Chapter 194: Chapter 182 Deliberate over a Lengthy Period
Lucy was pouting as she handed over a hammer to Gao Yi, her face still tense.
"Here!"
After handing the hammer to Gao Yi quite indifferently, Lucy pondered for a moment, and then suddenly said, "I don’t like Luca."
Gao Yi was greatly surprised, for this was the first time Lucy had explicitly expressed liking or disliking someone.
"Why?"
"He lacks respect for you, I don’t like the things he says."
After saying that, Lucy thought for a moment, and then added another line.
"You look cool when you use the hammer, not just swinging it."
The butler was driving, with Gao Yi and Mu Tianwen in the back seat, so Lucy could only sit in the passenger seat.
After speaking, Lucy turned around to buckle up her seatbelt and looked straight ahead, then suddenly said, "It’s nothing."
It was indeed a bit inexplicable, but after Mu Tianwen watched vacantly from the back seat for a moment, he suddenly said, "Sister-in-law is really... straightforward."
Gao Yi paused for a moment.
Mu Tianwen looked at Gao Yi and continued, "So, the special purpose of the hammer that sister-in-law gave you is?"
"Ah, uh, well, it’s the usual purpose of a hammer, to smash things."
Mu Tianwen nodded, then continued, "Okay, so you and sister-in-law are going to accompany me in, and then we’ll play it by ear."
"That’s right."
"Anything else?"
"That’s all."
Mu Tianwen was not short, but he was quite thin, and kids of his age usually are thin, his skin slightly dark, making him look a bit more naive.
Indeed, he was young and had not yet learned to hide his thoughts.
Worry became apparent on Mu Tianwen’s face.
"No, Big Brother, just you and sister-in-law, with no weapons, are we just going to go in and out like this?"
Gao Yi’s face remained calm as he said, "Yes, if you’re really worried, you can have them meet in the restaurant."
"Meeting in the restaurant, is there some special meaning to that?"
"Yes, my combat power doubles in a restaurant, I can say I’m invincible there."
Mu Tianwen had strong confidence in Gao Yi, but he was not a child who had never seen the world.
"That..."
"Also, don’t call me Big Brother, your dad is my Big Brother, so you should call me Uncle..."
Mu Tianwen thought for a moment, then said, "Let’s each stick to our own terms, you call my dad Big Brother, I’ll call you Big Brother, mainly because all those I’ve called Uncle are dead, I always feel that calling you Uncle doesn’t seem quite right."
Gao Yi was at a loss for words, then he nodded and said, "Fine, each to their own terms."
After pondering for a while, Mu Tianwen said, "Then let’s do it this way, we’ll first go in to check the situation, to confirm if Abdulla is really inside, if he is, we’ll come out, call for backup, then go in again, they definitely won’t have a chance to run. If he’s not there..."
"If he’s not there, it means they lured you over and it becomes dangerous."
After saying this, Gao Yi patted Mu Tianwen’s shoulder again and said earnestly, "So whether Abdulla is inside or not, it’s dangerous, I reckon we’ll have to take action, so you need to be mentally prepared, of course, if it’s really not appropriate to take action, then we’ll find another opportunity to go in."
"I’m not doubting you, but sister-in-law doesn’t look like she can fight, why do you insist on taking sister-in-law instead of your two subordinates?"
Gao Yi smiled mysteriously and said, "You don’t understand that, your sister-in-law may look fragile, but in fact, she is a Berserker, when it really comes to fighting, she’s far more formidable than others."
"Big Brother... a hero without equal, sister-in-law a hero in women’s attire; since you both act in concert, I’ll be looking forward to it."
The Green Zone isn’t small, but it’s not so vast that it’s endless. Just discussing the plan on the road, a twenty minutes’ drive was enough to reach the destination.
The place arranged to meet Mu Tianwen was a villa by the river in Baghdad, where, especially in the Green Zone, a riverside villa was quite scarce, but a person who could be Harold’s accomplice surely wouldn’t lack the funds for it.
The car stopped at the entrance. Mu Tianwen took a deep breath, still feeling nervous, so after mustering his courage several times, he finally opened the car door.
As he got out, the butler also moved to exit the car when Gao Yi spoke softly, "You don’t need to get out. Just wait in the car and if anything happens, use the walkie-talkie to call for backup. The others will respond from behind."
Looking back, he saw Luca and their cars stopped two hundred meters away. The distance was a bit far, but considering the unknown situation inside, it seemed better to keep some distance to avoid being caught in one fell swoop.
Three people got out of the car, and Lucy had that expressionless look on her face. She now knew the role she had to play, so she naturally stood by Mu Tianwen’s side.
Gao Yi was to the left and Lucy to the right as Mu Tianwen strolled towards the entrance. Before he could even speak, the iron gate slowly opened.
