Chapter 182: Chapter 176 Softness 2
"If only we didn’t have to train, that would be so great!" Lin You muttered softly.
The girl across blinked.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing! Nothing at all!" Lin You quickly shook his head.
Feil, on the side, was sipping milk daintily and transmitted his thoughts.
"Dream on, it’s rare for Chris to train you so diligently. She’s a veteran who has survived being hunted by a multitude of psychics to this day. Her experience is not to be underestimated. Others would beg for this opportunity. You should be grateful."
"Who would want this kind of opportunity? They can have it," Lin You said irritably.
"Suffer now, bleed less later," Feil lazily commented.
"Easy for you to say," Lin You glared fiercely at Feil.
"You don’t know what’s good for you," Feil said nonchalantly.
Lin You was furious, grabbed Feil in one swoop. "No more eating for you!" He grabbed a napkin from the side. His eyes shifted, and the corners of his mouth slightly curved up.
"Oh my, look at the mess you’ve made, even drinking milk can get so dirty, really, there’s no helping you," Lin You said as he fiercely rubbed the napkin back and forth over Feil’s cat face.
"Um...." Feil struggled desperately, but his feline body was no match against human hands.
"Do you like cats, Lin You?" The girl across asked curiously. "I don’t really like to keep animals. Cats, dogs, they all seem so dirty." She made a disgusted face. "Especially since I’ve heard they have lots of fleas. Gross!" she said with disgust.
"Not bad, Feil doesn’t have fleas. He knows how to bathe himself," Lin You said with a smile.
"Really? He can bathe himself?" the girl suddenly became interested.
"Uses the toilet on his own, eats on his own, and is very polite," Lin You said proudly.
"So impressive," the girl became even more interested, eyes sparkling as she looked at Feil.
Feil looked unimpressed. "Any normal person can do these things..."
"Such an impressive cat," the girl’s eyes shone even brighter.
"Of course, he’s my cat, Lin You, after all!" Lin You boasted with a tilted face.
"How much?" The girl suddenly pointed at Feil.
"How much to sell him to me?"
"Uh..." Lin You was stunned, "No! Not for sale!"
"A thousand!" The girl took a sip of her tea gently.
"Not selling!" Lin You firmly refused.
"Two thousand!"
"No way!"
"Four thousand!"
"No deal!" But Lin You already had a face that seemed to say a little more might make it negotiable.
"Then forget it," the girl regained her composure. "Actually, I’m not that interested, just wanted to breed him with my younger brother’s Jellicle. This cat looks quite fine."
"Breed??" Lin You’s eyes widened. Thinking of Feil breeding with a normal cat... um...
Feil, in his hand, suddenly meowed fiercely, struggled free, and jumped off the table, dashing away.
"By the way, it’s my birthday soon, and we’re having a party at home, you must come." the girl said earnestly.
"A birthday party?"
"Not really a party, just hanging out with friends. By the way, how did you celebrate your birthday? Surely not at some outdated KTV? I have a friend who rented out a whole bar for hers. Turned it into a birthday venue, seemed quite lazy but novel. There’s a guy who had it worst—every birthday is arranged by his family, always adults attending, not fun at all. And then there’s another......" the girl chattered on.
Lin You felt somewhat embarrassed; she had actually never had any sort of birthday celebration. Such things, even among ordinary wealthy families, weren’t common, only the really rich and prominent families would arrange them. Obviously, the girl’s previous social circle was like that.
Although her competitive nature made her reluctant to be outdone, that was the reality. Whether she liked it or not, such a social circle was far beyond her reach.
"Actually, I’ve never had a birthday party," she suddenly interrupted the girl.
"Never had one?" the girl asked, puzzled.
Saying it out loud, Lin You felt much lighter. "My family isn’t as rich as yours. Did you think everyone was like you?"
"Oh, I see," the girl nodded understandingly. "No worries, we are sisters, what’s mine is yours, and yours is mine! I’ll throw your party for you next time!"
She patted her not so ample chest earnestly.
"Let’s not," Lin You took it as a joke.
"I’m serious," the girl said displeased. "Lin You, what do you think I, Kong Qiyu, am? We are good sisters! Honestly, when the term started, I quarreled with Wang Jifan, almost got slapped by him, if not for you holding him back!! Hmph!! There were so many boys and girls in the class, yet you were the only one who stood up for me. Right then, I decided, you, Lin You, from now on, you’re my good sister, Kong Qiyu!"
Kong Qiyu and Wang Jifan were notable figures in their grade. Each school year usually had one or two standout students, either for their privileged families and talents or for their influence and brashness, just like Xu Ke in Lin Fei’s time.
