True Solution of the Sword Dao
Chapter 261 - 249: Hunting Part 1

Chapter 261: Chapter 249: Hunting Part 1

In a residential area next to the school

Merrill and Cheng Guang sat in front of a laptop, watching the scenes within.

"What is Lin You doing? Kill him quickly!" Cheng Guang said, puzzled.

Merrill frowned and said, "The words Lin You just spoke, they were likely about herself. That’s just how she is. Feil has told me about some past incidents. It seems she was overly shocked the first time she faced death."

"Is that so?" Cheng Guang murmured thoughtfully as he watched the scenes on the monitor.

Lin You and the man stood confronting each other, both seemingly crying, shouting loudly.

"It’s really..." Cheng Guang didn’t finish the sentence but silently added, "stupid."

"To talk so long with an enemy." She suddenly felt infuriated about future developments.

Suddenly, a movement caught Merrill’s eye in the corner.

"Huh?" She leaned in closer to take a better look.

"Cheng Guang, does this monitor react to all types of energy?"

Cheng Guang nodded, "Of course, it reacts more or less to most energy systems. What’s up?"

Merrill pointed to a corner of the screen.

"What’s that?"

She pointed to a dark corner at the edge of the battle area. There was a tiny light spot, pale blue in color, about the size of a sesame seed.

Cheng Guang paused, then his fingers swiftly began to move.

"There shouldn’t be any dead pixels, right?"

After some testing.

"Everything is normal, no problem." After resetting the monitor, "I tuned the program a bit, now it should be fine," Cheng Guang said with a smile.

Indeed, the dead pixel was gone.

"Look, it’s gone. It might have been a temporary data overflow or a display glitch," Cheng Guang said casually.

"Is that so?" Merrill felt uneasy about dismissing it as a mere dead pixel.

She looked thoughtfully at that same corner.

****************

Lin Fei stood in the corner, wrapped in the power of the Dream Eater.

Outside the corner, he heard everything Lin You and that man said.

It was less about Lin You really talking to that man, and more about her speaking to herself. Originally, she was self-centered, thinking the whole world revolved around her. But the total annihilation of the mercenaries that followed later hit her hard. Perhaps that was why she ended up crying today.

Ch!,

The sound of a blade piercing flesh suddenly rang out.

Then came Lin You’s voice, choked with tears.

"What are you doing? Do you think dying will solve anything?"

Lin Fei didn’t want to listen anymore.

"After some time, Lin You has actually become this kind of person, showing mercy to enemies?" A cold smile appeared on his lips. "Since my rebirth, I have been striving to become stronger every moment, so as not to repeat the mistakes of my past life. Protecting her from the shadows so many times. And yet, she turned out this way. Perhaps it’s time for her to face a real crisis on her own."

For some reason, a sudden annoyance and irritability surged in Lin Fei’s heart.

"Kill! Kill! Kill!"

A sharp laugh echoed in his ears again.

"Get back!" Lin Fei roared in his mind.

The voice instantly fell silent.

He looked down at the Black Demon Sword in his hand, its black hilt intricately intertwined with countless threads, like myriad unrelated souls screaming and wailing.

"I am drenched in blood, yet you can’t even bear to kill an enemy, what an ironic contrast," he muttered.

With a faint noise, Lin Fei disappeared from the spot.

*******************

On the outskirts of Ping City, on a highway. The gray-white concrete of the road gleamed eerily white under the moonlight.

The surrounding woods were continuous with the sounds of various insects and frogs. A breeze blew, warm yet with a chill to it.

At that moment, both sides of the highway were quiet, with no cars passing by.

Suddenly

Hss...

A purple dot suddenly appeared above the highway. The dot was initially circular, only the size of a basketball, then it instantly expanded. Like a firework bursting, the light flashed.

An SUV abruptly materialized on the road surface, still emitting strands of electrical sparks.

"Cough, cough... cough..." The car door swung open. A man with purple hair coughed as he jumped out of the car.

"Damn it! Who was that person just now? How could their aura be so terrifying!" A blonde woman got out from the back door, looking pale.

"That person, just one glance from him, and I knew I had to run, the farther the better!" The purple-haired man was still haunted by the stare. "That kind of gaze..." he muttered. "I’ve only seen it in one other person."

"Deputy Group Leader, are you alright?" a black-haired woman also got out of the car and asked in a grave voice.

"I’m fine, just a bit drained," the purple-haired man forced a smile. "We must move quickly. I suspect that person might still follow us. Let everyone rest a bit and then move out immediately. Lina, could you check the car for faults? I hope the impact of the teleportation was minimal."

