Chapter 428: Chapter 394: Chips 1_2

The space around became hollow, and the walls began to change gradually; the originally dark space quickly brightened up. The dazzling brightness came swiftly and vanished just as quickly.

Soon, Lin Fei’s surroundings returned to normal.

But the surroundings had completely changed location.

First visible was the ground beneath his feet, as smooth as white jade, so smooth it faintly reflected Lin Fei’s own face and figure. Yet, it bore marks that were not very clear and some dirty patches here and there.

Behind him were columns of white jade, some intact, some damaged. At the edges of the columns, even green moss had grown, and tiny insects occasionally crawled over them.

A few curvy green vines extended along the columns, clearly having grown for a long time.

Lin Fei looked up and around.

This place was directly a temple ruin; apart from a large hall without a roof, only the ground and some columns remained.

Five golden figures stood on the left side inside the great hall, and opposite them, seven figures were hidden within black mist.

In the middle of the two groups was a rectangular pool with clear water that had a faint blue hue. The pool perfectly divided the two groups.

Lin Fei was in the foremost position. No one was to his left, just the highest seat in the hall, but now only a bare white wall remained. Even the seat was merely half intact.

Lin Fei glanced to his right. It was the woman with a serpent staff. Next to her were Roger, the Night King, and, finally, Griffin. Several people stood in a row facing directly the seven dark shadows.

In front of the group, a thin golden film wall flowed quietly with golden streams of power. It was obviously a barrier set up beforehand.

Likewise, Lin Fei believed when the others looked their way, they could see only five golden shadows.

"My lords, since everyone has arrived, can we begin?" Griffin took the initiative to speak.

A black shadow in the middle of the opposite group took a step forward.

"Of course, regarding Elisa’s Gate, we have been waiting for this moment for a long time. What are your conditions? Just state them." Clearly, he was the representative of the group.

On the golden side, Griffin took the lead.

"First term, a Class B joint action obligation." Griffin stated directly.

"Impossible!" The opposition immediately refused. "We, the Dark Alliance, although not short of Class B powerhouses, cannot agree to such an obligation."

A joint action obligation meant that every Class B powerhouse in the organization had a duty to provide assistance in actions to a certain extent free of charge, otherwise, they would be violating organizational rules. If agreed, this would essentially mean that all overt Class B powerhouses in their organization would become a resource that the Golden could mobilize at any time.

This was clearly Griffin opening his mouth wide.

"We have provided the rights to use Elisa’s Gate, which allows any member of our two organizations to use it for free. Presumably, when entering and exiting the Inner and Outer Worlds, even other major organizations would charge a high fee, right?" Griffin spoke calmly.

"The stronger the powerhouse, the more they affect teleportation through Elisa’s Gate, so the higher the charge. And using items like Random Teleportation Stones can easily be decrypted to disrupt teleportation patterns, leading to ambushes. There’s no privacy in teleportation. My asking price is actually not high. Our organization is newly established and urgently needs a replenishment of mid-level power; this is beneficial for you as well, isn’t it?"

"Class B powerhouses have a high degree of autonomy, we rarely control them strictly. As elites, this is their right, so we cannot agree to this term!" The opposition refused again.

Griffin slightly frowned but did not care, continuing: "Since that is the case, let us change the term..."

All proposals from the council members had already been provided to him, so he represented everyone’s will alone.

Presumably, the same was true on the other side. A group of black mist and a group of golden mist stood opposite each other, starting to negotiate one term after another for their rightful benefits. For Class A powerhouses, this little time was nothing in their long lives; they had ample energy to perfectly resolve this matter.

Washington

The lights of America’s capital shone brightly at night, illuminating the bustling streets where almost no darkness could be seen. Everywhere was lit.

Tall buildings, some dozens or even hundreds of stories high, stood along the sides of the streets, almost covering most of the sky. A constant flux of vehicles streamed along the middle of the roads.

A strange woman in a gray coat and brown sunglasses was walking slowly along the side of the street, the one you’d say wears sunglasses at night is definitely odd.

This person was Yuhua, who had left Arlington. After hurriedly treating her wounds, she had followed Lin You and his group to Washington City. Unfortunately, midway she had been obstructed again by two four-armed strange men. After awkwardly avoiding them, she hurried on, but by then, she had already lost track of Lin You and the others.

The glasses she wore were navigation glasses specially made by the Golden organization, equipped with GPS functionality. No matter where she went, she would not lose her way.

But after walking this long, Yuhua felt that she might have completely lost track of Lin You and the others.
