Chapter 401: Chapter 383: Take a Guess

The shot was powerful.

Whether it was formidable would have to be judged by the details.

Gao Yi hadn’t expected Iron Fist George to simply open the door, so when the landlady spoke with an uncertain tone, Gao Yi decisively kicked in the door.

At that moment, it really wasn’t about catching someone off guard or achieving a surprise effect; all Gao Yi could do was kick the door and dodge bullets.

Iron Fist George wasn’t vague either. He must have sensed something was wrong as soon as the landlady began to speak, so he wouldn’t wait for someone to enter before shooting. Instead, he shot directly at the door.

It wasn’t reckless, but a duel between experts; life and death hinged on an instant, and for a split second advantage, even if the gunshot went astray, nobody cared.

So when Gao Yi kicked the door, he did so along with evasive maneuvers, and Iron Fist George had also fired the moment the landlady’s speech was abruptly interrupted.

Had Gao Yi not been fully prepared, that bullet would have hit his chest.

Had Iron Fist George not raised his gun towards the door as soon as the landlady began to speak, he wouldn’t have been able to shoot so swiftly.

The gunshot and the door opening, Gao Yi narrowly dodged gunfire intended to block the enemy.

Gao Yi saw a figure inside the room, not clearly, but the person inside seemed tall.

Iron Fist George saw someone dodge to the side as soon as the door opened. He didn’t continue to shoot but instead stepped back, also retreating to the wall.

Now the situation was manageable.

In Gao Yi’s career as an assassin, he had never encountered such a vigilant target. His previous targets were protected by others, but this time, the target was protecting himself, which significantly increased the difficulty.

Even while moonlighting as a mercenary, Gao Yi had encountered foes more alert than Iron Fist George, but that was on the battlefield, and even if Gao Yi attacked, it was with artillery.

But now, Gao Yi didn’t even have a gun, nor a hand grenade, nor a bullet-proof vest.

So the current situation was extremely troublesome.

"Stop hiding, you can’t escape."

Just try some verbal provocation; Gao Yi held no real hope, not naive enough to believe that a few words could persuade an elite expert.

Iron Fist George remained silent, and Gao Yi unhesitatingly continued, "Don’t try to jump out the window. My people will definitely kill you the moment you open it. It wouldn’t be good for either of us."

Pretend to be weak where you are strong, and strong where you are weak. Gao Yi said this not actually wanting to capture a prisoner alive, but hoping that these words could make Iron Fist George believe there was no ambush outside, hence he might choose to escape by jumping out the window.

Gao Yi wanted Iron Fist George to jump out, allowing Feng Biao to kill him with one shot.

But there was still no movement inside, Iron Fist George neither jumped out nor rushed outside.

Gao Yi dared not peek inside; he had no doubt that sticking his head out would certainly get him shot, as Iron Fist George wasn’t the kind of movie villain who excelled at missing even clear shots—if Gao Yi gave Iron Fist George just one chance to shoot, Iron Fist George would definitely hit his mark.

What to do then?

Actually, the solution was super simple.

Call for backup.

Gao Yi took out his mobile with one hand and dialed Lin Xianghua’s number. A moment later, Lin Xianghua knew what had happened.

Lin Xianghua and Lucy would soon come to support. Then, having guns, hand grenades, and bullet-proof vests, handling Iron Fist George, who was stuck inside the room, would not be difficult.

Gao Yi talked as he backed away.

Now what was scary was that Iron Fist George might have a bomb on him, especially the kind that could blow up along with others. Perhaps its power wouldn’t be too great, but killing people in the same room should be no problem.

The hard part was locating Iron Fist George, but actually killing Iron Fist George wasn’t difficult.

The landlady was terrified out of her wits but wasn’t genuinely foolish, so she kept her hands over her mouth, quietly and slowly retreating.

Gao Yi also backed away; as he passed the landlady, he gestured with his finger to keep silent and then waved his hand, signaling her to quickly leave.

The landlady nodded, turned, and ran. Then, as she passed Green, who had been standing motionless at the stair entrance, Green suddenly raised his hand and struck. The landlady, hit on the neck, immediately collapsed limply to the ground.

"She can’t be allowed to leave, go out shouting, or call the police—that would be troublesome. How could you afford to be a good person at this time?"

Green dissatisfiedly spoke to Gao Yi, then immediately seemed to have an epiphany, saying, "Oh, right, you haven’t undergone emotional detachment training."

Another new term, but Gao Yi understood.

Gao Yi whispered, "Let’s go, wait..."

"We can’t wait."

Glancing at the open door, Green whispered back, "You don’t understand what giving a top agent ample time means."

Finishing his statement, Green pulled a pistol from behind his waist, slowly approached the door, and whispered, "George, just kill yourself."

"Is it you?"

"It’s me."

Iron Fist George and Green actually had a conversation. It was obvious they knew each other and were quite familiar.

