old but frequently used business vehicle, yet very well maintained.
It seemed to be the standard for mid-range travel ground handling.
Gao Yi inspected the seating arrangement inside the car, then he asked Green to get in the car first, followed by Lucy, letting them sit in the two most comfortable seats, while Gao Yi himself opened the front passenger door.
"Please," he said.
As Luo Changyou invited Gao Yi and the others into the vehicle, he opened the trunk and placed the suitcases Gao Yi and Green were pulling into the trunk, then hurried back.
Luo Changyou was not exceptionally diligent; he just did what he was supposed to do without being overly enthusiastic or considerate. In terms of service quality, it could only be considered average.
Standard yet also merely standard in grade, a bit lacking compared to the service level of high-end tour guides abroad.
Gao Yi sat in the passenger seat and buckled up. Only then did Luo Changyou get into the driver’s seat, fastened his seatbelt, and started the car, very ordinarily and normally adding, "You must be tired from the journey, let’s go to the hotel first."
It was too ordinary.
Gao Yi couldn’t help but want to talk about the transaction, but Green waited for the car to start moving before suddenly asking, "Why are you bald?"
Luo Changyou sighed and said, "No choice, I have hereditary baldness. Neither my parents are bald, but who knew my uncle’s baldness would affect me; there’s nothing I can do."
Gao Yi did not quite understand; he really didn’t know why Green was talking about hair.
Green whispered, "So it’s a recessive gene carried on your mother’s side causing baldness?"
Luo Changyou laughed and said, "Yes, a recessive gene, but it became dominant in me. It was quite troublesome when I was young, but now I am older, I can’t be bothered anymore, so I just shaved it off, saving time and effort."
Green turned his head to one side, lazily saying, "Moscow’s winter is very cold, though."
"A hat will do in winter."
Gao Yi knew Green and Luo Changyou were using code, not some kind of secret signal, but communicating some meanings through these seemingly ordinary conversations that he didn’t quite understand.
It was better to hide his confusion at this time, not knowing wasn’t meant to ask indiscriminately.
There would probably be deeper conversations when they arrived at their destination, so what to say at this time?
Gao Yi wasn’t much distracted, he very ordinarily asked, "Mr. Luo, where is your hometown, and how long have you been in Russia?"
"I’ve been in Moscow for twenty-five years."
Luo Changyou still wore a warm smile, just not mentioning where his hometown was.
Green suddenly said, "First time?"
Gao Yi didn’t understand what Green meant by this; he just turned his head to look at Luo Changyou, who turned to glance back at Green through the rear-view mirror.
"First time."
Luo Changyou answered Green’s question.
Yet Gao Yi still did not understand.
In fact, Gao Yi was annoyed by this kind of cryptic conversation; somewhat impatient, he bluntly said, "What first time?"
Green indifferently said, "The first time being activated in Moscow after hiding for twenty-five years."
Gao Yi looked meaningfully at Luo Changyou.
Green continued, "Is this your first time leading such a significant operation upon activation?"
Luo Changyou smiled casually, "Everyone has their first time. The first use is also the best time to use, don’t you agree?"
Green nodded, he sighed, saying, "I’m not questioning you, just greeting."
Gao Yi understood, he said to Luo Changyou, "How should we proceed with our transaction then."
The way he spoke did not sound like an experienced operator, but Gao Yi meant to let Luo Changyou know he was not experienced. If Luo Changyou needed to arrange the details of this transaction, it would be best to consider the fact that he was a novice.
Luo Changyou accurately grasped Gao Yi’s mindset, he chuckled and said, "The expert’s plane hasn’t landed yet. It will land in two more hours; we’ll discuss this over dinner when everyone arrives, okay?"
