Chapter 157: Error

So he’s like your puppet. Kyle asked staring at the mimic void of any life. He was a bit bummed out he didn’t get the kill but still he was happy and proud for his parents.

Puppet? Ron stuttered with a confused look scratching his head a bit.

He.. no puppet. He.. slave. Xia softly giggled in a distorted manner.

Slave.. even better. Kyle sighed a bit frustrated at himself.

Since becoming a demon he’d thought he was invincible with Lilith by his side. But only when he’d lost everything did he realize he was indeed the biggest fool.

But like always the universe gave him a second chance with the assistance of his demon wife transporting him here. And as if that was enough he found a high level artifact. Which greatly aided him in his most battles back in Lumia kingdom.

But as always just as life had it’s ways of giving him second chances so did it take it away from him. And kick him while still down.

[Don’t tell me you’re jealous of your parents?] Snow teased making Kyle grunt more puffing his cheeks.

Using his enhanced vision and snow’s help, he navigated his way out from the hall. Which immediately disappeared like it was never there arriving here.

Bringing out the map the images slowly of where he’d been slowly appeared on it along with the names on top.

That’s new it’s like the map is updating itself. He thought not seeing these there before. He didn’t know how and didn’t really care much but still. It was a great help he needed to turn to in times of situations like this.

So we’re still in sandhill Castle. He sighed in relief glad to know they weren’t lost or magically shifted from Lumia kingdom.

And it says here we just passed the hall of deceit. He read out loud seeing the exact picture of the hall in the map. And a little bit up he could also see two more of the sub locations.

The next being a labyrinth of reflection and the last being the lair of the fallen.

Isn’t this my lucky day. He sarcastically said rolling his eyes. When embarking on this journey he knew he was in a time of his life.

But never had he expected to encounter all the surprises he did. The best being reuniting with his parents and finally seeing Lilith in hell.

I’ll name you grim. Xia spoke in a rather excited tone earning a side glance from Kyle.

And I thought I was crazy.

[Maybe it runs in the family.] Snow playfully spoke to which Kyle simply laughed over. Walking some more they could see the exit to the dark prison in front.

Reaching the mimic in no time he slashed at his arm. But the latter intercepted his attack countering it by shifting his body just in time. Twisting and sending out a kick to Kyle’s gut. Gritting his teeth Kyle stomped his foot to the ground stopping him momentarily.

I can’t afford to distance myself from him. The latter inwardly thought not giving up and continuing in his attack.

You don’t learn do you. The mimic frowned a second flaming whip appearing in his left hand. Which he didn’t hesitate to forcefully swing at Kyle.

Jumping to the side Kyle avoided the first strike but he wasn’t safe there. As the mimic continued on releasing a barrage of multiple hits.

Bang bang bang!

Each time the flaming whip hit an object it made small bang noises. With sizzling sounds and sparks if flames.

His fluid with the whip just like falcon. Kyle thought deflecting the whip with the katana. The force made from it was equivalent to a trailer ramming into a building.

Looking for options the whip was struck straight at his head. Leaping from spot he landed on a pillar, just in time as the attack created a small crater.

Stop running! The mimic yelled in frustration stomping his foot shooting upwards. With the whip in hand he swung it at Kyle.

Who’s the fool now? A sly smile tug to Kyle’s lips letting himself fall. Seeing this the mimic was surprised at first but continued with his attack.

[Shadow walk activated!]

Before the mimics eyes Kyle’s body turned into a shadowy figure. Passing through the flaming whip, but not without a price.

[-10hp]

It was a sacrifice he had to make. Seeing no other way to manuever the flaming whip without suffering severe backlashes.

Thud! He softly landed besides the entity writhing in pain. Quickly using the frozen katana to attempt to cut the whip.

Get away! The mimic roared descending downwards slashing the whip at Kyle. Stretching his left hand he shot out a dark ball with spikes. Heading fast and clashing with the whip at midair.

