True Solution of the Sword Dao -
Chapter 237 - 227: Heart 1
Chapter 237: Chapter 227: Heart 1
"Huff...."
Lin Fei’s eyes widened and sweat slowly trickled down his temples, forming a single drop that gradually fell.
"Such immense pressure, if it weren’t for the assistance of the Divine Beast Miao..." he knew very well, that had it not been for the Divine Beast’s intervention, he might have been crushed into an even more miserable state of severe injury than before.
And then, everything returned to calm in an instant, with only the crystal-clear diamond lying quietly in the palm of his hand, emitting a faint luminescence without any sign of abnormality.
The giant he had just seen, the armor, and the endless flames and darkness.
It all seemed like an illusion.
"What’s the history behind that giant? And the armor?" Lin Fei’s thoughts raced. He felt that both were closely related to the pseudo True Force. That wild laughter was extremely grating to the ear.
The most striking thing to him was the armor at the end. He didn’t describe it using "that," but rather definitely with "the," as if the armor was a living thing, perhaps a kind of grand will.
Hidden inside that armor was some kind of terrifying power unknown to man.
"Shuang’er, did you hear anything just now?" Lin Fei turned around and saw Shuang’er lying on the sofa, her two little legs shaking and sticking up high.
"Hear what?" Shuang’er looked up, "Nothing at all."
"Is that so?"
"Brother, why are you sweating so much?" Shuang’er asked puzzled.
"It’s nothing." Lin Fei forced a smile.
"You go to bed first. I’m heading back."
"Oh, see you tomorrow, brother." Shuang’er obediently went to the washroom to wash up.
Lin Fei nodded his head.
He turned and disappeared in an instant.
Within the white space.
Lin Fei stood at the edge of the spatial wall.
"Sword Canon, notify Yuan Yicheng to come see me."
Lin Fei extended his hand and lightly pressed against the spatial wall.
Countless ripples spread out, and a round, transparent hole appeared on the white spatial wall, revealing the boundless starry space outside.
The vast terracotta planet moved slowly, and from time to time, bright comets streaked across the field of vision while some scattered black meteorites floated leisurely before his eyes.
Before him lay the depths of the cosmos, the whereabouts of which were unknown.
Suddenly, a figure in a silver-gray suit appeared behind Lin Fei.
"My lord, I’m here."
Yuan Yicheng bowed slightly.
Lin Fei turned around. In his hand, a golden light appeared instantaneously.
The light quickly dispersed into ten fine golden strands, automatically flying into Yuan Yicheng’s hand.
The latter spread his palm.
"Is this the Power of True Lies?"
"Yes, absorb one for yourself, and the rest can be carefully chosen to be bestowed upon Dream Eaters."
Giving Yuan Yicheng the Power of True Lies was something Lin Fei had already decided upon.
A genius Swordsman like Yuan Yicheng, who was considered elite even within a Sword Dao-dominant Sect like the Siyue Sword Sect, was naturally no ordinary person. Allowing him to develop on his own with provided resources was much better than keeping him at his side all the time.
"This world is vast, you’re free to do anything you wish, but when needed, I will call for your help."
Yuan Yicheng immediately understood Lin Fei’s implication. It meant that unless it was a major issue, he would typically not disturb his Cultivation and freedom.
"Yes." His figure turned into countless light points and scattered, taking the golden strands with him as he left the space.
Lin Fei lifted his hand, and within the Divine Instrument Diamond in his palm, a few twisted, strange characters faintly flickered.
*****************
In the blink of an eye, military training was coming to an end.
Lin Fei had been using his Divine Artifact clone to stand in for himself during the mechanical training days, which were finally coming to an end.
After the final military training competition, all matters came to an end. Lin Fei’s Class 1 in Theoretical Physics didn’t achieve any ranking and concluded their military training time rather sullenly after bidding a reluctant goodbye to their instructor.
All the freshmen then began their real university life.
October
In the south dormitory building of Yan Capital University.
Lin Fei entered his second-floor dorm room with a big stack of books in his arms. He gently placed the newly collected books on his desk, forming a thick pile almost half as tall as a person, with a blue-cased optics textbook on top.
Sitting in his seat, he waited for about fifteen minutes before the other three roommates entered, panting and carrying books.
"My goodness," Du Xiaosheng gasped for air as he dropped the books and flopped onto his chair, "Lin Fei, you look so slender, I didn’t expect you to have such good stamina!"
Shi Ran was also out of breath, with sweat covering his face.
Ouyang Dong’s complexion was somewhat pale.
From the logistics area of the north campus to the south campus boys’ dormitory, the distance was indeed quite far, which explained why the three were so exhausted.
"I’m fine," Lin Fei said with a smile, "I used to exercise a lot."
"What did you practice? With such impressive strength, it must be long-distance running, right?" Du Xiaosheng asked.
"No. I practiced traditional swordsmanship," Lin Fei replied calmly.
"Traditional swordsmanship? What’s that? Is it like those TV shows where they swing a sword around and make it look fancy?" Ouyang Dong asked, puzzled.
