True Solution of the Sword Dao -
Chapter 364 - 341 Melee II
Chapter 364: Chapter 341 Melee II
Lin Fei watched silently as the figure in golden clothes walked to the edge of the massive black light membrane, placed his palm on its surface, and uttered a few words. In an instant, the figure vanished.
"Forfeiting?" he muttered softly.
He swung the Black Demon Sword in his hand casually.
Countless streams of black energy suddenly fanned out towards the armored warriors in black within tens of meters around him.
Shouts of alarm and screams of agony echoed continuously. A large number of the warriors in black were pierced by the black ghostly faces, collapsing to the ground without any power to resist, while a few with quicker reactions managed to raise protective barriers in time to narrowly avoid disaster. Yet they struggled to maintain their defense among the relentless black energy surrounding them.
Lin Fei slowly advanced, surrounded by countless black energy ghost faces cackling within a hundred meters around him, as if an army of ghosts were beside him.
"Feilin, Crichton qualify." The synthesized mechanical voice rang out once again.
Two beams of white light shone down simultaneously, one upon Lin Fei and the other upon another man some distance away.
Lin Fei felt a gentle lifting force softly tugging at him, a sense of weightlessness came over him, and the scenery around him quickly receded. Suddenly, his body ascended swiftly into the air. The countless black smokes were rapidly retracted back into the Black Demon Sword.
These black smoke ghost faces were the energy he had previously accumulated in the Black Demon Sword. During the days of his rookie tasks, he hadn’t killed many in Red Armor, but there were quite a few in black. Especially in the Inner World where there were plenty with D-level strength, accumulating energy was much faster compared to the Outer World.
However, as powerful as these black smokes seemed, their actual attack power was not as formidable as imagined. They were decent for area attacks, but quite lacking for focused attacks. Each ghost face’s counter-method was extremely simple. And they possessed very low attack power.
Even a junior D-level, as long as they promptly raised a protective potential energy barrier, could briefly remain unharmed. If it was a C-level powerhouse, the ghost faces from the Black Demon Sword probably would be utterly useless, easily shattered by the opponent.
This was also because the Black Demon Sword had yet accumulated too little strength.
Lin Fei rose into the air, lifted his eyes to look at a similar beam of light in the distance. There stood a young man adorned with silver trinkets all over his body, his face half-covered by a clown mask, and he looked like a peddler selling small trinkets with all the little pockets on him. His feet were bare, each ankle adorned with a golden bracelet.
"That person is called Crichton?" Lin Fei could also sense the hidden strength in this man, which seemed to be of a C-level. But there was something else concealed about him.
The other person paid him no attention. His figure disappeared in the beam of light.
Lin Fei withdrew his gaze and vanished in the light as well.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in another vast and empty arena, a duplicate of the one before. The only difference was that the black-armored figures were newcomers just transported by the beam of light.
The white stone floor below was so polished it could be used as a mirror, and a serene, icy smell permeated the air around him.
Above was a grey protective barrier.
Lin Fei stood in the middle of the arena, with a bright white beam of light next to him. He slowly stepped out of the light and looked back.
He saw a gigantic beam connecting to the protective barrier standing silently in the center of the arena. The soft white light spread throughout every corner of the arena.
One after another, figures continuously emerged from the beam of light.
Some exuded the aura that Lin Fei had previously sensed, while others were entirely new to him.
"Welcome to the Goddess Statue District No. 7. This is the seventh sub-tournament area," a middle-aged man with fair skin appeared suddenly in front of Lin Fei.
Lin Fei started, his aura quickly rose.
"Don’t be nervous, don’t be nervous! I just think that it might be better for us free agents to temporarily form an alliance," said the middle-aged man, clad in a white robe with silver trim, ornate bird-like silver patterns on his chest and shoulders, his hands completely hidden within the long sleeves, golden curls almost covering his eyes.
"Alliance?" Lin Fei gradually reined in his aura.
He glanced around, one after another, people continuously emerged from the massive pillars of light. Without ceasing, the numbers grew, and the powerful auras became denser and more intense.
"Of course, forming an alliance," the man said with a smile. "Don’t you think the contestants this year are outrageously strong?"
"Indeed," Lin Fei nodded. "Compared to the last, this time is indeed much stronger."
"We joined this competition with essentially the same goal. However, before that, we must make it to the very last match. By the way, you can call me Silver Sparrow," the blonde man said cheerfully.
"I’m Feilin," Lin Fei said indifferently. "What’s your plan for the alliance?"
"I’m going around to identify some solitary powerhouses and pull them into our ranks. At critical times, we can unite everyone’s strength, so we’re not defeated one by one by other power groups," Silver Sparrow said with a smile.
"Indeed, that’s a good strategy," Lin Fei nodded slightly. "But before that, I need to verify whether you have the strength to ally with me."
"And how would you like to confirm that?" Silver Sparrow continued to smile.
"Quite simple," Lin Fei said lightly.
He pointed to a purple figure standing in the distance of the arena, "Defeat her, and you will have proven yourself."
The smile on Silver Sparrow’s face froze for a moment.
"She is Ziling, one of the strongest here in this seventh arena. And she has a Successor behind her," Lin Fei said with a slight chuckle.
"So what? Isn’t our purpose exactly to become Successors?"
Silver Sparrow was speechless. "Indeed, if we can gain the favor of that individual, we can naturally rank among the strongest Successors. But what if we fail? Here are all the winners from every seventh and below area. Almost every one of them is strong enough to take on a hundred, a completely different concept from the preliminaries."
The arena was becoming increasingly crowded. The strong auras grew more intense.
The two stood beside the pillar of light, within view were shadowy figures with concealed strength, at least C-grade or above.
