True Solution of the Sword Dao
Chapter 258 - 246: Fangs II

Chapter 258: Chapter 246: Fangs II

"Swift Wolf Crim, I’ve heard of him too," Merrill frowned. "They say he’s incredibly fast, having escaped certain death numerous times. That’s why he’s also known as the Lucky Wolf in Australia."

"How strong is he really?" Cheng Guang asked.

"I’m not sure," Merrill shook her head, "these high-level mercenaries with titles all have their own trump cards, not to be simply judged by external rating systems. But I suppose he’s pretty decent among D-level fighters."

"If that’s the case, then it’s troublesome," Cheng Guang frowned. "I’m not combat personnel; I’m only good at security surveillance, targeted demolition, even moonlighting as a network hacker works, but I’m certainly not combat personnel. A single bullet would do me in."

"I’m just logistics, good at healing and such, but fighting is definitely not my job," Merrill quickly chimed in.

Both of their gazes suddenly fell on Lin You.

"It’s up to you now, little You," Merrill gazed at Lin You, causing her to feel a chill.

"What... what do you want to do?" Lin You took a few steps back, her face reddening as she seemed to recall something, still shaken by the incident from the other day.

"Go on, little You. Some things have to be confronted eventually," Feil said calmly.

Lin You looked at the three people staring at her. "Are you suggesting that I go alone?"

"You can never grow into a qualified warrior with just eternal training," Merrill stated indifferently. "Stepping into this world, you have to be ready for the killing and getting killed."

She turned to Cheng Guang. "I need to protect her and also check on your parents’ safety. I can’t be in two places at once. So it’s all on you now. Besides, from the very beginning, I made it very clear: I won’t help you fight, but I will watch how you surpass me step by step."

"Alright, you’ll see," Lin You clenched her fists and nodded forcefully.

Southwest Province Fengyang Airport

Among the crowd exiting the airport was an ordinary-looking boy with messy short hair, strolling out leisurely. This boy was just like any ordinary young man you’d see on the streets, inconspicuous in clothes and average in build, the type that, once lost in the crowd, would be hard to pick out again.

This person was Lin Fei, who had just flown back from the Capital City.

After receiving a call from Lu Jun, he hastily created a Divine Artifact clone to take his place at school while his real self immediately caught a plane to the Southwest Province.

Following the stream of people out of the airport, there was a line of various vehicles parked along the curb outside, clearly there to pick someone up, including some taxis. The scorching sun beat down on these cars, every now and then reflecting dazzling lights.

Lin Fei walked slowly along the parking lane, heading away from the airport.

A black sedan on the left front side slowly rolled down its window, revealing a smiling, beautiful face.

"Boss! Over here," Xiao Ling called out from the driver’s seat.

Lin Fei walked over and sat in the passenger seat after opening the car door.

"How were you so sure it was me?"

Xiao Ling took out her phone from in front of the car window and waved it with pride. "I’ve called out the wrong name many times already. Finally got it right this time. According to the outfit description you sent in the text, I’ve seen quite a few at the airport today."

"You’ve worked hard," Lin Fei said with a smile.

"Not really, it’s my job," Xiao Ling shook her head and started the sedan.

"What’s the situation now?"

"Troublesome. This Crim may not be so simple. It seems like he’s got some stronger people directing him from behind." Xiao Ling frowned. "It might involve the Australian mercenary scene."

"This Energy Scepter is like honey attracting more and more people. Got any information on Crim?" Lin Fei asked.

"Right here." Xiao Ling passed her phone, opening an email for him.

"Thanks a lot, Xiao Ling," Lin Fei smiled, "The situation at the organization is chaotic, the upper echelons are basically out of control, and we can’t get any reliable intelligence from the intel department. We have to use your connections now."

"It’s nothing," Xiao Ling replied respectfully, "It’s what I should do."

Lin Fei took the phone, and the contents of the email were displayed right on the screen. He quickly scanned through the contents.

"Crim is not a concern, but the trouble is, he probably wants to take advantage of the fact that some people haven’t managed to come over yet and try to grab the Energy Scepter first. The trouble is those people behind him," Xiao Ling elaborated. "According to the information I have, the Fangs Mercenary Group that’s backing him is very strong. No idea where they came from."

"Fangs Mercenary Group?"

"Yes, it’s said that each member is as strong as Crim. It’s an elite mercenary squad from Australia," Xiao Ling explained.

Lin Fei frowned slightly.

Yuan Yicheng had left Hua Nation to carry out a mission and hadn’t returned yet. Sis was still in the United Kingdom recovering from injuries, and the Red Hand had gone to rescue his old friend. Counting his available forces, it seemed there weren’t many he could use right away. Moreover, the involvement of Dream Eaters like the Red Hand in the affairs of the Inner World might cause great turmoil, which was not what Lin Fei wanted to see. The fact that he flew back so quickly was not without reason.

