Chapter 387: Chapter 369: The Ex
Gao Yi’s current task wouldn’t be delayed by a mere thought.
The task was done, and although the War Axe Mercenary Group hadn’t really done much, an agreed-upon 30 million was still 30 million.
"30 million dollars have been transferred; it’s what you deserve."
Gao Yi didn’t hand over cash; he didn’t have that kind of cash to give, but the ceremonial aspect of payment was still necessary. Luca made the transfer and waited for Gao Yi to receive confirmation from Luca before sending a solemn message to settle the account with Donkey.
Donkey had encountered a stroke of luck.
"Thank you!"
With a heavy nod, Donkey then said to his remaining four subordinates, "We’ve got 30 million in our account, gentlemen; you’re all millionaires now!"
A middle-aged man in his forties looked utterly bewildered, murmuring in a mosquito-thin voice, "Is it true? So fast? So simple? It’s not that I don’t trust you, or that I don’t trust... I just can’t quite believe it."
Donkey waved his hand and said, "The 30 million is already in my account; I’ll immediately transfer it to all of you. We agreed that the last payment would be compensation for our fallen brothers. This 30 million, we five will divide. Now, I’ll take ten million, and each of you four will get five million. After this battle, we retire; we made it!"
Gao Yi felt somewhat envious.
Even though five million was not a large sum to Gao Yi now, seeing others retire and enjoy life with their five million, while his account was just a bunch of numbers, he didn’t know what he could actually do with it.
There were advantages to being a small-timer, at least they could retire if they wanted to.
Donkey continued, emotionally, "Now, I’ll transfer the money to you, you all take it and go home. After that..."
Whatever came after, Donkey left unsaid.
One middle-aged man said earnestly, "Just call me if you need anything, boss."
Donkey hugged each of the four men in turn, then transferred the money to them one by one. Gao Yi really wanted to ask Donkey if their accounts were safe; if not, he could help, for a fee.
Even a mosquito’s leg is flesh; Luca loved this kind of work.
But Donkey went ahead and transferred the money to each of his men, and then the War Axe Mercenary Group truly disbanded on the spot. The four in front of Gao Yi started changing their clothes, leaving all their gear behind, putting on casual outfits, and each carrying a little cash, they simply disbanded right there.
A quite famous mercenary group had disbanded so easily, right in front of Gao Yi. The mercenaries were ecstatic to be leaving.
One of the mercenaries saw Gao Yi, saluted him, and said, "Thank you, Hammer God."
Gao Yi nodded slightly.
"It was a pleasure fighting alongside you with the Warhammer Mercenary Group. Thank you."
Gao Yi and the others nodded, shaking hands.
With a simple expression of gratitude, the four departed, taking a taxi straight to the airport, from where a flight would take them home.
And so, the War Axe Mercenary Group was disbanded.
Donkey didn’t seem to feel any sentimentality; he watched his comrades leave with joy, took a breath, then turned to Gao Yi and said, "I now have ten million dollars. With this money, I could very easily reorganize the War Axe Mercenary Group."
Gao Yi nodded.
Donkey seemed to want to say something, hesitated, then said, "In a maximum of two months, the War Axe Mercenary Group will definitely regain its combat strength. If there are any tasks, I mean, just regular-priced tasks, not necessarily high-paying ones, please contact me. It would be my honor."
Gao Yi nodded and replied, "Okay."
With that said, they should have parted ways, but Donkey didn’t leave. He had finished with matters related to the War Axe Mercenary Group, and now it was time to take care of some loose ends.
"What about the loader? How should we handle him?"
Donkey made a gesture and said, "If you think releasing your captured loader will cause trouble, I can take care of him for you."
Gao Yi had forgotten about that loader.
"What did I say we should do with him?"
"You didn’t say."
"Didn’t I promise him any benefits?"
"I don’t remember, did you say that?"
How could Donkey remind Gao Yi of something he had said, especially since Gao Yi had definitely decided not to kill the loader, but what if he changed his mind now?
Gao Yi thought seriously for a moment, then nodded, "I remember now, I said if he fired the cannon I definitely wouldn’t kill him, but I didn’t say I’d give him any benefits."
Donkey just said softly, "After we got back, we locked him up. If you haven’t decided how to deal with him, you can leave it to me."
"Let him go, and also..."
Gao Yi hesitated as he really didn’t have any cash on him, so after a moment’s hesitation he said to Donkey, "Give him fifty thousand US dollars in cash. Do you have it?"
"I have it, yes, I’ll give him fifty thousand to get him to leave. I’ll definitely do as you ask."
Feng Biao said in a low voice, "Let him go back, he probably won’t survive anyway."
Gao Yi looked at Feng and asked, "Do you have any good ways to handle this? After all, he helped us by firing the cannon; I don’t want to just let him go without any concern."
Feng didn’t hesitate to answer, "Leave it to Guerra. Whether Guerra locks him up or lets him go, once Guerra speaks up, no one in Iraq will dare to touch him. It’s just a loader, he’s of no use to Guerra, this person really can’t be found to have much value, it’s impossible for him to gain anyone’s attention."
Gao Yi could save him, but why should Gao Yi go to the trouble for a loader captured as a prisoner.
The tragedy of the little man is also the fate of the little man.
Gao Yi took a breath and said, "Alright, I’ve done everything I could, it’s up to his fate now."
Donkey said nonchalantly, "The loader belongs to the tribal armed forces, he should be able to survive, and he gets fifty thousand dollars, which is already very lucky, extremely lucky. I’ll tell him that you gave him the money, I’ll make him learn the importance of keeping his mouth shut."
Gao Yi nodded, "You handle giving him the cash, I’ll transfer the money to you."
Donkey hurriedly said, "No need, no need, really no need. You’ve already given a lot, how could I take your money."
"Keep accounts clear, not a cent less."
Gao Yi was still influenced by Luca, which meant pay what is due, fifty thousand dollars is a large amount for most people, Gao Yi didn’t want to take advantage of Donkey.
But Donkey really wanted to do these small favors for Gao Yi, it helped to strengthen their connection.
After thinking for a moment, Donkey carefully said, "I want to custom order a pistol like yours, fifty thousand dollars as a deposit, ok? I’ll pay you the rest later, ok?"
"Okay."
Gao Yi would certainly agree to the request, and he also casually added, "I’ll find plenty of 5.8mm caliber bullets and firearms soon, I’ll notify you then, don’t forget our agreement."
"Alright, alright!"
Donkey was happy that Gao Yi had brought up their old agreement again, which meant Gao Yi was serious.
"Well then, I’ll take my leave now, goodbye."
Donkey was astute, knowing when it was time to leave, and he decisively did so.
The members of the War Axe Mercenary Group had left, and Guerra and Joelson still had to deal with the aftermath of taking out Burning Wind; they probably wouldn’t come over for a while.
It was time to deal with Sherkin’s matter.
"Find Sherkin, pay him his due commission, and collect the payment he owes us; it comes out to him owing us two million."
Sherkin was hired for ten million dollars to finish the final task, but then he was sold more than a hundred missile systems. Now that the task was completed, naturally, it was time to settle accounts.
Gao Yi couldn’t help but smile, "Let’s go get the money from him."
Gao Yi took out his phone, preparing to call Sherkin, but before he could dial, his phone rang first.
An unfamiliar number.
Gao Yi answered the call, "Hello, who is this?"
"Hello, Gardener."
The person on the call started with a surprising title for Gao Yi, then said gently, "I am the previous previous Gardener of the Garden."
