The elevator doors opened, and Luo Qi hastily stepped inside, with Yan Ling quickly following him in.

She had a premonition that the explosion might have something to do with Qi Yunjue.

He must have gone to the lab below to look for her!

Just as the elevator was about to start, however, Luo Qi stopped her from entering.

"Claire, you stay here!"

"Why?"

Yan Ling was anxious inside, but had to maintain composure on the surface.

"There’s no why. Just follow orders! Listen, in the top drawer of Miss Linxi’s desk there’s a red button. If neither Linxi nor I return from the laboratory within ten minutes, press that button. It will activate the self-destruct device!"

With that, Luo Qi closed the elevator door without another word.

The elevator read-out displayed a swift descent to level negative three.

Seeing the rapid descent, Yan Ling was itching to follow.

However, just then, a troop of hidden guards barged in.

The lead captain stopped immediately on seeing Yan Ling.

"Claire, why are you here? What happened here?"

"Get out! Without the order from the general, no one is allowed to set foot in the laboratory!"

"But..." the captain was hesitating.

"Don’t tell anyone anything about what happens here, or you will face the consequences from the general!"

Begrudgingly, the captain obeyed. He considered her as nothing more than a loyal dog to the general, but he dared not challenge the authority of the general.

Just when Yan Ling heaved a sigh of relief, suddenly a clanging sound of metal hitting the floor came from Miss Linxi’s office.

Recalling Luo Qi’s instruction about a self-destruct device, she rushed in.

Seeing the desperate figure hiding inside, Yan Ling instinctively frowned.

"Adam? What are you doing here?"

Adam’s eyes darted around as he replied, "I’m here looking for something!"

Yan Ling stared at him coldly, "This is Miss Linxi’s office. What here would you possibly need? Get out now!"

"I heard everything just now, you’re lying! The general didn’t order the guards to stay here. He’s planning to blow this place up!"

Had he not overheard Luo Qi’s plan to blow up the place, he wouldn’t have thought of fleeing.

Yan Ling sneered, "Since you’ve heard it all, I can’t let you go now."

Regret filled Adam at her words.

He had hoped to use this information to negotiate his way out.

But it seemed now that it was the most foolish decision.

Taking advantage of Adam’s momentary distraction, Yan Ling threw him to the floor and swiftly subjugated him.

Adam couldn’t move, his face was half-pressed against the cold floor and appeared slightly distorted.

"What are you doing, Claire?"

"Tell me! Where did Miss Linxi and King go? Why did the general give such an order?"

Unable to reveal her true identity, Yan Ling cross-examined Adam.

Adam saw an opportunity to bargain, "Let me go, and I’ll tell you."

Yan Ling sneered, "You can choose not to speak, but know that I can snap your neck in an instant."

Realizing she meant business, Adam hurriedly blurted out, "Negative three. King took Miss Linxi to find Wesley on level negative three!"

With her suspicions confirmed, Yan Ling roughly shoved Adam aside.

If what he said was true, then the previous explosion would mean...

The horrifying deduction made Yan Ling restless!

She ran to the elevator as fast as she could and pressed the button for level negative three.

"Claire, what are you doing? You can’t go!"

Adam called after her at the last moment.

"Why can’t I go?"

Yan Ling turned to question Adam.

Adam looked troubled as he said, "Miss Linxi set up lots of traps in the area where Wesley conducts his experiments in order to trap him! The epicenter of the explosion is near Wesley’s lab. I bet there’s nothing left down there, not even a body! "