Gao Yi followed Mu Tianwen as he casually walked in.
In the courtyard, two people could be seen wearing Bullet-Proof Vests and holding rifles, not AKs but SCARs, which were rare in Baghdad.
After a brief exchange in Arabic, someone quickly walked out from the house. He looked at Gao Yi and Lucy, his gaze lingering on Lucy for an extra two seconds, then he said something in a low voice to Mu Tianwen before walking into the villa’s main hall.
There was no one in the yard, but the living room was crowded.
At least ten people, all armed with guns and wearing heavy Bullet-Proof Vests, were clearly ready for a firefight at any moment.
By their complexion and features, most of these men were Middle Eastern people, though there were two who looked like Eastern Europeans. Their origins, however, were unclear.
After a brief conversation, someone came up and gestured for Gao Yi to raise his hands for a pat-down, and another fully-armed individual signaled for Lucy to be inspected.
Mu Tianwen immediately took offense, harshly scolding them for a moment. The person who had greeted them then sheepishly motioned with his hand, and the soldier who had attempted to search Lucy promptly backed away.
But Gao Yi still needed to be searched. He had no gun, but the soldier easily pulled a small hammer from his waist.
Without the hammer, Gao Yi felt a slight regret.
No one said anything. After all, having only a hammer and no gun or bomb on him was already a sincere approach.
Someone said something in Arabic, and Mu Tianwen turned to Gao Yi, "They say you have to leave your hammer here. You can take it with you when you leave."
But before Gao Yi could respond, Mu Tianwen gestured impatiently at the soldier who searched him, then took the hammer from the soldier’s hand.
"My father suffered a lot at Abdulla’s hands. I brought this hammer to break his fingers one by one. Is there a problem?"
Holding the hammer, he asked the greeter a few questions. The greeter then responded, "No problem, please take it with you. Sorry, this is just... a normal precaution. Please understand, also..."
With that, the search was over, but it was necessary for Lucy to undergo a search. The greeter pointed to a room, "Please have her wait inside. There are only women in there."
Mu Tianwen hesitated for a moment before saying to Lucy, "Wait for us in this room."
Mu Tianwen spoke gently. Lucy looked at Gao Yi, and after he nodded, she immediately left.
Handing the hammer to Gao Yi, he naturally slipped it back into his waistband, and they followed the person who might be the butler or receptionist, finally entering a secret room.
Even if it was a secret room, with no windows and lavishly furnished, several single sofas were placed around, but there was no table.
Inside, five people were sitting. One of them wore a suit with a very displeased expression, two wore white robes, one in a black robe, and one in a white robe with gold trim.
But these were just the people sitting. There were seven standing, three in tactical gear and four in suits.
Mu Tianwen greeted each of the robed figures in turn, then looked with a puzzled expression at the middle-aged man in the suit.
"This is the CIA representative."
Mu Tianwen nodded, then sat down in an empty armchair.
The CIA man seemed displeased as he looked first at Gao Yi, then at Mu Tianwen, saying, "Does Harold only intend to send a child in his stead? If that’s the case, how can we support him?"
Mu Tianwen didn’t say a word. The man in the white robe next to him was about to speak when the CIA man waved his hand, "Sending the person to Harold was your collective decision. I am not involved in your decision-making, but because of your issue tonight, we lost many brothers. So I hope that you will consider any decisions carefully."
Gao Yi didn’t know what they had discussed before, so he treated this man’s words as if they were mere hot air. It had nothing to do with him.
Still in Arabic, Mu Tianwen seemed to handle the situation quite well. After a few words, all four robed men nodded repeatedly, then one of them pointed to a door and said a few words.
Mu Tianwen looked excited, he said to Gao Yi, "Let’s go see that damned bastard! I want to make him..."
His speech trailed off, but his gritted teeth, clenched fists, and sneering expression were all very age-appropriate.
Gao Yi followed Mu Tianwen toward the door. A man in a suit opened it, and inside sat Abdulla, bound to a chair.
Two cameras were pointed at Abdulla, filming.
Despite his pale, blood-streaked face, it was indeed Abdulla, alive though clearly in pain. It was obvious he had been tortured but was in no mortal danger.
Mu Tianwen stroked his fist, but a person beside him shook their head and spoke something in Arabic.
Mu Tianwen looked at Gao Yi.
Gao Yi hesitated.
With the situation as it was, storming in was not feasible. Gathering more men to come over might work, but using the hammer didn’t seem right; too many people, too dangerous.
Gao Yi nodded slightly, speaking softly, "It’s him. Let’s play the long game."
Mu Tianwen would surely understand the underlying meaning of those words.
Mu Tianwen turned around, hesitated for a moment as he faced his father’s loyalists, then, as if possessed, said, "I’m hungry. I haven’t eaten anything since yesterday. Can someone get me some food? Can we talk while eating?"
