True Solution of the Sword Dao -
Chapter 436 - 401: Seeing 2 Again
Chapter 436: Chapter 401: Seeing 2 Again
Two hours later.
Capital City International Airport
A group of giggling girls each carrying shoulder bags and backpacks walked out of the airport.
Xu Ke put down her phone.
"I mean, can’t you guys keep it down?" She looked helplessly at her companions.
"Keep it down? We’re very quiet, aren’t we?" One of the girls laughed, "Xiao Ke, are you planning to stay in Capital City for a few days before heading to the seaside?"
"At most two days," Xu Ke said helplessly, "Our school is also starting soon."
This group of people was precisely her clique of best friends from Ping City. Within them was He Wenwen, and the one who had just spoken was Vivi; next to her was Xiaoping, and Xu Jie came along as well.
These people were most of the members of their circle.
Xu Ke suddenly remembered the last time she had taken Lin Fei to dine with this group, feeling a strange sensation in her heart. She couldn’t quite put her finger on what it was.
Because of Lin Fei, she almost had a falling out with this group of best friends last time. However, they eventually made up over time. On the other hand, she gradually lost touch with Lin Fei.
Xu Ke knew that at that time, she actually just had a vague liking for Lin Fei, which was far from love. As she matured, she realized her true feelings were not that strong. It was just a moment of passion.
"Xiao Jie, what university are you planning to apply to this time?" Xu Ke asked the girl to her right.
"I don’t know, but I’m serious this time. I’m already at this age; it’s time to settle down. If I keep fooling around, my dad will go mad," the girl with a calm expression and delicate features, dressed in a black figure-hugging dress, conveyed a sense of rational pristine beauty.
"Xu Jie, you’ve taken the university entrance exam so many times, isn’t there one that satisfies you?" Vivi asked curiously from among the girls.
"It all sounds impressive to hear, but once you get in, it turns out face-to-face is worse than hearsay. The gap is huge. They don’t have what I really want to learn," Xu Jie spoke calmly.
"Why don’t you come to Seashore Polytechnic with me? It’s decent and an old-established key university. With your intelligence, Xiao Jie, wouldn’t it be easy for you to get in?" Xu Ke said with a smile.
Xu Jie chuckled.
"We’ll see when the time comes."
The group blended into the crowd and emerged from one of the airport’s exits, standing outside waiting for their ride.
Vivi, the tallest among them, stood in the plaza outside the airport, frequently glancing at her watch.
"When is this guy going to get here!" She said impatiently, continuously looking towards the roadway.
"By the way, Xiao Ke, are you really not coming with us?" Xiaoping asked from the side. "Isn’t it more fun if we all hang out together?"
Xu Ke shook her head, "I’m like Xiao Jie. I want some peace and quiet on my own. You guys have fun." A hint of fatigue crossed her face.
Xiaoping and Vivi didn’t say anything more.
He Wenwen, who had been quietly following along, finally spoke up.
"Well then, you go have a good time by yourself, have a good rest and relax. We’ll be heading out first."
Xu Ke nodded, "Alright. Have fun."
Just then Vivi answered a phone call.
"They’re here, they’re here!" She pointed towards a black Lexus slowly approaching the driveway. "So late!"
Vivi, Xiaoping, He Wenwen, and Xu Jie walked over together.
Xu Jie even turned back to ask,
"Xiao Ke, are you really not coming back with us?"
Xu Ke shook her head.
"I have a classmate coming to pick me up; don’t worry about me. Go on."
"Alright, then be careful on your own," Xu Jie nodded. The four girls got into the car together.
Xu Ke watched as the young man in the driver’s seat of the Lexus said something while laughing, then looked in her direction. It seemed as if he was asking something.
A moment later, the car slowly traced the driveway and headed off in the direction of departure, quickly disappearing from Xu Ke’s view.
She stood alone at the airport exit, stomping her feet, seemingly feeling a bit chilly. The T-shirt and jeans she was wearing were obviously too thin.
Looking around, she saw person after person leaving and getting into cars, some into taxis, others into private cars. Just like her, only a few were standing at the door waiting.
"Why isn’t this guy here yet?" Xu Ke took out her phone and checked it, a message clearly displayed four words.
’Arriving soon.’
****************
Inside the Lexus
"I’m saying Xu Ke is acting more and more pretentious now," Vivi said with displeasure, "as if we all have to cater to her mood."
"She’s always been like this," Xiaoping laughed, "In the past, because her family background was good, we all catered to her feelings. Now that her family isn’t doing well, she still acts like a spoiled rich girl, which really is quite uncomfortable."
"Enough, all of you, just say less. We can just see less of her from now on. That girl is just pampered," Xu Jie frowned and said.
He Wenwen, sitting in the back seat, frowned.
"I think Xu Ke is not bad. We’ve all played together since we were kids, there’s no need to become estranged so suddenly, right?" Since encountering several incidents, she had also become much more mature.
