Chapter 245: Chapter 232 Gunfighting Skill
In this world, there’s no such thing as absolute fairness, only absolute unfairness.
Just like with innate talent—some are one in a hundred, some one in a thousand, there are those one in ten thousand, and even those one in a hundred million or several billion, the peerless geniuses.
Take sports for example, for a more intuitive comparison. If all six billion people on Earth raced in a one hundred meters dash, the fastest would still be Bolt. And in a more skill-based and oppositional sport, there’s only one Jordan among billions of humans.
Ultimately, there is such an existence at the pinnacle of humanity, whose purpose is to defeat everyone, to best all humankind, to be number one in a certain field.
In terms of physical qualities, Gao Yi was already a once-in-ten-thousand-years martial arts prodigy. Intellectually, his brain seemed designed for martial arts training. Then there were the educational resources not easily accessible to ordinary people; he was the heir of the most powerful martial arts family and, in an age when martial arts were fading, he inherited the secret techniques of several other great houses, bestowing upon him treasures that others would hide away.
So now, boasting about martial arts, Gao Yi could proudly claim he was the best in the world.
If anyone were to challenge Gao Yi in martial arts, then he would be unequivocally considered the best in the world, because no one could beat him.
That’s how confident he was, how domineering—unrivaled under heaven.
But if it came to using guns, I’m sorry, that’s a different domain.
Just as Bolt playing basketball is like Jordan running the hundred meters; they’d immediately go from being invincible to merely background figures to the real invincible ones.
But imagine if Bolt trained in basketball for a few years, even if he couldn’t replace Jordan, couldn’t he still make a name for himself in the world of basketball?
Jordan, besides playing basketball, started training in track and field. With his physical qualities, couldn’t he make some waves in that field as well?
What Gao Yi was doing now was akin to this sort of venture—invincible in close combat, he barged into the realm where guns do the talking and suddenly discovered that combining Kung Fu with shooting was actually pretty formidable.
Cross-disciplinary, misaligned competition, advantages from being out of place.
Kung Fu plus soccer becomes Kung Fu Soccer, so what should Kung Fu plus shooting be called? Kung Fu gunfighting?
No, that’s not quite right, there seems to be a specific term, called Gunfighting Skill.
Using Kung Fu stances and movements to shoot, as long as the shots are accurate, that should count as Gunfighting Skill.
In fact, Gao Yi had just discovered that he could use Gunfighting Skill.
It happened when he realized someone behind him still managed to shoot, and it seemed like he couldn’t dodge, so he performed an on-the-spot sideways somersault, evading a shot aiming for his head and a shot at his legs, ultimately taking an unavoidable shot in an area protected by a Bullet-Proof Vest.
One move, two outcomes.
The result was six people dead, and Gao Yi unharmed.
Mastery of Kung Fu, the ability to shoot, and what’s key, a divine precision with hidden weapons. Still, this craft traditionally involved throwing things like locust stones, iron galls, or flying knives, while Gao Yi’s hidden weapons were Hand Grenades.
Combine the two, and a freak of nature was born.
No, not a freak, an invincible deity of close-quarters indoor combat came into being.
Adding the indoor environment as a limiting condition, because ultimately Gao Yi couldn’t withstand bullets from a heavy machine gun or bombardment. But indoors, where are the heavy machine guns and cannons? That made him essentially invincible.
Even outnumbered, he remained unbeatable.
A single battle had silenced everyone involved and those thousands of miles away watching the screens. That’s true power.
Flip, land, shoot. One shot took down the person shooting from behind, and then two more shots each finished off two seemingly intact men. No one alive remained in the precinct entrance courtyard.
Six men were taken down in the blink of an eye, that was half of them.
Gao Yi turned and entered the building, only to see George and Aliza both holding rifles, with the old policeman clutching his foot and hopping around.
Gao Yi had cleared the front entrance by himself, while George and the others teamed up to block the back door. It looked like they had just traded fire.
George whispered, "We hit two people just now, but all three of us got shot. I and Aliza are lucky—the Bullet-Proof Vests stopped the bullets."
George was a pleasant surprise; he had already cleared the enemies for Gao Yi once today, and this time, he stopped an assault that could have led to a collapse.
If the enemies had broken through the back door, they wouldn’t need to do much. Just throw a Hand Grenade into the resting room filled with wounded, and Gao Yi would spend the latter half of his life in agony.
But thankfully, George stopped it, and he even hit two people.
Gao Yi’s gaze towards George was now filled with gratitude. He nodded and moved to leave.
Advance and break through. Whether they were Assassins or mercenaries, they just couldn’t let the enemies get inside the house.
And as Gao Yi prepared to take the offensive again, George suddenly said, "Careful! I’ll cover you, careful!"
It was comradeship forged in battle. Gao Yi nodded, took a deep breath, still holding the gun in his left hand while tearing a Hand Grenade from his chest with his right.
