Chapter 160: Chapter 154: The End of High School 2
Soon, the dishes slowly began to be served, a chaotic assortment of various dishes filled the table, more than twenty types.
Some classmates also brought over several cases of beer. Everyone promptly poured themselves a drink.
"To the three years we’ve spent together!" the class leader, Fang Xiao, said with a sweet smile that seemed to infect the entire restaurant. Everyone raised their beers high.
"Cheers!!"
Some drank in one gulp, others sipped slowly, and those who truly couldn’t handle more still frowned and took a sip.
Then the homeroom teacher stood in the middle and loudly spoke, mostly offering wishes and blessings. Although everyone always found him a bit naggy, always scolding with a stern face, in this moment, everyone felt a slight stirring in their hearts. It wasn’t for anything else but for the fact that they were about to leave this familiar school and the familiar surroundings. They harbored both anticipation and chaos about the future, and sentimentality about the familiar things they were leaving behind. No matter who, everyone had a faint feeling of melancholy.
"Today is your time! I, this old fellow, will not meddle here anymore, everyone have fun!" the homeroom teacher said, somewhat emotionally, as he left the hotel with the other attending teachers amid voices urging him to stay. The security at Dongning Hotel was excellent, so they had nothing to worry about.
Lin Fei sat eating the dishes on the table slowly. Ever since he started cultivating swordsmanship, he had become quite picky with his food, usually vegetables made up half of his meal, with the rest being meat and rice. Regardless of the taste, eating for him was not so much a process of enjoying the food as it was about fulfilling his necessary nutritional intake, as though it were a task.
After merging with Yan Shi’s experience, he adopted this beneficial lifestyle as well.
Eating as if completing a task, Lin Fei ate his meal slowly, unhurriedly managing each movement—picking up food, chewing, adding rice, serving soup, all very systematically. Yan Shi’s swordsmanship was ruthless; extremely pure and extremely dreadful. However, he himself loved Yan Jiu, so there were absolute flaws in his swordsmanship cultivation level, and thus he failed. But this does not mean his swordsmanship cultivation was a complete failure.
After the meal, a small group of classmates said their goodbyes and left. However, the majority decided to spend the last night together at KTV.
"Lin Fei, let’s go too," Chen Yun said, a bit drunk, slurring his words.
Just as Lin Fei was about to agree, he suddenly heard a burst of arguing from the hotel corridor entrance.
"They are fighting, they are fighting!!!" a male classmate yelled.
"Stop fighting!! Stop it, Chen Yi!!"
"Chen Yi! Don’t be reckless!!" other girls also shouted. Out of forty-some people in the class, about half had left, leaving twenty to thirty. Upon hearing the commotion in the corridor, they swarmed out of the restaurant in droves.
The corridor was wide, accommodating five or six people standing side by side with no problem. However, even though it was originally spacious, it was now tightly blocked by two groups of people. Lin Fei and Chen Yun had just squeezed out when they saw the people opposite.
They were all the same age as students and seemed to also be at a graduation dinner here.
"It’s the power plant students!" a classmate recognized the opposite group, "Some of them are wearing uniforms from the power plant affiliate school!" he pointed at a boy in a uniform in the opposite crowd.
The power plant affiliate school was one of the more famous schools in Ping City. However, unlike key schools like the Third Middle School, it was known for its students’ fighting.
Lin Fei noticed that in the middle of the two groups, four or five boys had already tangled with each other, surrounded by a heavy stench of alcohol. The boys, their faces reddening, all seemed to be drunk. But just as he had come out, the boys on the other side suddenly yelled, and a group surged forward to join the fray. This caused the Third Middle School side to become unsettled. Originally, nobody wanted to get involved in such trouble, but seeing that the other side joined in, and their classmates were being hit, if they didn’t react, they would definitely be looked down upon by others, not to mention that many girls were watching. Additionally, most had drunk quite a bit, emboldening them considerably.
"Go!!" shouted a male student, and even the normally genteel boys from the key classes surged forward, crashing against the other side. Instantly, the scene turned chaotic.
The shouts of the boys, the cries of pain, the screams of the girls. Decorative vases in the corridor were knocked over, rolling to the side with a rumble.
The hotel security had just arrived and saw the chaotic scene before them. With limited numbers, they could only use their radios to call for more security from other areas, and for now, they could only stand on the perimeter, anxiously watching, fearing someone might get severely injured or even killed, which would be very troublesome.
Not far from the other side of the hotel building.
Ding!
The VIP elevator in the corridor suddenly opened, and a somewhat bald middle-aged man quickly stepped out, standing aside with a beaming face.
"Please, Young Master," the bald man respectfully said. His action caused some passing employees to secretly marvel.
A female waitress carrying a dish asked her colleague curiously.
"Who is that in the elevator? Why is Manager Zhao acting like that?"
"Seems like someone from the upper management company came down, I’m not sure either," another employee shook their head. "But definitely not just anybody."
