Chapter 161 - 150 Iron Rooster

Chapter 161: Chapter 150 Iron Rooster

"Wind Vane really transferred one million dollars to an account, the account holder’s name is Alyosha, with the account opened at Swiss Bank, yet all the funds have been moved in batches to an account at the Russian Federation Foreign Trade Bank, where the account holder is named Lanakova."

The information was all provided by Feng Biao. Luca was merely verifying it, but he did so quickly and indeed confirmed that Feng Biao had passed all the money to someone else.

It wasn’t certain if it was truly given to a comrade’s widow, but at least the money ended up in the hands of a Russian woman.

"So what Feng Biao said was true then."

"I believe it is true."

Gao Yi thought for a moment and spoke in a low voice, "Remember the name and account numbers, and keep an eye on them. If he’s lying to us, then this person can’t stay, but if he didn’t lie to us, then this person could be entrusted with a heavy responsibility."

Luca nodded gravely and said quietly, "Now we can let him join the Garden, it wouldn’t hurt to have one more person."

If Lin Xianghua agreed and Luca concurred, then there was nothing more to say.

Because Gao Yi had long wanted to bring Feng Biao under his command.

Gao Yi approached Feng Biao and said with a smile, "So you really want to run with me."

"Of course, it’s sincere. Running with you guys, apart from the prospects and how much money I can make, at least I don’t have to worry about being betrayed and abandoned by you. If you treat me well, I’ll definitely treat you well in return."

"Good, but running with us can be dangerous."

Feng Biao chuckled, "Is it more dangerous than being a lone wolf who can’t find a Mercenary Group to take him in and can only do odd jobs?"

"No need to say more then, at least you’ll have someone to rely on."

Gao Yi wasn’t one to throw money around carelessly; he certainly gave what was due, not a penny less, but he firmly refused to give what wasn’t due, not a penny more.

However, if Feng Biao really gave all the money away, then he would have none left, and Gao Yi certainly couldn’t let his subordinates go hungry and with empty wallets working for him.

"Do you have any money right now?"

Feng Biao nodded, "Still got a few thousand dollars, definitely enough to last me until the next payday."

"That’s not certain, the assassin business isn’t that plentiful or frequent."

After speaking faintly, Gao Yi said to Luca, "Give him fifty thousand, loan it to him, and deduct it from his salary."

Luca nodded, and then said to Feng Biao, "Borrowed money requires interest, a fixed monthly rate of two percent."

Mercy doesn’t govern soldiers, righteousness doesn’t manage money.

Although Gao Yi doesn’t blink an eye when killing someone, he is still a merciful person, so he doesn’t handle money. He said that all financial affairs of the Garden were under Luca’s charge, so it was Luca who was in charge.

But charging one’s own people interest seemed a bit excessive.

Feng Biao was also baffled and after a moment of hesitation, he said, "Interest? Then... forget about it, no, wait a minute, how much is two percent a month?"

"Borrow fifty thousand, that’s one thousand dollars interest each month."

Feng Biao took a sharp breath as Gao Yi felt somewhat embarrassed, Luca spoke with a serious face, "This interest is already low. If you borrowed from usurers, the monthly interest would be at least five percent or even higher, some could charge you twenty percent a month or even more."

"I thought about it, seems like I don’t really have any need for money, so just forget about it."

Feng Biao chuckled dryly and declined to take on debt.

Gao Yi suppressed the impulse to break Luca’s rule and said to Feng Biao, "There’s one more thing. You say your name is Feng Tianqi? That’s quite a bold name. Just wondering, do you want to use your real name in the future, or do you prefer an alias?"

Feng Biao hesitated, then spoke in a low voice, "I’m currently known as Wind Vane, so I call myself Feng Biao, because then people might think my nickname is a pun. But I don’t like the nickname Wind Vane, and I don’t like the name Feng Biao either."

Lin Xianghua suddenly said, "Be satisfied. You weren’t named Chameleon or Fence-sitter, which is fortunate. Wind Vane is actually a neutral nickname, what’s there to dislike?"

Feng Biao chuckled twice and spoke quietly, "But ultimately, it’s not what I want, so... I’ll just keep going as Feng Biao. Maybe someday, when everyone knows Feng Tianqi stands for a flag of honor, you can call me by my full name then."

The shadow in his heart was rather large, even reluctant to use his own real name.

Gao Yi nodded and said, "Alright then, Luca, open an account for Old Feng. In the future, when distributing money and such, just add it to his card. I’m off to check on Number 55."

The most worry-free was Number 55, yet she was also the most troublesome.

If Number 55 were to be continued as Consumables, she would have to be thrown into a place where she can’t interact with the outside world, simply carry on with her nun life.

Gao Yi was neither a psychopath nor so heartless, so he wanted to make 55 a normal person.

