Chapter 360: Chapter 337 Gently 2 (Please support with a Monthly Ticket if you remember, opening a single Chapter seems like a waste of everyone’s time.)
"It is predictable that all the major forces will appear in the battle for Elisa’s Gate, and besides us, there are five other families capable of competing and maintaining the imprint to enter," the Snake Lady said, stretching out her shriveled fingers to flick a black light, which flew to the table between the three and burst open, transforming into five different symbols.
Lin Fei recognized one of them as the Holy See’s Jesus Silver Cross symbol. Another was a copper, spiral-patterned triangular metal plate, the emblem of the Screw Tower, which he had seen on the Mage’s Eye before.
As for the rest, he was unclear.
The Snake Lady pointed to each symbol and introduced, "Here is the Holy See, Screw Tower, Temple of the Gods, Chaos Domain, heretics, and the Eastern Orthodox Cult’s symbols. That means, these five families will join us in competing for Elisa’s Gate. It is conceivable that they might not deploy A-class combatants; however, they will definitely possess holy artifacts or similar amplifying items, some of which are extremely powerful. Even we could be at a disadvantage."
"So, we also need similar amplifying treasures, right?" Lin Fei said softly.
"That is the purpose of this meeting," Griffin nodded. "Martha!"
"Yes, my lord."
A woman in a black tight suit slowly appeared beside Griffin, clapped her hands gently, and a complex patterned light ring abruptly exploded. The five large symbols on the conference table instantly transformed into a huge satellite map.
"According to the latest information we’ve received, relics of the Earth Dragon Den have appeared in Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America. Normally, an Earth Dragon Den would be accompanied by the emergence of a rare treasure. Two of these places have already been marked by the mercenary guild as lethal, indicating that those below B-class would not survive, which also implies that the treasures contained there could be very powerful, definitely among the high level holy artifacts," Martha explained.
"I have already sent people there, but unfortunately, all my people died inside, none returned," Griffin said gravely.
Lin Fei and the Snake Lady knew that if Griffin hadn’t suffered losses, he would have secured it himself and wouldn’t have informed them. He was clearly overwhelmed by severe losses and sought to share the risk.
"What losses were incurred?" Lin Fei asked.
"One B-class, a C-class standard combat squad of fifteen people," Griffin stated calmly, though a slight wince could not help but flash in his eyes.
Lin Fei and the Snake Lady couldn’t help but gasp sharply.
"Even a B-class has fallen," the Snake Lady murmured with a frown.
"So, what do you think?" Griffin asked. "If you also decide to give up, I’ll withdraw as well."
Lin Fei could imagine the scenario where he might lose either Yuan Yicheng or the golden-clad Ye Yuhua, each a B-class, capable of standing alone at the top level. No wonder Griffin was hesitant.
"Is there specific intelligence?"
"Yes, but I’ll only share it after you decide to send troops," Griffin said indifferently. "The only Earth Dragon Den left is currently unattended by other forces, probably because they too suffered concealed losses. This is also our opportunity."
"Where exactly is it?"
"East Pacific, Phosphate Island."
Lin Fei’s heart chilled. He instantly recalled the intelligence he had received just a few days ago about the green seeds.
"Alright, I agree to join. I will directly descend a clone projection there," Lin Fei said.
Griffin and the Snake Lady were slightly taken aback.
"Indeed, it is the young who have the audacity to fear not the downfall of their projections," the Snake Lady said in a eerie laugh. "We can’t afford it. Losing a projection requires years to replenish the strength. We no longer have the vigor of our youth."
"I have nothing to lose, so I fear nothing," Lin Fei smiled. "However, I need some time to prepare. I am dealing with something fairly important at the moment."
"How about within a week?" Griffin asked.
"Agreed."
"By the way, regarding the situation in the United States, the Nicholas Family has defected. You will handle the follow-up. I don’t want to get too involved with the Energy Scepter," Griffin said indifferently.
Lin Fei nodded.
"Although there are rampant rumors that activating the inheritance of the Energy Scepter is almost certainly fatal, I still want to try it."
"It’s your choice," Griffin’s figure instantly vanished. "Be careful, that thing is very dangerous," his words echoed continuously.
The woman in black respectfully bowed.
"My lords, I shall take my leave."
With a faint crackling sound, she too disappeared on the spot.
Lin Fei squinted his eyes slightly. "Lord Griffin seems to know quite a bit about the Energy Scepter."
The Snake Lady’s laughter became more sinister.
"Of course. Griffin was one of those who once attempted to inherit its power. He nearly ended up grievously wounded and half-dead. It would be strange if he didn’t know about it," she cackled.
Lin Fei was slightly startled. "Could you tell me more, Lady Snake?"
"This is well-known to many. Four hundred years ago, Titan, one of the peak powers of the Inner World, gathered all the Energy Scepters and ultimately embarked on the path to activate the Power of Inheritance. Unfortunately, he failed at the last moment, was severely injured and fled. Ever since then, he has gradually retreated behind the scenes. It was one of Titan’s biggest shames. Due to his injuries, he was chased and almost killed by former disdainful enemies. After recovering from his injuries, he slaughtered many of the Magic side and Temple of the Gods’ five great energy contractors and fusers in a rage. Only stopped when the magic faction and the Temple of the Gods intervened with some excuse about ’leaving samples for research’," she said gleefully.
