Luo Qi pushed his wheelchair over to Yan Ling’s front.

Selena instinctively stood in front of her, fearing that King might harm Yan Ling.

The demeanor of the man on the wheelchair darkened at the sight.

Fearing he might lash out at Selena, Yan Ling immediately, with a smile, pushed Selena to one side and stood in front of him herself.

"Did you hear our conversation earlier? You know very well who Barrett is. Can you help Selena?" she asked.

King didn’t utter a word.

His silence, however, spoke volumes of his displeasure!

Was she intentionally pushing him or simply unaware of the extent of his patience?

Was she expecting him to help her rival and solve problems on her behalf? Was she too accommodating to him?

"King?"

"The Leo Family does not belong to the Dark Empire’s portfolio. It’s impossible for the Dark Empire to offend the Underground Emperor for the Leo Family." Luo Qi answered on King’s behalf.

Yan Ling frowned upon hearing these words.

But before she could retort, she heard King say, "What Luo Qi said is correct. I have no such obligation!".

Yan Ling was somewhat disappointed. She thought King would be willing to help. Now she had no other option but to personally seek out the Underground Emperor.

She could only hope her past life-saving grace would still hold some sway.

"King, can you give me your phone..."

"Use this instead." Selena handed a new phone over to Yan Ling.

Yan Ling was momentarily stunned and did not respond.

King, who was about to hand his phone to her, looked even more displeased.

"You said your phone was broken, so I prepared a new one for you. Take it," Selena insisted, forcing the new phone into Yan Ling’s hand.

Yan Ling sneaked a glance at King and saw the displeasure etched on his face. She immediately handed the phone back to Selena.

"No need. I ordered a phone which should be delivered to me later. Just give me your phone, King."

Given the circumstances, Yan Ling’s choice of King’s phone was tantamount to her pledging allegiance to him.

This eased King’s displeasure and he handed his phone to Yan Ling.

Meanwhile, Selena felt indignant at the situation.

King was difficult to deal with.

Now, Wesley even refused to accept her phone, she could only conclude it must be due to King’s intimidation.

Damn it!

If only she were not so weak. Then maybe, Wesley wouldn’t have to lead such a restrained life.

King seemed to feel the gaze of hatred from someone and turned to look at Selena.

The two rivals locked eyes with innate hostility.

Fortunately, Yan Ling, who had moved two steps ahead to answer the phone call, happened to obstruct their line of sight, preventing any potential irreconcilable consequence.

However, Yan Ling tried calling for a while, but no one answered.

Was the Underground Emperor still asleep at this hour?

It seemed that the plans for a wedding would have to be discussed at a later time.

Just as a somewhat disappointed Yan Ling was about to return the phone to King, a frantic noise of footsteps came from outside.

Hearing the commotion, Luo Qi and Scorpion instinctively moved to shelter King and Yan Ling respectively.

The next moment, Belka aggressively appeared at the room entrance with his goons.

"Selena, have you made your decision? The grace period we gave you is over! If you still refuse to agree, we will have to resort to a family vote for direct arbitration!" he warned.

Selena swiftly moved in front of Belka, effectively blocking his line of sight to the others present in the room.

"Belka, my grandfather is still ill, and you bring these people here to cause trouble. Are you planning a rebellion?" she challenged.

"Rebellion? The old man is too old and his brain isn’t working properly. He actually thinks of handing over the family to a woman. Has he ever considered the future of the other family members? I tell you, the Leo family is not his alone to dictate!" Belka retorted.