"Not exactly, it’s more like the health-focused swordsmanship, similar to Tai Chi Sword." When Lin Fei practiced swordsmanship, she actually wasn’t fast, indeed somewhat slow like Tai Chi Sword.
"Really? Is that kind of thing so amazing?" Shi Ran removed his glasses and wiped the sweat from his brow. "I have a friend in Japan studying traditional Sword Dao, but I’ve never heard him mention it being this amazing?"
"What I practice is just good for endurance, nothing else. It’s not really useful for actual combat," Lin Fei said with a smile.
"After getting our books today, we’ll officially start classes the day after tomorrow; they’ve given us a day to rest in between. What do you guys plan to do on that day?" Shi Ran asked.
At that moment, a chubby boy peeked his head into the room from outside.
"Du Xiaosheng, are you going to the internet café later?"
Du Xiaosheng stood up.
"Yeah, I’m going. I have nothing else to do, so I might as well rest for the whole day."
After Du Xiaosheng left, the other two also found reasons to leave.
The four roommates in the dorm would chat occasionally when they had nothing else going on, but they weren’t really close to each other. Shi Ran and Ouyang Dong came from quite wealthy families and had a somewhat condescending attitude toward Du Xiaosheng. They also didn’t have much in common with Lin Fei, who always liked to be mysterious.
It was rather rare for them to chat like this.
After sitting for a while, Lin Fei stood up and headed out toward the library.
"Ouyang Dong? Someone’s looking for him," Fan Weidong called out from next door as he poked his head in. He seemed slightly hesitant at first, apparently not very familiar with the people here.
"He’s not here," Lin Fei responded offhandedly.
"Then where did he go?" A pleasant-sounding female voice came from outside, and just after, the door was pushed wide open.
A tall, young woman with shoulder-length hair entered. The woman’s hair was dyed a light brown, and her eyebrows arched upward at the sides, giving her an imposing and aggressive air as she casually scrutinized the dorm room’s surroundings.
Aside from that, she was quite a beauty.
Lin Fei sat back down.
"I don’t know. You can try calling him."
"He’s not picking up," the girl said as she walked into the dorm, looking around before finally sitting in Ouyang Dong’s spot, probably having noticed it from the name tag by the bed.
"Hey, handsome, got a minute? Can you do me a favor?" she said, directly addressing Lin Fei.
Lin Fei was taken aback.
"If you’re looking for Ouyang Dong, he probably won’t be back until this afternoon. You can come back then," Lin Fei suggested.
"No, it’s not that. The thing is, we need some guys to help move some books on the girls’ side. Could you give us a hand?" the girl asked with a smile.
Lin Fei turned and glanced at her.
"Sorry, I’m also busy. I’m about to go out."
It was only then that the girl got a good look at Lin Fei’s face and a brief look of surprise and unease flitted across her eyes, as a feeling of discomfort suddenly rose up from the depths of her heart.
"Hey, can’t you show a little chivalry? It’s just a small favor, ya know~~"
"You can find other dorms to help out. I believe they would be very willing to assist you, but I really don’t have the time. Sorry," Lin Fei said as she stood up, walked to the door, and held it, clearly signaling the girl: It’s time for you to leave.
He had a lot to do and didn’t have time to entertain such trivial matters with this young woman.
"Fine, I’ll ask someone else." The girl stood up and strode out of the dorm, obviously a bit angry.
Lin Fei shook her head, locked the dorm room door, and headed downstairs. But she had only just reached the stairwell when that same girl came by, leading a group of boys who had obviously been persuaded by her.
Lin Fei watched the group of boys, chuckling silently at their overly excited state, knowing they would be tired soon enough.
To get from the dorm to the library, one had to pass through the campus plaza.
The plaza was set up with one booth after another, with people from various student organizations and clubs trying to recruit newcomers.
There were many people in front of sports clubs like basketball and soccer, and not a few in front of the calligraphy association, fine arts association, psychology society, or anime club. Only a large number of booths occupied by the most assertive professional associations, such as the Life Sciences Association and others named after a major or department, had the least amount of people signing up.
Just as Lin Fei entered the plaza, a petite and cute girl approached him:
"Fellow student, you’re a new student this year, right? Would you like to join our Literature Club? We warmly welcome newcomers who enjoy writing poetry and songs."
No sooner had she finished speaking, another sweet-looking girl came over:
"Do you like anime? Our Anime Club is an association formed spontaneously by students who love anime, and we often have very interesting activities."
Newcomers who had entered the plaza with Lin Fei were also being stopped by various club members, being persuaded to join.
This included the Taekwondo Association, Martial Arts Club, Street Dance Club, English Club, and even things like the Entrepreneurship Association... there were a whole lot of them. Most clubs and societies in universities were started by older students on their own, leading to a wide variety.
Lin Fei declined one offer after another as he looked around, even spotting a Lottery Association... It seemed the school maintained a very open environment.
Leaving the busy and noisy plaza behind,
he entered the library and was struck by the stark contrast, the extreme shift from noise to silence.
After checking the library map, Lin Fei got straight onto the elevator and headed to the fourth floor. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for Monthly Tickets at qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
