Chapter 247: Chapter 246: What a Coincidence!_1
Yan Ling had suspected that the ticket sold by the scalper was a fake.
But surprisingly, not only was it genuine, but it was also in the best viewing location in the auditorium.
She happened to ask a person sitting next to her. The person told her that the tickets for these spots usually went for no less than five thousand each!
So, the two tickets would cost over ten thousand.
By this calculation, she had actually made quite a profit!
Yan Ling regretted not being more generous and giving the ticket scalper a bit more money.
If his bedridden grandmother and his grandfather with a broken leg found out that he had sold tickets worth over ten thousand for just a little over three thousand,
would they break his leg?
Feeling sorry for him, Yan Ling decided to compensate him for the ticket price.
Yet, the previous transaction record had mysteriously disappeared!
If her bank account hadn’t decreased by a little over three thousand, she would have thought she was seeing things!
Could it be that the transfer system had bugged out?
It was the only reasonable explanation!
Trying to spend money and failing to do so, Yan Ling didn’t know whether to consider herself lucky or the ticket scalper unlucky.
Yan Ling decided that after the performance, she would look around nearby to see if she could find him to make up for his loss.
While Yan Ling was lost in thought, the performance on stage had already begun.
Though not particularly a fan of Peking Opera, she couldn’t help but admire Master Li Qiusu, who at the ripe old age of ninety, could still perform "Three Applause" as Wang Baochuan so brilliantly.
She really was a national treasure!
"Three Applause’s" dialogue and singing truly were difficult.
And Master Li Qiusu was eighty years old.
For her to portray the traditional opera so perfectly under such taxing circumstances was quite an achievement.
Completely absorbed in the performance, Yan Ling only came back to herself once the piece was over, to find her opera-loving grandmother in tears.
"Grandmother, what’s the matter?"
"Nothing, I was just too engrossed in the performance and couldn’t help myself! Let’s go, let’s head home!"
Saying this, Lady Hao Lian wiped away her tears and tried to get up,
but perhaps due to her overly emotional state, she wasn’t able to do so.
Seeing this, Yan Ling quickly helped her grandmother up.
Just when they planned on leaving the theater with the rest of the audience, they heard Master Li Qiusu exclaim in surprise from the stage, "Lan Ying, is that you, Lan Ying?"
Yan Ling distinctly felt a tremor run through her grandmother’s body when Master Li Qiusu called out her name.
Before Lady Hao Lian could respond, Master Li Qiusu had hurriedly descended from the stage, and embracing her, she lightly pounded her back in a way children complain, "After all these years, you’ve finally decided to step outside!"
Lady Hao Lian wasn’t surprised by Master Li Qiusu’s outburst and a rare smile appeared on her face, "After all these years, my junior is still as candid as ever."
Yan Ling was a bit taken aback.
Turns out, Master Li Suqiu was her grandmother’s senior in theatre!
What luck!
Master Li Qiusu chatted with Lady Hao Lian for a long time, only releasing her hand reluctantly when someone called for her.
"Sister, we met by such a chance coincidence, let’s join the reunion of a few old friends from the cultural group later!"
Lady Hao Lian wanted to refuse, but Li Suqiu clearly knew her well, "Don’t say you don’t have the time, as an aloof woman of high rank, don’t tell me you don’t even have time to eat? If you don’t go, it means you don’t respect me!"
With Li Suqiu putting it this way, Lady Hao Lian had no choice but to agree.
Thus, Yan Ling, a young woman in her early twenties, found herself reluctantly participating in the cultural collective reunion for seniors!