"But she never really considered us her sisters!" Xiaoping frowned.
The atmosphere in the car suddenly became somewhat heavy.
"Let’s all say less," Xu Jie said indifferently.
The boy driving the car was quite interested as he glanced at the rearview mirror.
"All of you are Vivi’s friends, new to Capital City, where do you want to go and have some fun? My treat!"
"We’ve been here quite a few times now, nothing much exciting left. You decide," Vivi chuckled, sitting in the passenger seat and leaning her body next to the young man, giving off a coquettish and dependent vibe.
The car became increasingly lively. Vivi’s boyfriend was teasing and chatting with the other girls on and off.
However, He Wenwen seemed somewhat inexplicably uncomfortable.
************************
Xu Ke stood at the airport exit and waited another two minutes before he saw Lin Fei walk briskly over from the roadway.
"Long time no see," Xu Ke stepped forward to greet him.
Watching Lin Fei walk briskly up to him, at least a head taller than himself.
The two of them stood face to face, and Xu Ke had to look up at him directly.
From a distance, it didn’t seem obvious, but as Lin Fei approached, Xu Ke was slightly shocked and gaped at him, staring without blinking an eye.
The sight of the man in front of him, with skin even better than hers and a beautiful face, was a severe blow to her feminine pride.
There was a sharpness mingled with his attractiveness, and his every move seemed to radiate absolute confidence.
Xu Ke was stunned for a moment.
"Pretty good!!" She circled around Lin Fei with her hands behind her back. "With this look, who else would dare to have you in the future!!"
Lin Fei could only give a wry smile. He had already shortened his hair using Potential Energy and tried his best to soften and normalize his facial features, to look more like Lin You. However, Xu Ke’s reaction still felt a bit exaggerated.
"Alright, let’s get going. If we’re any later, it’s going to get dark. Did you wait long?" Lin Fei turned and walked towards the roadway outside.
Xu Ke followed him closely. "Not really, I didn’t wait too long."
As she watched Lin Fei walking ahead, she asked, "So, how do you plan to entertain me?"
"How long can you stay in Capital City?"
"A couple of days. After that, I’m heading to Linhai University of Technology."
"How about I show you around our school? Honestly, I’ve only been here for one semester, so don’t expect me to know any fun places," Lin Fei laughed.
"Whatever you think best," Xu Ke laughed as well.
"I’ve noticed you’ve changed quite a bit now. What’s the deal? Planning to become a lady?" Lin Fei didn’t know why, but he felt that talking with Xu Ke was very easy, just like good friends.
"Not really. You change after experiencing more," Xu Ke sighed.
"Talking about having experiences? You’re too young to be sighing already. Take it easy."
"Yeah."
Xu Ke looked at his back and suddenly felt a weird sensation. There was no barrier between the two of them despite not having seen each other for such a long time, yet it all seemed so natural. It was indeed a strange feeling...
The two reached the outdoor parking lot by the roadway.
"You drove here?" Xu Ke asked, puzzled.
Lin Fei chuckled. "A friend’s. I borrowed it just to pick you up."
Xu Ke watched him walk to the very end of a row of cars.
Then quickly, a silver car that looked very much like a top-level Aston Martin sports car, steadily drove out.
Beep beep.
The car stopped beside Xu Ke, honking twice.
With a curious and astonished face, Xu Ke pulled open the passenger door. She settled herself in the seat firmly and closed the door.
"What does your friend do? So wealthy? This car must be worth four to five hundred million..." Her face was filled with curiosity and amazement, obviously slightly shocked.
"Just a rich second-generation with some family money," Lin Fei said nonchalantly, leaning on the steering wheel. He wondered what Dong Yaofei would think if he heard this.
"Alright, buckle up."
He sat up straight and slammed the accelerator.
The sports car virtually instantly accelerated and shot out of the parking lot, fully demonstrating its impressive acceleration capability.
The silver body traced a silver arc on the roadway, speeding up faster and faster, overtaking seven or eight cars that had just driven into the lane.
"Shit!!" An angry curse burst out from a car that had been overtaken.
This white Maserati sports car sped up quickly trying to chase, but after a short pursuit, it could only watch the silver sports car swiftly leave it behind without a trace.
Xu Ke was pressed back against the seat, watching the scenery of the road ahead expand rapidly, her entire body tensely rigid. She glanced at Lin Fei with some difficulty and saw him relaxedly steering with one hand while the other was actually texting on a phone.
That glance nearly scared the soul out of her.
"I mean... could you please focus a bit..." She was almost crying. "I’m still young... I don’t want to die~~~"
"Oh, I’m almost done," Lin Fei nodded.
Xu Ke looked at the speedometer, terrified—it was hitting at least 300 mph...
The cars on the side seemed motionless as they were overtaken one by one by the silver sports car.
"My God... if I let you drive again, I’m a pig!" she wailed. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to go to Qidian (qidian.com) to cast your recommendation votes and Monthly Tickets, your support is my greatest motivation.)