"Seriously!" Kong Qiyu pleaded, "You must come! If you don’t like noisy places, I’ll just invite a few people and we can have a small birthday party. You don’t need to bring any gifts, just come and enjoy yourself. That would be the greatest honor for me."
Having heard this, Lin You had no choice but to agree.
"Alright then, I’ll definitely come."
Kong Qiyu immediately beamed with joy, "I’ll pick you up then."

Four days later...
A plane from London slowly descended onto the runway at Lin Hai City Airport. The immense roar was accompanied by the howling of the wind, spreading far and wide.
At the airport’s VIP passage, a brown-haired man in sunglasses was slowly walked out, surrounded and protected by a group of people who seemed to be passengers. The crowd around was filled with diversely dressed protectors.
The man was in his twenties, with a warm smile, a high nose bridge, and fair skin, sporting a classic Western handsome appearance.
"Boss, please leave quickly, this place is complex, with a huge flow of people, and it’s very unsafe," a burly Caucasian man in a short-sleeved shirt and beach shorts whispered to him.
"Go straight to the place I booked in advance. Is the car arranged?"
"No problem," a black-haired man from Hua Nation said gravely on one side.
"Let’s go then." The man nodded and walked ahead.

Ping City Outer Loop Alley
Shuang’er’s place remained spotless, so clean it seemed like no one ever lived there.
The air swirled with a faint malevolence, wrapping around every speck of dust and debris.
Lin Fei sat on the sofa, watching TV quietly.
Shuang’er sat beside him, leaning on him.
Sometimes Lin Fei would come over to keep Shuang’er company, just sitting together like this, letting her lean on him.
After sitting for a while, Shuang’er jumped off the sofa and suddenly dashed into the kitchen.
Lin Fei smiled, stood up, and gently pulled the curtains shut, blocking the outside view. Then he turned and walked toward the kitchen, only to see Shuang’er standing on tiptoes, reaching for the cupboard handle on the wall but struggling due to her height.
Upon seeing Lin Fei enter the kitchen, Shuang’er pointed at the cupboard.
"Brother."
Lin Fei walked over and gently opened the cupboard door.
"Shuang’er, what are you trying to do?"
"I wanted to cook a meal," Shuang’er said, sounding a bit downcast. "But I’m too short."
"Cook?" Lin Fei laughed dryly. "Alright, alright. We can just order takeaway; it’s much less trouble."
Shuang’er nodded reluctantly, glancing at the kitchen table where two eggs and some vegetables laid. Clearly, she had somehow managed to buy these items.
"But we can’t waste these groceries. I bought them at thirty percent less than the normal market price," Shuang’er said seriously.
Lin Fei couldn’t help but recall Shuang’er bargaining seriously with the vegetable vendors and found her even more adorable. He reached out and gently squeezed her cheek.
"You’re still recovering from injuries after being attacked twice by the Dream Eater from Wu Family. You should rest properly; there’s no rush to do these things yet."
"Oh~~~" Shuang’er nodded obediently. However, she suddenly looked puzzled. "But brother, why did those adults call me ’little housekeeper’ when I was buying groceries?"
"Little housekeeper?" Lin Fei couldn’t help but laugh.
"And their way of bargaining didn’t follow normal patterns," Shuang’er said seriously, seeing Lin Fei still laughing, she couldn’t help but feel a bit annoyed.
"Oh dear, brother~~~~"
"Alright... alright... Give me a moment to catch... my breath..." Lin Fei, holding his stomach, almost choked with laughter. Finally, recovering, he saw Shuang’er still looking at him seriously, waiting for an explanation.
"A housekeeper manages all the household affairs, including finances, meals, and cleanliness," Lin Fei explained carefully, considering Shuang’er was clearly a highly intelligent girl, and he didn’t worry about her misunderstanding.
"So, you mean just like it sounds," Shuang’er mused. "Does that mean I could be considered your housekeeper?"
Lin Fei was taken aback, hesitated for a moment, then seeing Shuang’er’s expectant look, he finally responded, "That would be right."
"Really?"
"Yes, really," Lin Fei nodded.
"But I heard that housekeepers get a fixed salary from the men in the house every month," Shuang’er asked again.
"Uh..." Lin Fei was completely at a loss for words. "Let’s talk about that later..."
"Are you sure you’re not avoiding responsibility?" Shuang’er looked intently at Lin Fei.
Lin Fei’s face turned red, finally acknowledging that it wasn’t easy to deceive a highly intelligent child. He simply picked Shuang’er up and held her close. The pressure around them slowly receded. Black hair cascaded down, surrounding Shuang’er. A faint fragrance lingered around them.
Shuang’er gazed at Lin Fei, momentarily forgetting her questions. (To be continued. If you like this work, you’re welcome to visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for it with recommendation tickets or monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation.).