It cancelled my skill? There were hints of shock lingering in the mimic’s eye seeing his flame whip dispelled by Kyle’s hit.

Bam!

But he didn’t have time to think as dark chains potruded out of thin air moving with life straight for him.

I can’t be beaten. He frowned another flame whip materializing in his hand. Which he didn’t hesitate to use furiously slashing at the chains destroying them.

But it didn’t matter cause more dark chains appeared from thin air to replace the fallen ones.

Argh! The mimic grunted as a dark chain wrapped around his left leg. Swinging the whip he destroyed it but another wrapped around his other leg clinging deeper into his skin. Pulling him down crashing into the ground making a small crater.

Along with other chains wrapping around his body pinning him down. Draining the life from him slowly and painfully.

It’s working. Kyle thought seeing the ice buff from the frozen katana finally having an effect on the whip. Slowly freezing it with just the right amount of ice to enable the entity break free.

Roar! The creature roared already up on it’s feet loose from it’s bondage. Ignoring Kyle and instead swiftly making it’s way to the mimic.

Pouncing on the wrapped individual furiously swiping it’s claws at him.

How is this even possible? Kyle stood in awe, watching the creature dissemble the dark chains with ease.

He didn’t think it was possible to break as even the mimic himself struggled with it once caught. But the entity effortlessly tore through it like a hot knife through butter.

N-no you can’t - giving him no chance the entity stabbed it’s two claw hands into the mimic’s chest. Some black goo transferring into the mimic’s body turning him completely black. With dark hollow eyes and black veiney like substance running along his neck.

[He died just from getting in contact with it’s toxins. Incredible..] snow abruptly spoke.

She had been quite during the fight and Kyle could tell she was just as intrigued as him.

Grr.. the creature let out a low growl abruptly stopping. Swiftly lifting his head and turning, it’s white eyes locked to Kyle’s.

Shit it felt my stare. Kyle inwardly cursed knowing he was caught.

Dropping the lifeless mimic the creature then slowly started walking towards Kyle. Tilting it’s head in a coordinated motion as if recalling something.

M-mom? Dad? Are you there? He called out slowly taking some steps back. The katana was in his hands but he knew he couldn’t compete with this monstrosity. Even if he transformed into his demon form.

Leaning up against a wall Kyle prepared himself if a fight was going to occur.

I can’t feel any negative energy coming from it but still, I can’t take any chances.

Lifting the katana up he pointed it to the incoming creature. As a warning sign to halt which the creature ignored. Still walking to him with curious eyes.

That’s it. Now just 3 meters apart he swung the frozen katana at the beast. Which was easily stopped, caught with just a hand.

Reaching out the creature gently tapped Kyle’s head. Softly brushing his ruffled hair with it’s hand.

K-kyle.. it muttered in a distorted voice forming a creepy smile.

Phew.. I thought I had lost you guys there for a minute. He sighed in relief glad to know his parents were still in there.

Calmly walking over to the mimic Kyle could tell he was truly dead. Not feeling a pulse or heartbeat. But still he had a sickening feeling the latter wasn’t truly dead.

Too bad I didn’t get the kill. He sighed a bit disappointed his parents killed the mimic. He knew he would get insane rewards from killing this foe. According to the system logic which was the stronger the opponent the greater the rewards.

[Check his heart for a core.] Snow blurted out stopping Kyle in his tracks.

A core? I know all living things had one but aren’t the possibilities usually very rare?

[They are but in most cases higher beings tend to develop cores faster than lower beings.]

Crouching down he carefully made a cut with the katana. Inserting his hand into the dead man’s chest. Searching a bit he ucane up short.

Guess even he wasn’t that far advanced to develop a core. Shaking his head Kyle turned about to leave seeing the creature had now reverted back to his parents.

Weird.. I didn’t feel anything. He thought not feeling an aura, a change in air. Nothing at all from his parents reverting back.

We.. go? Xia was the first to speak to which Kyle nodded.

Come. She gestured and like a command the dead mimic got up to his feet.