"According to the email, the leader of this Fangs Mercenary Group, Sawtooth, seems to be a mysterious person. Everyone who has seen his true strength has died," Xiao Ling continued, "The ones coming this time are only part of the members; the others are off on another important mission. Moreover, this mercenary group is extremely vicious. It’s said they also follow their leader’s style, silencing any civilians who witness their operations."

Lin Fei quietly read the email on the phone while listening to Xiao Ling’s explanation.

"That’s pretty much the situation," Xiao Ling concluded.

"Do I have good reason to believe that this Fangs Mercenary Group is definitely here for the Energy Scepter?" Lin Fei asked softly.

"Very likely," Xiao Ling nodded.

Lin Fei narrowed his eyes slightly, turning to look at the rapidly moving landscape outside the window.

"I got it."

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away.

Philippines

On a beach.

"Boss?" A muscular black man looked puzzled at the tall figure standing before him.

"What’s wrong?" Yuan Yicheng snapped out of his daze.

"What should we do next? After this task is completed?"

A slight smile formed on Yuan Yicheng’s lips.

"There might be a big operation coming up..."

Lin Fei’s voice slowly rose in his ears.

"How are things with the Fangs Mercenary Group now?"

"Coincidentally, their leader Fang has been seen wandering around in our nearby area. Seems like he’s on an assassination mission." Yuan Yicheng responded.

"Get your men ready," Lin Fei said indifferently.

"Always at your command," Yuan Yicheng smiled.

Sword Canon Space

Lin Fei’s phantom stood quietly in the center of the lawn. It was merely a simple aura silhouette created using the power of the Dream Eater granted by the Divine Artifact, possessing no attack power.

Jin and Ye Yuhua stood side by side before him.

"I am about to make a breakthrough and will select one of you two to go out."

Both of their expressions tightened at the same time, but neither spoke.

"The time is set for the day after tomorrow."

Lin Fei’s image suddenly turned into specks of light and dissipated.

Jin glanced at Ye Yuhua lightly.

"The chosen one will definitely be me."

"Is that so?" Ye Yuhua turned and left, her body quickly turning into fine sand-like silver specks of light.

Jin licked his fingers lightly, his eyes looking bewitching as he too suddenly turned into numerous golden specks of light and vanished.

****************

Within a forest less than ten kilometers from the Ping City downtown area.

Green trees densely masked the sunlight, leaving only speckles of light filtering through.

The deep green grass was so tall it could submerge one’s ankles, some even reaching the knees.

Yet in this dense forest, on the grassland, a black SUV stood quietly between the trees, with no clue as to how it had managed to drive through the surrounding dense woods.

The SUV was shiny as new, with one door open, where a glamorous blonde woman leaned against, her arms crossed as she watched a short pony-tailed, black-haired, yellow-skinned woman in front of her.

The black-haired ponytailed woman sat directly on the grass with her hands resting on her knees, occasional hissing sounds accompanied by flashes of blue electric sparks flickering around her before quickly vanishing.

"Avril. We have been here for two hours already!" The blonde woman, speaking English with an exasperated expression, was heavily made up with dark eyeshadow. "How much longer do you need to recover your powers?"

The woman sitting on the ground frowned, "At least three more hours."

"Three hours! My God!" The blonde woman clutched her head and moaned in agony. "Alright, to save time, we need to wake that guy up now."

"I’d advise against it. The deputy leader lost a fair bit at cards yesterday. He’s in a foul mood," Avril said lightly.

"Screw his damn bad mood! I’m even angrier now!" The blonde woman abruptly pulled open the rear door and stepped up forcefully.

Bang!

A burst of purple light suddenly flashed. The blonde woman was sent flying backward, crashing into the dense forest.

Then a series of drum-like thudding sounds continued to emerge. Numerous startled birds took off in a flurry from above the trees.

"Damn it!! Jess! You freaking jerk, I spent two hours putting on my makeup!! My God!!" From within the woods, the blonde woman’s voice was furious.

"Shut up!!" A young man with purple-dyed hair got out of the car, rubbing his forehead continuously, his face laced with blue veins that looked like wriggling earthworms, quite ferocious. "Avril, what’s the situation now?"

"If you don’t make a move, we’ll have to spend the night here," said the woman sitting on the ground indifferently.

"Is that so?" The purple-haired young man nodded. "Then, everybody come back. I’m going to take action."

Moments later, after a flash of purple lightning, the three of them along with the SUV disappeared without a trace. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, please visit Qidian.com to cast your recommendation votes and Monthly Tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
