Chapter 137: Chapter 127 The Harvest Season
Saibu had become especially wretched after not being seen for a few days.
It wasn’t that he had so many wounds on him or a kind of misery close to his last breath, but rather, he seemed total soulless, as though his spirit had been drained. Although he could still stand, his eyes had lost all their luster, making him appear idiotic.
Moreover, the moment he saw someone, he instinctively shrank back, and speaking was utterly out of the question.
How could someone be tormented into a walking corpse within just three short days? Did the Secret Action Bureau possess such formidable methods?
Gao Yi looked puzzledly at Luca as he had been by Grins’s side throughout these days, so he should know the details clearly.
"Yesterday, they gave him a truth serum, you know, the kind that makes one spill all their truths. Although it causes irreversible brain damage, luckily, the serums nowadays are much improved compared to before. They don’t actually turn a person into an idiot. In a few days, once the effects wear off, though his memory will degrade and his reactions will slow, he’ll be able to return to a, um, normal level of living."
Luca looked at Saibu with a wistful expression, "The Americans do have their ways. I wonder when they came up with such a drug. He spilled everything yesterday, not only did he pull out an additional five million dollars, but he also gave up a bunch of memories he thought were very precious and secret. Tsk tsk, this guy is pretty ruthless."
Gao Yi curiously asked, "Pretty ruthless? How ruthless?"
Luca glanced at Gao Yi and after pondering for a moment, he finally said, "Do you really want to know?"
"How so, very dark?"
"Dark and cruel beyond your imagination. After hearing it, I was a mess. It completely overturned my view of life. It took three stiff drinks last night just to get some sleep."
If even Luca couldn’t weather it, Gao Yi decided it was better not to know.
It was good enough to get paid upon completing the mission. Saibu was just like merchandise, sell the goods, get the money, end of the story.
"Let’s not discuss that, then. Right now, let’s contact the client and begin completing our mission!"
Luca logged onto the internet, found the mission’s contact on the Dark Web, and sent a private message.
"We’ve completed the mission; the target is in our hands, alive. You can make the payment now, and then decide whether you want him alive or dead."
After sending the message, Luca let out a long sigh of relief and smiled at Gao Yi, "This is my first time undertaking such a mission, having the target right in our grasp, with the client deciding whether he lives or dies. Not even the Garden has had such a glorious moment in hundreds of years, huh? Is this something an assassin can do? Haha, but we did it."
Gao Yi and Lin Xianghua nodded in unison, asking in chorus, "Is there a chance to earn extra?"
Exuberant, Luca said, "The client’s primary goal was to get even, to personally take him down and vent his anger, surely he’ll want him alive. So additional money is a must, indeed there will be extra cash."
Gao Yi expressed his concern, "But if we hand him over alive, we’d have to transact with the client face-to-face. How do we deliver the person?"
"Let the client worry about that. It’s their job to collect the person and pay for it. Of course, if they want us to transport him, sure, but for an extra fee. This is service beyond the scope of the mission. At any rate, we should get an additional... one million, I’d say."
Just then, the Dark Web responded.
"You’ve caught Saibu? Alive?"
Luca quickly replied, "Yes, alive."
"Prove it to me."
Luca immediately lifted his phone to take a photo of Saibu and sent it over.
"See? He’s still living, in our hands. Now, how would you like to proceed with the transaction?"
"A face-to-face exchange. Our men are in Kuwait. The deal can be concluded immediately after the target is delivered to Kuwait, with the payment being made in person."
Luca smiled confidently and wrote on his phone, "We’re in Baghdad. If you’re paying the bounty of five million dollars, you must come to Baghdad. If you want us to deliver the person to Kuwait, add one million dollars. Or you can choose to have the target delivered to another specified location, with an additional two million."
Whether the client wanted to personally finish Saibu or not, this moment would tell.
Reasonably, someone willing to spend five million dollars to kill someone must harbor a deep-seated hatred, and an extra two million wouldn’t be much for a wealthy person capable of paying five million. So, it ought to work out.
"Wait, I need to ask."
Luca put down his phone, turned to Gao Yi with a grin, "Shouldn’t be a problem. Five million has become seven million. And besides, we all can take a cut from Saibu’s bounty. The Secret Action Bureau is sure to give you a decent share, albeit not too much due to the number of people involved, but you still have a windfall of seven hundred thousand dollars."
Gao Yi, surprised, said, "Oh, there’s a part for me?"
"Of course, there must be. I’ve already deposited the money into your account. So, your money is bagged."
After finishing, Luca turned to Lin Xianghua, "This income isn’t part of the mission, so you won’t get the ten percent cut, but you did contribute, so you have three hundred thousand."
Lin Xianghua was momentarily stunned, "I get that much?"
Luca laughed heartily, "Blockhead, Grins refunded the money he charged you. With all he’s earned this time, it’d be embarrassing for him to keep your money."
Lin Xianghua was overjoyed. Although he hadn’t earned anything, getting his spent money refunded was more than he could have hoped for.
"Great, Grins is a good guy!"
Gao Yi deeply agreed, "Indeed, he is broad-minded, someone we can deal with in the long term."
Everyone had a slice of the pie. This mission was impeccably executed, truly splendid.
Soon, the Dark Web sent another message.
"Can you deliver the person to Dammam? If so, we’re willing to pay seven million dollars."
Luca was taken aback for a moment and turned to Gao Yi, "Where’s Dammam?"
"I don’t know."
Not every city was immediately recognizable. Gao Yi took out his phone, looked it up on the internet, and said, "Saudi Arabia, a port city close to Bahrain, it’s big."
"Oh, see if Grins has an Air Force Base there."
Gao Yi placed a call to Grins and as soon as the line connected, he immediately said, "Uh, is there a US Air Force Base in Dammam, Saudi?"
"There’s none in Dammam, but nearby there’s Azizi Air Base."
Gao Yi slightly embarrassed, said, "We need to transport Saibu to Dammam. Is that something you can arrange?"
Taking a dazed and confused living person on a commercial flight was clearly inappropriate; hitching a ride on a military jet was the only option. If that wasn’t available, the plan would be unfeasible.
"Can do. When do you want to fly? I’ll arrange a plane immediately."
Grins’s attitude was becoming increasingly grand. Previously, even just tagging along on a plane required effort. Now, his official appointment wasn’t yet confirmed, but he already wielded the power.
"Today. The sooner, the better."
"Alright, pack your bags and get ready. Whenever you reach the Air Force Base, you can fly."
This wasn’t just tagging along anymore but arranging a specific aircraft. Getting fleece from the US Air Force felt undeniably comfortable.
He told Luca, "We can fly at any time."
Luca, in utter comfort, said, "That’s perfect."
Then Grins continued over the phone, "Peter’s documents are ready. I’ll send Peter with you. That way, once you’re in Saudi, he can also receive assistance from the local military forces, making your task easier."
Gao Yi felt there was nothing left for him to say.
Originally, he was somewhat anxious about face-to-face negotiations with the client, since backstabbing was not unheard of, especially on the client’s own turf.
But with Peter accompanying them and the support of the local forces, Gao Yi truly doubted the client would dare to pull any tricks.
In one word, stable.
No need for further discussion, Gao Yi unhesitatingly said, "Then arrange a car to take us to the Air Force Base. We’re ready to depart."