He had to use an offensive grenade, because that’s what offensive Hand Grenades are for, to throw toward the enemy’s possible location. Upon explosion, simultaneously attack without fearing getting hurt by your own grenade.
Let’s explain a tactical detail here.
Gao Yi wouldn’t start by throwing a hand grenade outside the door, waiting for the explosion, and then rushing out.
Because anyone with a bit of experience would know to find cover that could protect them. Seeing a hand grenade flying out, they would only need to duck to avoid it, and then prepare for a barrage of firepower as someone would undoubtedly come charging out.
Gao Yi did not follow traditional indoor combat tactics. He didn’t want a frontal assault. He sought to surprise, to rely on his agile movements, unpredictable positioning, fast and precise gun skills, and hand grenades that could be smashed directly into faces to solve problems.
The ultimate close combat king, who could combine all advantageous factors of melee combat into one, had no problem taking on multiple opponents.
With his right hand loosening, the pin on the hand grenade’s handle popped out. In four more seconds, it would explode in Gao Yi’s hand.
At this point, Gao Yi was still inside the room.
Gao Yi started running.
Timing had to be impeccably precise, leaving at most one second before the grenade exploded. Gao Yi knew the moment he stepped out the door would be pivotal.
Counting the seconds in his mind, three, two, one.
As he counted to one, Gao Yi’s front foot had just stepped through the back door. He needed to spot a target and throw the grenade in a split second or else he’d simply have to toss it randomly.
He couldn’t let it explode in his own hand.
But how could he not encounter an enemy in such a situation, where he was attacking from behind a door?
As Gao Yi left the room, it seemed he saw someone at the corner of the wall. Therefore, he swung his right arm and with a sinking shoulder, he plunged to the ground in a diving posture.
The hand grenade flew out for a mid-air explosion, while Gao Yi landed heavily on his right shoulder.
Feeling the immense resistance from his right shoulder, Gao Yi used the momentum to pivot on that shoulder, almost lying on the ground. His legs swiftly kicked back and forth once, spinning quickly on the spot.
It was like a child spinning around on the ground, similar to the leg scissor moves in Tumbling Boxing. Not a fixed move or technique, it looked amusing yet was highly effective.
No enemy in sight, Gao Yi’s spinning on the ground was aimed first to dodge deadly bullets and second to quickly locate his foes.
He spotted one.
Pivoting on his right shoulder allowed him to free his left hand to shoot. Although his left shoulder was injured, he couldn’t feel the pain at the moment.
A single shot rang out. The forehead of an extremely brave man, who had thrust his entire body out to shoot at Gao Yi, suddenly had a bloody hole.
Next to him was someone with a contorted face from shock.
If Gao Yi had just rolled out and tumbled on the ground, then he would have been a joke.
No matter how fast he rolled or tumbled, could he be faster than a bullet?
Rolling would have just provided entertainment for the enemy, but throwing a grenade first and then shooting while rolling was different.
He was firing bullets as he rolled and tumbled, and each shot was lethal.
The pistol was aimed at Gao Yi’s head, but due to the fast spinning on the ground, his head remained at the center of rotation, making it the easiest target to hit.
But at that moment, Gao Yi sprung to his feet. His right hand supported him on the ground while he shot with his left hand, unimpeded in his swift side rise from the ground.
It was impossible to predict or catch, the target was right in front, yet it was unattainable.
Slow motion makes it seem simple, but from the enemy’s perspective, encountering Gao Yi was a different story altogether.
A whirlwind-like shadow burst forward, flinging a hand grenade, and with two shots from his left hand, as he spun on the ground and then sprang up, he fired another shot while rising.
If these actions were slow and leisurely, they would be laughable. But if completed in the blink of an eye, they were terrifying.
Three shots, Gao Yi fired three times before his enemy could manage a single shot, and it didn’t hit him.
Gao Yi sprung from the ground, quickly pivoting to stand, and instantly sat down again with his legs crossed.
The main tactic was to be alternately high and low, then interspersed with side-to-side movements.
Not seeking to be unscathed by bullets but aiming to avoid fatal hits. Then, these strange moves became quite useful.
The outcome was that with one grenade and three shots, Gao Yi instantly eliminated four threatening opponents, and then he saw an enemy lying on the ground, not hit by him, but he finished him off with a shot.
The last one was a dead man lying by the door, likely just killed by George.
That settled it. Six in the front, six in the back, the count matched, and it was done.
Above was a drone, flashing its lights and humming.
The footage provided by the drone was received by someone in the car, then relayed to a screen thousands of miles away.
A group of people gloomily watched the screen in deadly silence, until the Director of Europe couldn’t help but exclaim, "WTF... What kind of monster is this!"
Finally, someone broke the silence, and another said with resignation, "Director, we have no options left, it’s over."
