A gunshot made everyone in the living room turn pale with shock.

"What’s with the shooting!"

Several people got to their feet and rushed towards Gao Yi’s room, and at the same time, Khalid and several others bolted from their own rooms.

"Why was there gunfire!"

Khalid’s face was etched with panic.

With the situation as it was, firing a gun at this time guaranteed trouble.

The group arrived at Gao Yi’s bedroom door and then they heard a sudden, pained cry from inside.

The group halted, and then Luca spoke with a tone of relief, "Finally..."

Muffled noises and Lucy’s stifled cries of pain could be heard from the room.

Li Jie suddenly spun around, and without saying a word, he quickly gestured for everyone to leave.

Understanding the unspoken agreement, they quickly moved towards the living room. At that moment, Khalid, followed by two men with big beards carrying guns, entered the living room.

Khalid whispered urgently, "Why was there shooting?"

Li Jie replied, very seriously, "It misfired."

Khalid glanced in Gao Yi’s direction, and with a look of lingering fear asked, "Misfired? That’s good, then. Is everyone okay?"

"Everyone’s fine. Don’t go over there and keep quiet."

Li Jie had experience; there was no way he would let Khalid interrupt the boss’s important moment.

The group sat back down in the living room. The shocked Khalid pondered for a moment then said, "This shot shouldn’t be a problem. It’s already been twenty-eight days. According to the plan, we should be moving out. There shouldn’t be anyone watching this area all the time."

No one responded; they all had sly, lewd expressions, communicating through glances without the need for words.

Khalid frowned and asked, "What, is there a problem?"

At that moment, Gao Yi came out looking somber.

His clothes were slightly disheveled, but there was something different about him compared to before; his expression, however, seemed worried.

Gao Yi entered the living room, glanced at everyone, hesitated for a bit, and finally said to Feng Biao, "Brother Biao, come here for a second."

No one else moved, and Feng Biao stepped over to Gao Yi’s side.

Their laughter quickly subdued.

Lin Xianghua turned his head away, speaking softly, "Ah, youth is truly nostalgic. The first time I only had two minutes and it puzzled me for quite a while."

Feng Biao looked scornful, "Yeah, right, keep bragging."

Li Jie couldn’t help but smile. Although Luca didn’t understand, he knew what the topic of discussion was, so he just sighed softly, looking like he was lost in reminiscence.

Only Khalid and the others wore faces full of confusion, yet didn’t feel they could keep prying.

Gao Yi hadn’t left the room since he entered this morning, not until lunchtime when he finally came out again.

His face was radiant, and he seemed incredibly invigorated, the whole person in an excited state.

It looked like he was pleased and wanted to show off something, yet feigned modesty, waiting for others to ask.

Li Jie casually suggested, "How about this? We’ve been cooped up here for more than a month; the wounds have also healed, and we’ll be able to go out soon. Why don’t we... visit these places one by one?"

The living room turned silent for a while, then Khalid hesitated before speaking, "It’s almost been a month. According to the plan, we can try to contact the outside world after completing the month."

Gao Yi nodded, "Yes, in two days, send someone out to check the situation. We’ve made it through a month; a couple more days won’t matter."

Khalid agreed, and then Gao Yi continued, "Come on, let’s keep practicing Arabic."

During this month of idleness, of course, Gao Yi had to learn Arabic, given how much he needed it now.

With the environment and urgent necessity, Gao Yi was picking up the foreign language quickly.

While they were chatting in Arabic, one of Khalid’s men guarding outside suddenly cried out, "There’s a situation!"

Khalid was surprised and said, "Let him in. Why would he come here?"

Gao Yi immediately asked, "Who’s he?"

"My man, he’s been outside. He doesn’t know we’re here. If he’s suddenly come, something must’ve happened outside."

As they were talking, a young man who didn’t seem very old ran into the living room. On seeing Khalid, he said frantically, "Boss, an American man, he claims to be from the CIA, found me. He told me you all were safe now and insisted you meet him right away. Also, he says his name is Joelson."
