Chapter 375: Chapter 351 Amendment 2

Lu Jun nodded and turned to leave, accompanied by a security guard.

Commander Chen seemed to be speaking to himself.

"However, it seems there’s a problem with Commissioner Xu..."

Lu Jun nodded slightly and strode out of the office.

Commander Chen stood in front of his desk with a smile on his face.

Ping City No. 1 Middle School

Lin You sat on the couch with her legs hugged to her chest.

"Hey, Feil."

"What’s up?" The black cat sat squat beside her, the two of them sitting side by side, one large and one small.

"Tell me, if my brother is just an ordinary martial artist, why does he have such formidable subordinates?" Lin You asked in confusion.

Feil also remembered the woman in white who had just sliced through several handguns in an instant.

"I’m not very familiar with martial artists either, but I’ve heard that some powerful martial artists, even though they can’t resist firearms, can still move quicker than the average person can pull the trigger at close range."

"Really? But even I can only defend against a few handguns," Lin You said, puzzled.

"It’s different," Feil hesitated, "you can directly block them, but martial artists can’t, they just move a bit faster."

"Is that so?" Lin You looked perplexed.

"It should be..." Feil was not very certain either.

"How about we give Merrill a call? And Babanoya too, they should know something about this."

"Alright."

Lin You took out her pink little cell phone and dialed Merrill’s number.

A moment later, Merrill picked up on the other end.

"What is it? I’m busy right now."

"It’s like this." Lin You hurriedly asked her previous questions about martial artists.

"Martial artists? Please, even an ordinary person with quick movements can dodge bullets from handguns. Do me a favor and don’t ask such silly questions, okay? Otherwise, why would the world need so many weapons? If everyone had handguns, wouldn’t they all be invincible? Anyway, no one but psychics can stand against them," Merrill said impatiently and hung up.

Lin You and Feil looked at each other.

Ping City Archives Bureau

In the clean corridor, some staff members bustled to and fro.

A young man with a somewhat stern face walked towards the door of an office, reaching out to open it.

"Section Chief Ouyang. Can we talk?" A young female voice came from behind him.

The man turned around. Standing behind him was a pretty, good-looking woman dressed like an office worker, looking very neat and fresh.

"Who are you? Do you need something?" he asked, frowning. He didn’t remember knowing such a person, let alone a pretty girl.

"There’s something I’d like to ask for your assistance with," the woman said with a smile.

"Our assistance?" The man became slightly wary.

"Won’t you invite me in to talk?" The woman smiled, looking at him.

The man hesitated. "Alright, come in first to talk."

The office door opened, and a young girl inside was cleaning. Seeing the two come in, she sweetly greeted, "Section Chief Ouyang, you’re here."

"You are working hard, Xiao Fang," the man said kindly.

"I’ll get out of your way then, you guys talk." Xiao Fang smiled, set aside the broom in the corner, moved swiftly out the door, and closed it gently behind her.

The office became quiet immediately, with only the two of them inside.

"Please have a seat," Section Chief Ouyang said as he sat down in his usual spot, gesturing to the woman to make herself comfortable.

The woman sat down unceremoniously in the leather chair opposite him.

The two sat facing each other.

"Section Chief Ouyang Tao, my name is An Ying, and I’ve come on behalf of President Lu of Ping City," the woman introduced herself directly.

"An Ying?" Ouyang Tao’s expression tightened slightly, "It’s you all. If I remember correctly, we are directly under the Provincial Archives Bureau, not under your jurisdiction, right?"

"That is true," An Ying smiled, "but there are always exceptions. As a local institution, if we can cooperate with you, we can achieve better objectives, can’t we?"

"That’s unlikely. Unless you have orders from above," Ouyang Tao said with an unchanged expression, outright rejecting the offer.

"Section Chief Ouyang, wouldn’t you like to make some extra cash?" An Ying calmly extended two fingers, "Two hundred thousand for one time. How about it?"

Ouyang Tao’s hand on the desk trembled slightly, but he didn’t respond.

"Section Chief Ouyang, you know that the higher-ups are in turmoil right now, with no one willing to pay attention to the movements below. As long as things appear calm on the surface, no one will notice what’s happening behind the scenes. By doing this, you can secure benefits for yourself and your subordinates while maintaining social stability and peace. Even if the authorities find out, they would reward rather than reprimand you. Isn’t this a win-win situation?"

"Even if you’re selflessly dedicated to the nation’s stability, it’s perfectly reasonable for you and your subordinates to make a move," An Ying said with a beaming smile.

Ouyang Tao’s facial muscles twitched.

"Since you’ve put it that way, what reason would I have to refuse? However, I have a concern— one of my deputies might..."

An Ying nodded, "No problem, we will convince him."

"Then, it’s a pleasure doing business with you."

"The pleasure is mine."

