Chapter 149: Chapter 149: Is Baobao Going to Have a Mommy?

Ji Rui was holding a glass of wine while drinking, and his face turned cold upon hearing the comment. His hand paused, and the wine stopped by his lips.

"Why the hell are you thinking about someone else’s wife!"

After saying that, he slammed the wine glass down, stood up abruptly, and stormed out!

Inside the private room, the atmosphere went silent in an instant. Zhuo Jiarui and a few other childhood friends looked at each other in astonishment.

"Young Master Zhuo, how did you offend Brother Rui again?" Mr. Deng stared at Zhuo Jiarui fearfully, deeply worried that Ji Rui’s wrath might spill onto him, especially since he had an upcoming collaboration relying heavily on the Ji Family.

With the Ji Family’s vast and diverse industry ventures, the others found themselves in the same boat as Mr. Deng — having no choice but to flatter and appease Ji Rui cautiously. As such, they all looked to Zhuo Jiarui hoping he would clarify that it wasn’t their issue, so they could enjoy themselves with peace of mind.

"Relax, it’s not about you guys." Zhuo Jiarui waved his hand, scruffing his hair with great irritation.

They hadn’t heard the conversation between him and Ji Rui, even if they had, they wouldn’t understand the simple dialogue, and naturally couldn’t grasp Ji Rui’s mood at the time.

And Zhuo Jiarui himself couldn’t fathom exactly how he had offended Ji Rui.

In fact, even Ji Rui himself couldn’t figure out where his murderous rage was coming from!

Like an impulsive fool, he stormed out of the private room and stumbled into the elevator like a headless fly, aimlessly pressing buttons, but instead of the lowest level parking garage, he pressed the highest floor.

In a fit of impulsiveness, he stormed to Liyin originally to simmer down, but the wicked fire within only burned fiercer. Coupled with the suffocating frustration earlier making him want to spit blood, the flames rushed through his organs, burning him inexplicably anxious!

Someone else’s wife you think about like that!

These words of Ji Rui seemed directed at Zhuo Jiarui, but in reality, they were reprimanding himself!

Logically, should he not wish her well, since Le Tong found a good partner, as her superior?

Moreover, hadn’t he been cautious about her before, worried she might make some inappropriate moves to provoke him? Now, she found a steady provider ensuring she’ll no longer trouble him, isn’t it a happy occurrence for him?

Yet, damned if he wanted to bless her; he didn’t see it as something joyous! All he knew was thinking about it made him want to curse!

For these confusing feelings, Ji Rui couldn’t trace their origin, and once again got entangled in his own thoughts, stuck and unable to move!

The building housing Liyin was the tallest in R City, tens of floors high, with the roaring north wind seemingly capable of blowing a person into the sky from its top.

Ji Rui clung to the iron railings of the guardrail, looking up at the sky as dark as a black hole.

Ji Rui considered himself someone who could control his emotions well, able to swiftly sort and relieve even his greatest troubles and conflicts.

If relief wasn’t possible, he’d find a way to vent.

Yet, now his wicked fire and suffocation couldn’t be eased or relieved, nor could they be vented.

His purpose at Liyin was merely to satisfy primal desires, thinking that as a man, he could easily find a woman to vent this inexplicable wicked fire.

But upon arriving, he realized he was wrong, terribly wrong, extremely ridiculous.

Those two women, despite their pure appearance, couldn’t camouflage their materialistic nature, and the thought of such women sickened Ji Rui!

The wind was fierce, Ji Rui could feel his hands clutching the iron rod freezing into icicles, and his body chilled to the bone by the biting wind.

Yet the fire within him, making him unbearably restless, still burned through him, seemingly unstoppable unless it turned his heart and lungs, all his organs, to ash.

Is it necessary to have her to extinguish this wicked fire within him?

The phone in his pocket rang several times; Ji Rui ignored it, not even taking a glance.

After standing on the roof for about half an hour, realizing staying meant only paying money for discomfort, Ji Rui decisively took the elevator straight down to the parking garage.

He instructed Driver Li to settle all the bills for everyone in the private room, and then let Driver Li drive him away from Liyin.

Along the road, spotting a still-open dessert shop with a sign "Signature Soup Dumplings," Ji Rui suddenly remembered an occasion when Le Tong bought dumplings from this shop for him; his stomach growled appropriately.

Driver Li quickly returned with two steaming bags of soup dumplings, and the master and servant enjoyed them fragrantly in the car.

Ji Rui, having been chilled on Liyin’s rooftop for half an hour, felt his body had been frozen for quite a long time, but as he ate the hot dumplings, his body gradually warmed up.

Ji Rui’s attention shifted considerably due to the food, as both his stomach and body radiated warmth, leading to his turbulence settling somewhat, though not disappearing entirely, but at least down to a bearable level.

After finishing a serving, Ji Rui sent Driver Li for a few more servings to take home for Ji Baby’s breakfast the next morning.

Around two in the morning, Ji Rui entered his home carrying the dumplings.

Casually placing the dumplings on the living room’s coffee table, he pushed open his bedroom door, only to unexpectedly find his bedroom light on and Ji Baby, who should be sleeping in the adjacent room, sitting on his big bed hugging two cats.

Ji Rui’s heart tightened, thinking something might have happened to Ji Baby, hurriedly walked over, and upon closer look, realized Ji Baby was indeed sitting but with eyes tightly shut — he had fallen asleep sitting up.

Ji Rui’s heart clenched slightly, gently supporting Ji Baby’s shoulder, intending to lay him flat to sleep.

As soon as his hand touched the baby, the little guy suddenly opened his eyes, bright black pupils shimmering like gemstones in the dim light.

"Daddy!"

Ji Baby’s crisp voice made Ji Rui instantly understand the little guy had been pretending to sleep.

Despite the late hour, Ji Rui didn’t have the heart to blame Ji Baby; big hands affectionately caressed his soft cheeks, lowering his head to kiss his forehead.

"Why isn’t Baobao sleeping yet?"

Ji Baby blinked, looked at him with a grin asking, "Daddy, did you go on a date with a pretty lady?"

Ji Rui was taken aback, a date?

A date with the pretty lady Ji Baby mentioned, who was Le Tong?

Before Ji Rui could think further, Ji Baby had already moved the two cats onto the bed, reached out to clasp his neck, hanging onto him completely, startling him with a question.

"Daddy, is Baobao getting a mommy?"