"There’s such a history then," Lin Fei maintained his smile. "It seems I need to be cautious as well."
"You’re young, you have the right to be bold. Go ahead and try. Well, I’ll be leaving now," the Snake Lady chuckled weirdly as she gradually vanished.
Only Lin Fei remained, sitting thoughtfully alone.
"My lord, Lin You and the others have already been rescued," Ye Yuhua’s voice came to his mind.
"Send them back to Hua Nation, did you get the Holy Spirit’s Blood data?"
"It’s already in our hands, along with part of the blood sample extracted from Lin You and some detailed documents from the Nicholas Family that were not yet relocated or destroyed."
"Have the American military arrange a plane to bring Lin You and the others back, and send the data and blood directly to the Sword Canon Space, where my projection will examine it," Lin Fei ordered.
"Yes."
Lin Fei clasped his hands together.
"Holy Spirit’s Blood... what secrets does it hold..." he vanished instantly from the conference room.
****************
"Where am I?" Lin You slowly opened his eyes, his head feeling heavy and weak. Everything in front of him was blurry.
"You’re awake, Lin You?" Merrill’s voice sounded beside his ear.
"Sister Merrill..." Lin You shook his head, "Why did I suddenly fall asleep?"
"It wasn’t sleep, we were drugged into unconsciousness," Merrill said calmly.
"Drugged?" Lin You’s vision gradually began to clear.
Merrill was leaning back on the sofa opposite him, with Chris, pale-faced, holding Feil and clutching his head as if he also felt uncomfortable.
"What happened?"
Lin You found that he was still sitting at the dining table in Merrill’s rented house, but the table was spotlessly clean, with no trace of any food.
"It’s been two days," Merrill said with a frown, "We were drugged for two days, and we have no idea what happened during that time!"
"Where’s Sister Cheng Guang?" Lin You looked around and then noticed Cheng Guang lying unconscious on the floor of the hall. It seemed she had not woken up yet.
"Her physical condition isn’t as good as that of a psychic, it will probably take a while longer for her to wake up," Merrill frowned and added, "The problem now is to figure out who drugged us."
"What about the surveillance video?" Lin You asked.
"Useless. I’ve checked; all the records have been deleted, and they were repeatedly overwritten, which made recovery impossible."
"What about Babanoya? He’s just a bracelet form, he shouldn’t have been found, right?"
"Unfortunately," Babanoya’s voice emerged from Chris. "As I was connected to Chris, I also passed out."
"Damn it! My head is so dizzy," Lin You felt dizzy as he stood up but immediately appeared unsteady and had to sit down again.
"I’m thinking, if they drugged us, why are we even here, unharmed, after two days?" Merrill spoke heavily.
Lin You supported himself on the table and managed to stand up.
"This is bad, my parents must be really worried, I need to get home quickly."
"Go ahead quickly. We’ll check carefully, there must be some clues," Merrill said, rubbing her temples.
"Okay," Lin You hurriedly rushed out of the door.
******************
Bang!
The security door was violently pulled open and then closed.
Lin You stood at the entrance of the living room, panting. His eyes blankly stared into the living room.
Lin Fei was leisurely sipping hot tea alone, sitting on the sofa and watching TV.
"Lin You, you’re back," Lin Fei turned her head and greeted, "Did you have a good time? I went on a trip myself."
"You... you..." Lin You pointed at her, baffled. "I went on a trip?"
Lin Fei looked puzzled, "Didn’t you call me? You said you were going to stay at a friend’s house for a couple of days. What’s wrong? You look so pale, do you have a cold?"
"No... no!" Lin You hastily shook her head, "But... are you sure I... made a... call?" she asked, confused.
"You don’t remember?" Lin Fei asked, puzzled.
A vague memory flashed through Lin You’s mind. It seemed she really had made that phone call.
"It seems... I did call..."
"Is that so?" Lin Fei’s lips curved into a slight smile. "You must be exhausted from your trip, rest well."
"Yes, okay. I really am tired," Lin You’s mind seemed to clear up more.
"Lin You."
"What is it?"
"Come here," Lin Fei beckoned.
Lin You obediently walked over and stood in front of Lin Fei.
"What’s up?"
"Remember," Lin Fei said softly, reaching out to ruffle Lin You’s hair.
"No matter what happens, I will always protect you..."
Lin You stared at her blankly.
"What are you doing? Saying such cheesy stuff out of the blue. Isn’t it disgusting?" she suddenly reacted, her cheeks flushing as she turned away, avoiding Lin Fei’s hand.
Lin Fei laughed softly, watching her like a cherished child.
"I even brought you a gift this time."
"This is for you," Lin Fei stretched out her hand, a small blue gemstone resting quietly in her palm.
Lin You puzzled, "For me?"
She took the blue gemstone and carefully held it in her palm.
"It’s beautiful..."
"Is it? Take good care of it," Lin Fei smiled warmly, watching her. (To be continued. If you like this work, please vote for it at qidian.com with your recommendation and monthly ticket. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