Both smiled, stood up, and shook hands.

Capital City Road, Ningyuan Bridge

A silver car drove slowly down the street.

"Beep..."

Inside the car, a young man was holding a cell phone in one hand and gripping the steering wheel with the other, his brow furrowed.

"Why won’t they answer?" he muttered to himself.

The phone rang for a long time, finally resulting in an automated message indicating that no one answered the call.

The man swore under his breath and dialed another series of numbers.

Again, there was the sound of a busy tone.

"Sorry, the user you have dialed has powered off their phone, please try again later...."

Better to just say it was unreachable right off the bat.

The man’s expression changed slightly, his hand gripping the steering wheel a little tighter.

Then he dialed another number from his phone.

This time, it connected quickly.

"Hello? Little Town? What’s up, is something wrong?" A deep male voice came from the phone.

"Uncle Lin, I can’t get through to my brother and sister’s phones, and just now, they called me and said someone was going to make a move on them," the man said anxiously.

"Oh?" The voice on the other end was silent for a moment. "What exactly happened?"

"I’m rushing over there now, almost there," the man said, fixing his eyes on the buildings growing closer ahead.

The building of the Minchen Restaurant came into view, slowly nearing.

The entire Minchen building had a sign for closed renovations, and looking inside through the glass windows, not a soul could be seen, the place was completely empty.

"They clearly told me it was the Minchen Restaurant!" The man grew suspicious. "But the Minchen Restaurant is obviously closed today."

"Are you sure?" asked the voice on the phone.

"Yeah, there are closed signs all around outside."

The silver sedan slowly stopped at the entrance of the Minchen Restaurant.

The man looked out from the car toward the restaurant.

In the corner of the street, two men in police uniforms exchanged glances.

"The license plate matches. It’s him," one of them whispered.

The other nodded.

The two approached the silver sedan, one in front and one behind.

The man in the car also noticed the two approaching, his brow furrowed.

"Uncle, I’ll call you back in a bit, someone’s coming. I’ll find out what’s happening."

"Alright, call me directly after you figure it out."

"Okay."

Knock, knock, knock.

One of the police officers knocked gently on the car window.

Ten minutes later...

They walked away calmly.

The man inside the car raised his head wearily from the steering wheel.

"What... what just happened to me??" He looked around, confused. "Big brother and sister-in-law, that’s right!! They... they... seem to have been in a car accident... Oh my God!! A car accident!!" His face turned ashen. "Lin Du River Funeral Home."

The silver sedan quickly drove off.

A smile appeared on the faces of both policemen.

Swordsmanship Club

Lin Fei was sitting cross-legged in the middle of the Sword Room, her eyes half-closed.

Xu Ruoruo sat facing her.

"Have those people from the Archives Bureau been dealt with?"

"Yes, An Ying personally took care of it."

"Then, let’s speed up the action," Lin Fei said indifferently.

"They have already started to take action but... Are we really going to do it to your sister...." Xu Ruoruo hesitated.

"It doesn’t matter, it’s just a form of hypnosis," Lin Fei said casually. "It’s easy to lift, merely a temporary disruption, and wasn’t it they who made the move last time?"

"Besides, about Wang Kaishan’s backer, Wang Lin, I’ve already sent someone," Xu Ruoruo whispered.

"Mm, eliminate the hidden danger thoroughly," Lin Fei nodded. "Regarding the killing of Wang Kaishan’s family, since Little You can’t accept it, let them move their family to another place, and then later on, stage a car accident."

"I will notify them right now," said Xu Ruoruo, rising and quickly exiting the Sword Room.

Lin Fei sat quietly in the middle of the Sword Room, taking out her phone.

"Are you ready?"

"Everything’s ready."

Ping City First Middle School

Lin You held his phone, puzzled, "Come out? What for?"

"Just come out for a bit," Lin Fei’s voice came softly through the phone.

Without her knowledge, a faint, mysterious aura slowly spread through the house.

Outside the home, Lin Fei stood calmly in front of the security door, phone in hand; behind him stood two men in black, wearing hats and sunglasses. Lin Fei didn’t make a sound.

But on the phone, Lin You kept asking questions, as if he were talking to himself or to a voice that couldn’t be heard at all.

Click!

The door was opened.

Lin Fei walked slowly inside.

Lin You and the kitten lay slumped on the sofa, sound asleep.

And the weird thing was, Lin You was still talking non-stop on the phone in Lin Fei’s hand.

"Go ahead," Lin Fei said indifferently.

The two behind him shivered slightly and nodded.

The two moved forward simultaneously, one pressed a hand on Lin You’s forehead and the other on the cat’s forehead. A faint, strange energy aura began to spread slowly.

Lin Fei watched Lin You silently, a tender look flickering in his eyes. "Little You... I will always protect you..." (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for it with a recommendation or monthly ticket at qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