The blonde woman nodded. She walked to the front of the car and directly began inspecting under the hood.

"Deputy Leader, we didn’t even know the strength of that person just now, why did you decide to move immediately?" Avril asked, puzzled.

"You wouldn’t understand," the deputy murmured, "If we had been any later, I guarantee that one of us three would’ve been left there permanently. The smell of blood on him nearly suffocated me! The way he looked at us, like pigs and dogs headed for slaughter, he could kill on a whim, that terrifying mindset... it was too horrifying..."

"This is just a small city in the Hua Nation, how could such a powerful figure appear here?" Avril wondered. Although she hadn’t directly felt what the deputy had, his description made her realize that they might have encountered a very fierce opponent this time.

"We must leave immediately. I’ve used the long-distance ability twice in a row, and I urgently need to recover for the next teleportation. I’m temporarily incapable of moving," he said.

The deputy turned his head and shouted forward.

"Lina, okay?"

"Okay!" The blonde woman made a gesture.

"Get in the car, we are leaving now!"

The three of them hurriedly opened the car door and got in.

The engine started quickly. The headlights turned on directly, casting two beams on the road ahead.

"Hurry, hurry, hurry! We must leave here immediately!"

"Really?"

"Yes, we must..." The purple-haired man suddenly froze. He felt icy cold all over, stiffly turning his head back.

A man shrouded in darkness was sitting quietly in the back of the car.

"Oh!! My God!!!"

On the highway, a black SUV suddenly stopped, screeching as it dragged a long mark on the road surface before ending up sideways in the middle of the road. The headlights and engine went out immediately.

All fell silent.

Then, a speeding vehicle that was going over a hundred miles per hour couldn’t brake in time and slammed into the SUV. Both vehicles plunged off a cliff not far ahead.

Boom!!

A loud explosion followed, and both cars fell into the abyss, where after two minutes, another explosion occurred, and a fiery red blaze shot up from the bottom of the cliff.

At the cliff edge, where the barrier was broken, a man quietly looked down for a moment. Then he suddenly disappeared.

At the bottom of the cliff, a black cellphone wrapped in a thick rubber case was scattered aside, falling among the messy rocks.

Buzz!

The cellphone was still functioning, suddenly lighting up and vibrating intensely, displaying the incoming call marked ’BOSS’.

The phone continued to vibrate, but no one answered it.

Slap!

A hand, nearly charred, suddenly grabbed the phone. The fingers trembled as they fumbled to press the answer button.

"Hello, Solo?" a hoarse male voice came from the phone.

But no one could answer anymore. The intense flames roared and cracked, and the hand no longer had the strength to move, freezing in place.

"Solo?" the hoarse voice seemed to sense something wrong. "Are you there? Answer me!!"

*************

Near Philippine waters

On a medium-sized white fishing boat

The night wind howled, and the dark sea seemed to swallow everything in its wake. The waves surged relentlessly. The fishing boat was docked at the port. The entire vessel swayed constantly with the waves.

A middle-aged man with a mustache stood on the deck, loudly questioning while holding his phone.

"Damn it! Bad signal again?" he asked for a long time, but all he heard were strange crackling and burning sounds. "Solo! If you blast your rock music this loud again, I swear I’ll cut off half of your ears next time I see you!"

Then, a sudden loud bang came from the phone.

Slap!

The call cut off abruptly.

The man’s face changed immediately. He quickly made another two calls, but both were unsurprisingly unreachable.

"Could it be?? Something happened??!!" He turned and rushed into the cabin, sprinting directly up to the second floor.

In the control room, a muscular bald man with dark skin was sitting at the console wearing only shorts. His bronzed skin reflected a fierce gloss under the light, and he wore a bronze necklace around his chest.

"Boss! Something’s wrong! I can’t reach the deputy team at all," the man said anxiously, "All I heard on the phone were burning sounds and explosions."

"Impossible, Solo’s spatial ability can easily traverse thousands of miles, there’s no way he didn’t even have a chance to call for help. It must be interference," the bald man said indifferently.

"What we need to focus on right now is the matter at hand!" the bald boss said solemnly. "At yesterday’s banquet, that man from Hua Nation named Yuan Yicheng dared to confront me head-on! If we don’t handle this properly, everyone around will be waiting to mock us!" He ran his hand across his face, and like modeling clay, his entire face transformed into another completely-- a middle-aged man with a worried expression.

"I’ll use this identity to deal with them."

"But boss, the deputy and them..." the man said anxiously, still uneasy about the strange feeling the phone call had given him.

"Never mind that! They’ll be fine!" (To be continued. If you like this work, welcome to Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendation and Monthly Tickets, your support is my greatest motivation.)
