Chapter 163: Chapter 152: Don’t Even Think About It

The Number One Master was gone, captured.

This news was too explosive, enough to astonish Gao Yi.

"What’s going on, Harold was arrested?"

Hearing Gao Yi’s tone didn’t sound like a joke, Grins answered anxiously, "Yes, this matter has very vast and broad implications. News reports have already emerged. I don’t have much information myself. You can get more detailed information by watching the news."

"Got it, I’ll watch it right now!"

After hanging up the phone, Gao Yi dashed back to the room where Feng Biao and Lin Xianghua were.

Unsure why Gao Yi had returned so abruptly, the two of them stood up in surprise.

"Boss..."

Gao Yi didn’t bother to respond to them, turning on the television while Luca urged frantically at his side, "Quick, quick..."

It was indeed on the news, because Shaman didn’t intend to hide or disguise anything.

The operation had already started, and more than a dozen people had been arrested, among which either were tycoons or officials, each worth billions or tens of billions.

The reporters had already announced the list, which meant that people were being arrested according to the list, and also indicated that Shaman had planned this for some time; otherwise, how could actions be taken simultaneously nationwide.

On television, there was even footage of Harold being escorted out of his house, looking astonished, and his face filled with anger when he saw the cameras outside, though he was not handcuffed, he was pushed into a luxury car with flashing police lights.

In Saudi, even the police cars used for arrests were Rolls-Royces.

Gao Yi took a sharp inhale.

"Damn!"

With a low sigh, Gao Yi turned around, addressing Luca and the others, "It’s over, the big brother has really been caught."

Feng Biao hesitated, wanting to speak but stopping.

Gao Yi’s face was bitter as he spoke in a low voice, "We thought they were fools, but they’re not stupid at all... They were playing a game of letting us off to use us as a tool!"

Luca, quick with numbers, might not be quick with reactions; he asked in astonishment, "What do you mean?"

Feng Biao said softly, "The National Intelligence Bureau, or Abdulla, or Shaman behind him, had long planned to target Harold and the Fesari brothers. Abdulla enlisting us to assassinate and implicate Harold was just a smoke screen. His true intent was for our evidence to reassure Harold, making Harold’s faction think Shaman’s target was to cause trouble using Fesari’s death."

Gao Yi commented blandly, "But Shaman’s appetite was much bigger than what Harold and the others thought. It’s not just a bite out of the fat they’re after – they want the whole pot!"

Feng Biao sighed deeply, "Shaman used our testimony to provoke Harold, and when Harold took further action, such as rallying many to pressure Shaman, it gave Shaman reason to act directly. One fell swoop, no one missed, taking everyone down."

No more explanations were needed, Luca understood now.

Luca suddenly realized, "So it doesn’t matter whether we implicate Harold or even whether we assassinate him, and it doesn’t even matter if we inform Harold and then immediately leave. Three choices, no matter what we pick, Shaman will achieve his goal."

"Yes, that’s right."

Gao Yi placed a hand on his forehead and whispered, "Our choices don’t matter because we’re just a catalyst, no matter what we chose, Shaman had enough reason to go after Harold. I’ve been so foolish; I thought Shaman and the people at the National Intelligence Bureau were too stupid, just letting us escape."

Feng Biao offered a wry smile, "Now it turns out that we are the fools."

Lin Xianghua spoke quietly, "We’re not fools, it’s not that others are fools; it’s just that the National Intelligence Bureau never took us seriously."

Everyone fell silent for a while until Luca suddenly said, "It’s fine, no worries! Our money’s been transferred, and we’ve got the cash. Even if something happens to the big brother, it’s got nothing to do with us..."

As Luca’s voice trailed off, he let out a resigned long sigh, "What a shame that our wealthy backer is gone."

Gao Yi scratched his head, "We returned on the big brother’s private plane, after all..."

Luca shook his head, "Don’t think about it anymore, it’s not something we can get involved in."

"No chance even to get a word in."

After Feng Biao grumbled, he spoke helplessly, "Let’s leave it be. I guess, the big brother will just lose some money. With his wealth, coughing up a portion should be no issue."

The news was still playing when Lin Xianghua suddenly said, "They’ve actually been taken to a five-star hotel? A hotel, not a prison, so it’s house arrest?"

The group turned to the TV again. Though they could only see the exterior and had no idea what it was like inside, the hotel at least looked luxurious.

Feng Biao chuckled, "That shows even more that there’s no problem. Yeah, no problem is good. The big brother was quite generous and kind; knowing he’s okay is a relief. Boss, you also don’t need to worry too much; this is now political infighting, and you can’t help."

Not only did Feng Biao know how to flatter, but he also knew how to ease tensions.

Gao Yi took a deep breath, "Yeah, can’t help. Let it be. For the next few days, let’s keep an eye on the news, fish for a bit more information, then let’s get on with our own business."

They were all caught up in a high-level power struggle in another country, where all those involved were prominent and wealthy. What could Gao Yi, a mere assassin, do?

Though he was not in high spirits, even though he had only met Harold twice, Harold had been incredibly generous. From any perspective, Harold had been good to Gao Yi, and if Gao Yi remained indifferent, it would be too heartless of him.

Trying to muster some spirit, Gao Yi continued, "Although we are now in the United States, we can’t take it too lightly. After all, money talks, so we need to be careful for a while."

"Yes, we do need to be careful," Luca affirmed quickly.

They had just gotten off the plane not long ago, and they couldn’t keep Harold’s private plane a secret, so they had to leave quickly. Gao Yi had planned to find some time to go to Texas to get the guns from Li Jie, but now he felt it was better to stick together, a way to lay low.

"Come with me to Texas. We can’t stay here; we’re leaving immediately."

It wasn’t exactly dangerous, but the atmosphere had already tensed. Gao Yi gestured with his hand, "We’ll talk on the road, no more flying; we’re driving to Texas."

They had just settled in, and they hadn’t even had a chance to lie down on the hotel beds before they had to leave.

With nothing much to pack, they were ready to go immediately. No car, but renting one after stepping out was fine; what mattered was getting some distance from the airport they landed at.

But as they were about to leave, there was a persistent discomfort in their hearts.

Leaving the hotel and on their way to get a car, Gao Yi seemed preoccupied with heavy thoughts, and Luca couldn’t help but become concerned. He drew closer to Gao Yi and whispered, "What are you thinking?"

"I’m thinking..."

Seeing Gao Yi wrestling with himself, Luca blurted out anxiously, "I’m warning you, don’t even think about it, don’t think! You mustn’t think!"

Gao Yi spread his hands and let out a sigh.

Gao Yi was just thinking, not daring to voice it nor feeling right to express it.

But Gao Yi’s silence only provoked Luca even more.

Finally, stamping his foot in resignation, Luca said, "It’s such a pity to lose a backer like that. If you really want to think, then think about it."

Gao Yi gave Luca a disdainful look and let out another helpless sigh, "Sigh, it’s just thinking. It’s tough; I can’t think of any solution."