"If you can’t manage that, an alliance is utterly meaningless," Lin Fei said casually as he turned and walked away.
Silver Sparrow stood behind him, his expression darkening as he let out a cold huff, and his figure disappeared in an instant.
Lin Fei had already realized that this Silver Sparrow was merely a virtual projection; the real person was hidden somewhere, with no sincerity in cooperating.
At this point, he also had a fairly good understanding of the strong contenders in the Main City of the Pantheon.
He had thought too simply of the Temple of the Gods before.
Apart from the Successors, those gathered here were almost all C-grade or higher powerhouses with concealed strength, and perhaps most of them were not as young as they appeared, with some being over thirty years old.
"If that’s the case, then I can also release all my strength without any reservations," Lin Fei silently surveyed the directions with several powerful auras.
As a Successor, enter the higher echelons of the Temple of the Gods, then he could obtain more information. And regarding the Holy Spirit’s Blood...
A shadow crossed Lin Fei’s eyes; he never imagined that the Holy Spirit’s Blood would be involved to such a degree.
"Once I reach the higher levels, I should be able to access more documents," he murmured softly. "It might also make those people think twice."
"The second match begins, knock down over fifty people to automatically qualify for the final. Time limit, twenty minutes," the mechanical synthesized voice sounded once more.
Lin Fei instantly felt the atmosphere around him change, as a heavy and oppressive air slowly began to spread.
Countless powerful auras rubbed against each other. The air seemed to solidify.
A dangerous glint appeared in everyone’s eyes.
"Why the fuck is everyone hesitating? I’ll go first!"
A rough voice came from not far away.
Lin Fei’s gaze immediately shifted in that direction.
A burly man with two black steel spikes on his shoulders looked impatient. His hands were rapidly glowing with a thick, earthy yellow halo.
"Rend the Sky!"
He roared fiercely, leaped high into the air, and smashed down hard on the ground.
Bang!!
The numerous Red Armors around him, agile in their movements, swiftly evaded. In almost an instant, a large area around him was cleared.
Roar!!
A giant yellow tiger faintly emerged behind the burly man, furiously howling skyward,
Hisss! Hiss hiss hiss...
Razor-sharp stone pillars radiated outwardly from the burly man at the center, instantly sprouting and encompassing everyone within hundreds of meters in the attack range. Countless earthy yellow stone pillars quickly formed a vast Stone Forest.
A stone pillar spike shot up from beneath Lin Fei’s feet in an instant.
Countless black mists rapidly converged around Lin Fei, immediately corroding and shattering the stone pillar into numerous fragments scattered around. It only managed to rise to Lin Fei’s knees before completely breaking apart.
Surrounding him were countless stone pillars, with vast expanses of earthy yellow everywhere.
Indistinctly, a faint chanting sound arose from somewhere, mixed with groans of pain and the sounds of fierce fighting.
A Red Armor with a masked face stealthily approached Lin Fei from behind. He held a blue-violet nail in his hand, which was slowly emitting a fluorescent glow.
Hisss!
The long nail instantly targeted Lin Fei’s back. But in the blink of an eye, Lin Fei’s figure dissipated.
The masked Red Armor’s pupils constricted as a blue halo burst forth from his body, and three purple-colored round shields automatically appeared behind him, arranged in a triangular formation.
Lin Fei’s figure flashed directly behind him, executing a horizontal slash, sending a silver streak flying out.
With a snap, the shields and the man were simultaneously cut in half.
The upper half of the Red Armor fell at Lin Fei’s feet, with the black cloth covering the face scattering, revealing a beautiful visage. It was a very pretty young girl.
"Yue Lin!!!" A shrill scream came from not far away.
A man with blood-red eyes burst out from the Stone Forest, forcefully shooting several Flying Darts at Lin Fei as a swarm of black bats followed him.
"Foolish."
Lin Fei casually swung his sword, and a series of silver rings suddenly flew out.
All at once, a cacophony of squelching sounds filled the air as the black bats were sliced by the numerous silver rings into chunks of flesh that plummeted down.
The man who had charged out tried to dodge but was too late; a silver ring swiftly cut through his neck. The headless body stumbled forward for a few steps before finally collapsing to the ground.
"Heh heh, interesting," a sinister voice came from behind Lin Fei.
A black figure flashed, swinging down a silver curved blade from overhead.
Lin Fei bent down and drew his sword.
Clang!!!
The blade and sword clashed in an instant, sending out a shockwave that rippled out like a solid wave.
The black figure cackled and somersaulted away into the air.
Lin Fei’s expression was indifferent as his figure disappeared.
Behind the black figure, a silhouette slowly emerged.
Hisss!!
Fresh blood splattered as the black figure was cleaved in half from head to toe.
Lin Fei slowly sheathed his sword.
Suddenly, he looked up into the distance.
A tremendous aura rose straight into the sky, coiling into a giant white bird.
"A Peak B-rank?"
A sense of excitement surged suddenly in Lin Fei’s heart.
The Black Demon Sword was instantly pushed to its limit. An equally massive aura transformed into a giant ghost face that soared into the sky. Unlike before, a golden pattern faintly emerged at the center of the black ghost face’s forehead.
The two auras confronted each other in the air, black and white swirling and grinding violently like gears. The grating hiss and the dissipating energy aura completely overwhelmed the Stone Forest below.
In the midst of the countless stone pillars, a large round clearing was emptied.
Whooosh!!
In the distant sky.
A white figure with wings on its back held a Longsword, swooping towards Lin Fei like a large bird. The Longsword slashed laterally, its gaze detached.
Lin Fei’s eyes emitted faint blue fluorescence as he lightly raised the Black Demon Sword.
A planetary shadow emerged behind him. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to come to Qidian (qidian.com) to cast your recommendation vote and Monthly Ticket. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