Stay and work for the Garden if willing; leave if not. After all, treating a living person as a robot wasn’t something Gao Yi could actually bring himself to do.

Luca frowned, his original reason for persuading Gao Yi against it was because there was an urgent matter looming and there wasn’t any time to destabilize 55’s mentality.

But now that everything had been taken care of and a long rest period would definitely follow, there was no reason to drag his feet any longer.

Truth be told, Luca really thought that consumables were easier to use. He hated the idea of using up something that could be saved, but turning consumables into a normal person would take a considerable amount of time and energy, and most importantly, the Garden might lose a good assistant who could work well with Gao Yi.

After hesitating for a moment, Luca said to Gao Yi, "You..."

"Don’t say anything, nothing at all. I know you can’t spit out ivory."

Gao Yi walked away after he spoke, and Luca stood there baffled. He turned to Lin Xianghua and Feng Biao and asked, "What does ’can’t spit out ivory’ mean?"

Lin Xianghua looked uncomfortable while Feng Biao immediately said, "Ah, it means whatever you’re going to say, he already understands, no need to say it; he knows already."

Luca looked dubious, but seeing that Gao Yi had already left through the door, he ended up shrugging his shoulders. Then he told Feng Biao, "If you need money urgently in the future, you can ask me for an advance on your salary or a share. I will provide it at the minimum standard, but you can’t call it a loan. If it’s a loan, then you have to pay interest. That’s the rule."

Feng Biao responded with a helpless look, "It wasn’t me who said it’s a loan, it’s the boss who said he loaned it to me."

"Yes, he said it’s a loan to you, so of course, interest should be included. Blame his poor choice of words. Now, you can ask for an advance on your salary. We’re a team, a whole. If a fellow employee is facing difficulties and needs money, of course, we have to support. So, do you need an advance on your salary? Oh, you don’t have a fixed salary. Then, do you want an advance on your share... uh, you also don’t have a fixed share."

Feng Biao really wanted to call him an asshole for toying with him, but as a newcomer, it was better not to offend the finance person.

"So what are you saying..."

"Let’s give you a fixed 1% share," Luca continued, "But your share is on a variable basis, based on your performance. It can range from 1% at the lowest to 10% at the highest of the total commission. How does that sound?"

Feng Biao’s eyes widened in astonishment, "One percent, that’s... not very... uh..."

Luca kept a calm demeanor and pointed to Lin Xianghua, "Don’t compare yourself with him. The boss and I are co-founders, he has original shares and can also be considered a co-founder, while you’re a new employee. It’s different, of course."

Feng Biao smacked his lips in resignation, "Alright then, one percent it is. One percent of forty million is..."

"Four hundred thousand."

Feng Biao wore a mask of pain — the disparity was a bit too much. But Luca continued, "Like I said, this is a guaranteed minimum share. If you play a significant role, it could go all the way up to ten percent. Additionally, forty million in revenue is an exception, a very rare exception. Don’t set your expectations too high. Usually, our single mission revenue fluctuates around one million dollars, so you need to lower your expectations."

It was the path he had chosen; he’d have to see it through, kneeling or not, regardless of how much he earned. Feng Biao firmly believed that Gao Yi wouldn’t let him suffer.

This finance guy, though, was really a piece of work.

Gritting his teeth, Feng Biao said resentfully, "Fine, I agree!"

Luca started to smile, "That’s settled then. Do you want to take an advance on the minimum share of a single mission?"

"How much?"

"Ten thousand."

Feng Biao let out a breath and shook his head, "Never mind, I don’t need it. I’d rather wait till the action starts and then spend money with peace of mind."

Luca gave a small smile, then made a gesture and said, "I’ve got to see how the boss is doing with 55, you guys chat."

And with that, Luca also left the room.

Only Feng Biao and Lin Xianghua were left.

Finally, Feng Biao couldn’t hold back and said to Lin Xianghua, "He’s really an Iron Rooster, isn’t he?"

Lin Xianghua showed a troubled expression but eventually conceded, "He’s not an Iron Rooster, he just has principles. Actually, it’s good this way. You don’t owe him money, and he sure won’t owe you any. Everything is clear and clean, isn’t that nice?"

"That may be true, but he’s still an Iron Rooster all the same, right?"

Lin Xianghua hesitated again and finally nodded slightly, whispering, "A principled Iron Rooster."

Gao Yi did the right thing by putting finances in Luca’s hands. The money could have been lost in someone else’s hands, but with Luca, no one could take an extra cent from him.

Now, Lin Xianghua had inexplicably become a millionaire, whereas Feng Biao was still strapped for cash. Feeling the stark difference, Feng Biao was even more eager to get some action going.

"Sigh, who knows when the next mission will be."

Listening to Feng Biao’s lament, Lin Xianghua pondered for a moment before saying, "Well, we’ll have to wait for that. Right now, with so much money, we should spend some before heading back to work. Let’s take a holiday first."