Iron Fist George’s tone immediately turned despondent, but his volume didn’t change, it just became much gloomier. "They actually sent you."

"I wasn’t sent. I just used you as a teaching tool while helping them out. So, George, why don’t you kill yourself, preserve some dignity? If I make a move, you won’t die, and if you don’t die, you’ll fall into the French’s hands. The worse outcome is that you’d be brought back to the UK. Either way, it’s better for you to die right before me."

"You taught me to never despair, no matter the situation."

"Did you forget I also taught you to never be captured? You should at least be able to assess the situation, George, you can’t escape."

"Even if I can’t escape, I won’t kill myself. I dare..."

It was unclear what Iron Fist George intended to say next, as Green suddenly fired a meaningless shot. He randomly shot at the door; it wouldn’t hit anyone, so it was merely to interrupt Iron Fist George.

The gunshot cut off Iron Fist George’s words, then Green whispered, "Say no more. Let’s see if you’re still as clumsy as before. I’m coming."

Green said he was coming, but he didn’t move. After a brief pause, he suddenly declared, "A fair duel to send you off, 3, 2, 1!"

Green counted down sharply from three to one, but he didn’t move.

A moment later, Green feigned a light stomp with his foot but still showed no intention of moving.

At once to act, next, wane, and at last, exhaust.

Green also knew how to use these military tactics in reverse.

However, the effect seemed poor because Iron Fist George softly said from inside: "You always like these little tricks, Instructor. I’m coming out now. Are you ready? Counting down, 3, 2, 1."

Green didn’t move, and Iron Fist George indeed didn’t rush out.

Gao Yi found it both irritating and amusing.

Unable to help himself, Gao Yi took two steps forward, arriving behind Green. At that moment, Green suddenly said to Gao Yi, "You didn’t handle it. Your failure forces me to step in personally and take risks."

Gao Yi was left speechless.

That’s when Iron Fist George suddenly exclaimed, "Who is it?"

"He’s Busan, or maybe you know him better as Hammer God. He’s been looking for you for a long time."

"Oh, that Kung Fu master."

Iron Fist George sounded rather surprised, then he casually suggested, "How about this? I’ll fight him fairly. Since I’m doomed, let me settle him with my fists first. Give you guys a chance to come in."

Gao Yi quite agreed with Iron Fist George’s proposal, but he knew better than to trust what Iron Fist George said.

As expected, Green said with emotion, "George, do you think I’d believe that? Okay, I know what you want to do and what you can do. Time is on my side. Whatever you do is useless; I just need to wait for the assault team to come up and storm you, and it’s all over."

During this conversation, Green suddenly made a hand signal to Gao Yi following a specific sequence which started from his eyes moving to Gao Yi’s legs, then mimicking walking, and finishing by pretending to punch.

What did that sign language mean?

Heaven knows what sign language Military Intelligence Sixth Department uses; let alone Gao Yi, who doesn’t understand sign language well, even if he did, it would only be his own version, for there is no universal standard for sign language.

Just then, Lin Xianghua and Lucy finally arrived.

As soon as they entered the hotel, they drew their guns. Seeing Gao Yi, Lin Xianghua, without saying a word and before even reaching him, tossed a hand grenade at Gao Yi.

Of course, it was a hand grenade that hadn’t been primed.

Gao Yi caught the grenade with one hand, an offensive type. He grabbed the pin, ready to pull it and throw it inside.

Just then, Green suddenly said, "George, I’m here, how do you plan to escape? This hotel’s floor is thin, blasting the floor to the first floor, what good would that do? Do you think I wouldn’t have people ready on the first floor?"

The exchange between Green and George was not exactly like talking in riddles, but Gao Yi really couldn’t understand much of it.

Moreover, now Gao Yi knew that there was definitely more to Iron Fist George’s story than it seemed, but whether it was simple or complex, it didn’t matter to him at all. Even if Iron Fist George had some major secrets, he didn’t want to hear them.

But the fighting style of these two truly baffled Gao Yi.

Lin Xianghua and Lucy had reached behind Gao Yi; Lin Xianghua nodded at Gao Yi, then he tapped on his Bullet-Proof Vest to signal he was ready for the assault, and rotated his body preparing to charge in at the fastest angle.

Lin Xianghua clearly knew what he needed to do, which was good.

Gao Yi still hadn’t drawn his gun since he knew his gun skills wouldn’t surpass those of Iron Fist George. Having a gun would only hinder his ability to use his advantages.

It was time to rely on sheer numbers to charge in and resolve the situation—the time for fancy tricks was over; ultimately, it all came down to real power.

But just then, Iron Fist George suddenly said, "You have no idea what I’ve done, do you? Well, guess why Military Intelligence Sixth Department hasn’t come for me yet? My teacher, or maybe you should guess what I have in my hand."
