Chapter 946: 137 Spot the difference

After the newlyweds entered the bridal chamber, there was a flurry of activity. The matchmaker surrounded the couple with a stream of auspicious words, and then it was time for the groom to lift the red veil.

Meng Liangdong, holding the weighing pole tied with a red string, was so excited his hands trembled slightly.

Underneath the veil, Mo Sanniang was even more nervous. At that moment, she actually worried whether her heavily applied makeup would frighten this foolish fellow.

"Lift the veil!" the matchmaker sang out, snapping the two out of their thoughts.

Meng Liangdong pursed his lips and lifted the somewhat shaky red veil with his hand. Beneath the veil, a radiant face was revealed. Meng Liangdong’s eyes lit up, and as the shy person underneath lifted her head, his emotions were stirred for a long time.

When Mo Sanniang lifted her head, she met Meng Liangdong’s amazed and happy gaze, felt a surge of joy, and couldn’t help but curl her lips into a smile.

The matchmaker said something else, but they were no longer listening, until a joint cup of wine was handed to them. They suddenly snapped back to reality, their hands joined, eyes locked, and they slowly sipped the wine.

"May the two of you live harmoniously and have many children."

The matchmaker uttered another auspicious wish and then gestured for the girls who had come with her to close the door and leave.

When it was just the couple left in the room, Meng Liangdong couldn’t help but reach for Mo Sanniang’s hand and tenderly called out, "Sanniang..."

Mo Sanniang glanced at him with mock annoyance, bashfully and timidly saying, "Dummy, it’s time to change the way you address me."

Meng Liangdong paused, then genuinely laughed foolishly, self-deprecatingly saying, "Look at me, I’m so happy I’m confused."

Having said that, Meng Liangdong affectionately took Mo Sanniang’s hand and placed it on his chest, using the most gentle and earnest tone of his life, "My wife, to hold your hand and grow old with you is my solemn vow. I shall never let you down."

Hearing these simple yet deeply affectionate words, Mo Sanniang felt a touch of emotion and shed tears of happiness.

Meng Liangdong raised his hand to wipe away the tears on her cheeks and, on a whim, leaned in closer.

Just as their lips were about to meet, an unusually loud creaking noise suddenly erupted, startling them both. They shivered and quickly turned around.

"Who’s there?"

Meng Liangdong and Mo Sanniang called out together.

Before their voices had faded, the wardrobe in the corner was suddenly flung open from the inside!

A person tumbled out, staggering to get up.

"Ouch! Are you trying to kill me?" Liuzi protested as he climbed up from the ground, complaining toward the inside of the wardrobe.

When he caught sight of the two stunned newlyweds sitting rigidly on the bed, Liuzi chuckled and started straightening his clothes, casually making his way to the door: "Eh? Wasn’t I outside drinking? How did I end up here? Carry on, carry on, don’t mind me."

Liuzi kept repeating "carry on" as he slickly made a dash for the door upon reaching it.

Meng Liangdong and Mo Sanniang looked at each other, completely baffled by what was happening.

Before they could utter a word, another figure suddenly leaped out from the wardrobe—Liang Zi.

Liang Zi chuckled and scratched his head before fleeing in pursuit of Liuzi, "Liuzi, wait for me, will you!"

To everyone’s surprise, Liang Zi was not the last person in the wardrobe, as Xiao Wang also emerged, clearing his throat with a cough as he walked out. Unlike Liuzi and Liang Zi, Xiao Wang acted as if he truly hadn’t seen Meng Liangdong and the other figure at all, sauntering toward the exit.

He had only taken a step when he suddenly turned back, strode to the side of the new bed, and bent over with a reaching hand.

Mo Sanniang instinctively let out a cry of alarm, and Meng Liangdong, startled, quickly shielded the bride. What was happening? Was Xiao Wang not planning to leave?

As they wondered, they heard a series of loud snoring from under the bed, the noise suddenly erupting and seriously alarming them both.

Xiao Wang, struggling to pull while grumbling resentfully, "Da Niu, Da Niu, you’re such a bull! Fell asleep after such a short time, honestly! Liuzi, Liang Zi, why didn’t you come give me a hand? Ah, so heavy!"

So there was someone else under the bed!

Meng Liangdong and Mo Sanniang watched dumbfounded as Xiao Wang desperately dragged the unrousable Da Niu out of the room. Then they looked at each other, evidently bewildered by the commotion.

"Husband, is there anyone else?" Mo Sanniang, clutching her chest, felt this wedding night would be memorable for a lifetime.

"There shouldn’t be, right?" Although he said this, clearly he was not reassured.