"Well, you don’t need to tell me that."
From their perspective, a young man in a white suit stepped out of the elevator, a smile curling at the corner of his mouth. His hair was somewhat long, his bangs almost covering half of his forehead, extending outwards, as if flying to the right. His appearance couldn’t exactly be called handsome, more pretty—a typical effeminate look, and he even had a frivolous air of a playboy. His arrogance was unconcealed in his eyes.
A muscular, tall man in a tight T-shirt, his nearly perfect muscle lines fully accent, followed the young man.
"You’re not needed here anymore," the young man casually ordered.
"Okay...okay, Young Master, please take your time with the review," the bald man said with a forced smile as he quickly left the two. He knew that Young Master Dong Yaofei always meant what he said and that even a slight disobedience could lead to unimaginable consequences. He had to quickly notify all the staff to be cautious.
"Master Dong Yaofei, today is the last day of the deadline. The old master said we must appear before him by noon tomorrow," the muscular man whispered.
"What’s the rush," Dong Yaofei said nonchalantly. "Let’s rest here today, and fly back directly tomorrow morning. We’ll make it in time."
"It’s mainly a safety issue," the muscular man said gravely.
"Don’t we have you, Uncle Yan? With your strength, don’t you have confidence in protecting just me?"
The muscular man fell silent. As the eldest son of the Dong Family, Dong Yaofei practically had everything his way, and his identity alone was powerful enough, not to mention this time...
The two slowly walked down the corridor, with Dong Yaofei typing and sending a text message on his phone. "I heard from Brother Minghui that there’s a real swordsmanship expert here. I came specifically to find him, and it’s taken so long. I don’t want to go back until the last moment."
While they were talking, suddenly a barrage of shouting and cursing came from the other side of the building.
"Huh?" Dong Yaofei turned his head and saw through the glass a chaotic brawl in the corridor of the opposite building.
"Just high school students fighting," the man surnamed Yan said indifferently.
"No, that’s not right! Uncle Yan, look at that person!" Dong Yaofei stared intently for a while, his face suddenly showing delight. He pointed at a teenager in the opposite corridor, clad in a black shirt, with long hair hanging down past his ears like a woman’s.
The others were fighting haphazardly, but only he, with a calm demeanor, easily dodged the punches swinging his way. It seemed like he was fighting, but he was actually just dodging. Ordinary people might not notice, but Dong Yaofei had always loved martial arts, and his bodyguards were top-level military experts. Naturally, his vision was extraordinary.
Lin Fei was merely dodging, or pulling back from some extremely dangerous attacks, not participating in the fight himself. It soon ended when a group of security guards rushed over and separated the students.
"You just wait!!"
"My dad is coming! Just you watch! This isn’t over!!"
"Don’t let me see you again!!....."
Both sides hurled severe national curses and harsh words at each other.
Lin Fei clapped his hands, looked around, and realized that Chen Yun had slipped away at some point. He couldn’t help but sigh with resignation. Soon, the sound of police sirens started up, and Lin Fei, noticing others were distracted, quietly retreated to the corner of the corridor, straightening his clothes. He didn’t want to waste time being taken to the station, even if it was just for a statement.
This noisy gathering thus ended in a bizarre manner, and probably many years later, classmates would still remember what happened today.
Lin Fei gently took out his phone, which had a message from Xiaoling that had just come in.
"I must be your personal secretary! It’s my own choice."
Lin Fei was initially stunned, then smiled.
Xiaoling’s family had significant influence, but they had reservations about her becoming his personal secretary for life. They felt it was fine for a short period, but not suitable in the long run. Her recent absence was also due to them grounding her.
Suddenly, faint footsteps came from the corridor ahead.
This was already a secluded part of the hotel, and for some reason, people seldom passed by. The marble floor, smooth as a mirror, and the air, subtly chilly, made the space feel spacious and cold.
The footsteps were coming from up ahead.
Lin Fei put away his phone and looked forward, but saw no one. The footsteps stopped, and not a sound came forth. It seemed as if something was waiting.
The cold moonlight spilled through the window onto the floor, reflecting a faint white light.
A subtle but heavy aura suddenly permeated the air.
Lin Fei immediately stopped in his tracks.
"You can sense me." A tall and strong man walked forward, a gleaming small knife between his fingers. Beside him followed a young man of clean and handsome appearance, but his originally innocent face carried a somewhat charmingly nefarious air due to the frivolous aura of the man.
"Indeed, a master," the handsome man said with a smile. "Brother Minghui was absolutely right."
"Minghui? Zhang Minghui?" Lin Fei asked in surprise. The gentleness in his eyes slowly vanished and his eyes narrowed slightly, his whole demeanor sharpening in an instant. The moonlight cast on his side face gave him a chilling sensation.
"So, what business do you have with me?" he suddenly smiled. A dense aura of danger quietly spread out. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to qidian.com to cast your recommendation votes and Monthly Tickets, your support is my biggest motivation.)
