Yan Ling raised her hands as if she was terrified of the weapons pointed at her.

But in reality, she was quietly gathering her strength, figuring out how to disable the hands of these weapon-wielding men using the silver needle as quickly as she could.

A cold look flashed through Louis’s eyes when he heard this.

He worried Barrett might actually let him take the fallout just to keep the peace.

So, taking advantage of the moment when no one was paying attention, he grabbed one of their weapons and aimed at Yan Ling’s head, quickly pulling the trigger.

Although Yan Ling’s eyes were not focused on Louis, her body reacted ahead of time.

Just as Louis pulled the trigger, she kicked the gun pointing at her head away at lightning speed.

A loud bang echoed, the gunshot was deafening.

"Who let you shoot?"

Seeing things getting out of hand, Barrett immediately ordered his men to restrain Louis.

Idiot. If you can’t do anything, why act?

Now that such a lot of noise had been made, it was impossible to end things peacefully!

Refusing to be held down so easily, Louis wanted to struggle. But before he could act, his legs gave way and he knelt on the ground.

He was kneeling in the direction where Yan Ling stood!

Upon seeing this, Yan Ling sneered: "Oh? Admitting that you’re trash after failing to act? Kneel nicely! Kneel thrice and yell ’sorry’ thrice. I might consider sparing you from eating dog feces!"

"I’m not kneeling to you! Someone cheated me," said Louis dissatisfiedly.

Yan Ling turned around to look at Scorpion upon hearing his words.

Scorpion shook her head slightly, indicating it wasn’t her.

Then, her gaze landed on King, who was in the wheelchair.

But the man’s hands were naturally resting on the armrests of the wheelchair. It didn’t look like he had done anything.

Even so, Yan Ling’s keen eyes noticed that one of his cufflinks made of black gemstone was missing from his sleeve.

Upon closer inspection, the cufflink happened to have landed near Barrett’s foot, hadn’t it?

Seeing that Yan Ling’s gaze had also landed on the cufflink, the man’s mouth curled in a faint smile.

Neither of them spoke the truth out loud, a silent agreement shared between the two.

"Speak up! Who is the bastard that cheated me?"

Louis asked angrily, maintaining his balance to stand up.

"Who let you stand up?"

Yan Ling sneered coldly. She quickly moved in front of Louis and pressed down on his shoulder with force, forcing him to kneel again.

"Wesley, the Underground Emperor took an interest in you because you fooled him before! Let me tell you, I am the private doctor hired by King. If you do anything to me, King’s Dark Empire won’t let you off! Do you really naïvely think that your disabled friend there can help you against the Dark Empire?"

In order to save face, Louis dared to say anything.

But after he had voiced those words, the whole place suddenly became deathly silent.

Even Yan Ling let go of her pressure on Louis’s shoulder and took two steps back.

Louis thought his threat had worked.

Standing up, he laughed arrogantly: "Wesley, is this all you have? Your arrogance is only because you have the support of the Underground Emperor, isn’t it? Now that you know I have backing too, are you scared? I’m telling you, King is very brutal. You won’t end up well if you anger me. But I am a generous person.
