Yan Ling was in the process of interrogating the three fiercely tied thugs, about the whereabouts of Black Python.

As she looked over her shoulder to see Qi Yunjue walking towards her with a weapon in hand, the expression on her face froze abruptly.

The man was coldly holding a gun, the murderous intent in his dark eyes more intense than the night itself. As he glanced at the three thugs, there wasn’t a shred of human emotion in his gaze.

When Yan Ling saw Qi Yunjue like this, she couldn’t help but remember the scene she saw overseas in her first year of living abroad.

The sky full of blood haunted her dreams for a long time.

Yan Ling was utterly stunned, and remained silent for a long while.

What exactly did Captain Tan say to him?

How had the murderous aura that had finally dissipated not only not dissipate, but instead become denser?

Seeing her pale face and her hastily concealed look of fear, the aura radiating from the man grew even more terrifying!

"Do you find the current me very scary?"

After asking, the man’s danger-steeped eyes met hers.

That single look almost scared Yan Ling out of her wits!

Driven by the instinct to survive, Yan Ling hurriedly shook her head, "Not scary, not scary at all."

But her explanation didn’t make the man’s expression any better. Instead, it grew more terrifying.

His frost-filled eyes mocked her,

The hairs on Yan Ling’s scalp stood on end.

The girl’s pitiful complaints seemed to melt the icy rage inside the man, allowing her to lead his hand as she complained.

Seeing that he didn’t seem as cold as he was before, Yan Ling’s heart eased a little.

Suppressing her fear, she locked eyes with his dark-as-ink eyes.

"Qi Yunjue, no matter what happens, I’m going to stand firm by your side. Stop trying to push me away!"

Yan Ling was still a bit uneasy. She knew something must’ve happened for Qi Yunjue to suddenly alter his face, and push her away so aggressively.

His aim was not to frighten her but to make her see his true self when he lost control and then flee.

"Stop thinking of me as fragile. Even if your enemies are terrifying, I won’t fear them!"

Yan Ling confessed that when she saw a side of Qi Yunjue she had never seen before, she was subconsciously frightened.

However, that didn’t mean she would waver in her feelings for him.

Her words managed to soothe the previously emotionally unstable Qi Yunjue.

He silently watched her, and when he was sure that she had no intentions of backing down, the violent, blood-thirsty aura radiating from him was almost immediately appeased.

Once his rationality returned, Qi Yunjue sighed silently.

He put down the gun in his hand and reached out to touch the girl’s face, full of stubbornness and fearlessness.

"I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have yelled at you."

Yan Ling pouted.

"I forgive you this time! But it’s just this once, and there won’t be a next time!"

At her words, his eyes filled with love and, making a solemn promise, he replied with a serious, "Mm."
