Chapter 821: Chapter 822: 1960s Quadrangle Courtyard 70

Seeing Liu Haizhong’s smug expression, Yi Zhonghai really wanted to punch him, even though he wasn’t at the factory, he knew this guy had been badmouthing him quite a bit these days.

Yi Zhonghai held back and ignored him, but when he returned to the room and saw his wife packing things up, his expression turned very ugly.

Would he have to scheme so much if she hadn’t been infertile?

Now, he wouldn’t be so down and out. "It’s all you—if you had given birth to a son or a daughter, I wouldn’t be like this."

His wife continued to pack things, and although Yi Zhonghai would take out his frustrations on her when things went badly outside, it was just verbal, and she never took it seriously.

But this time was different. Locked up for a long time, Yi Zhonghai’s whole mindset had changed. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to hit her before, but he had considered his image.

What if in hitting her, he went too far and struck where he shouldn’t, and the neighbors saw?

But now, he only wanted to vent. He launched a kick at his wife.

His wife never imagined that Yi Zhonghai would actually hit her. She fell to the ground, and, of course, the dishes and utensils she was holding crashed down as well.

"You’re so useless, can’t even hold onto dishes and utensils properly."

"You’re a hen that can’t lay eggs; what use do I have for you?"

"If it weren’t for you, how would others label our family as having no future generation?"

"It’s all your fault, all your fault."

Yi Zhonghai looked at the broken dishes and, without reservation, kicked his wife several more times while speaking harshly to her.

His wife never expected Yi Zhonghai, who had previously only spoken harshly, to actually start hitting so brutally now.

"Ah ah ah, don’t hit me, don’t hit me," she couldn’t help but cry out.

Looking into Yi Zhonghai’s eyes, she felt like he wanted to kill her, which scared her immensely.

Liu Haizhong, seeing Yi Zhonghai go back, thought it was dull and was about to head to the backyard when he heard the sound of breaking dishes and utensils.

He hadn’t expected Yi Zhonghai to beat someone. He thought the man was just going to start smashing things to vent his anger.

But heading towards the Yi Family’s house, he heard the wife crying and begging not to be hit.

This really frightened Liu Haizhong; he truly hadn’t expected Yi Zhonghai to hit his wife.

"Old Yi, Old Yi, what are you doing, hitting your wife?" As Liu Haizhong spoke out, he suddenly realized what a great opportunity this was to strike at Yi Zhonghai.

"People, come, come, Old Yi is hitting his wife."

"Old Yi is beating someone, come, people, come!"

"Old Yi is going to kill his wife."

Liu Haizhong shouted with all his might, "People, come, come!"

Although everyone was chatting in the front yard, hearing Liu Haizhong’s voice, they hurried over, fearing they might be too late and something truly tragic would happen.

Of course, what’s most important is such a great gossip opportunity—they needed to be at the forefront.

Zhang Yu, hearing Liu Haizhong’s shouting, hesitated for a moment. Yi Zhonghai was always good at putting on a show, a model of morality, and always pretended really well.

Why would he hit his wife at this time? Wasn’t this just handing over a handle to be used against him?

But without much time to think, she rushed over. A spectacle was unfolding; why wouldn’t she watch?

This old guy always loved to morally blackmail others, right? Loved to show off, right? Well, now look, his charade has collapsed.

Such a major spectacle of a downfall was definitely not to be missed.

With Zhang Li rushing over, they saw a crowd gathered at the entrance of the Yi Family’s house.

"Yi Zhonghai, come out."

"Old Yi, come out." Liu Haizhong kept knocking on the Yi Family’s door, hoping he would open it.

Yi Zhonghai snapped back to reality when he heard Liu Haizhong’s voice, only to find his old partner writhing on the ground in pain.

It was then that he realized he really had hit his wife, and he hadn’t held back, "Cuihua, Cuihua, are you okay?"

Yi Zhonghai kept calling his partner’s name, but in his heart, he was really impatient.

It was just a few light kicks, and yet she dare play dead.

But now there was no choice, a crowd had gathered outside, and he didn’t know what would happen if he didn’t go out there.

He had just come out from the inside, he didn’t want to go back in again, and his reputation couldn’t take another hit.

Yi Zhonghai looked at his old partner with disgust; when the old lady gradually came to, the first thing she saw was her husband’s fierce gaze, as if looking at an enemy.

The old lady knew that some issues weren’t just emerging today, but had always been there, only well hidden by someone.

She hadn’t been completely determined before; after all, her reputation was already tarnished, so why create more trouble? If the problem was with Old Yi, it would sadden him too.

Now, seeing that look in his eyes, Miao Cuihua knew that some things had to be done. She absolutely couldn’t take the blame for crimes she didn’t commit.

Seeing Miao Cuihua awake gave Yi Zhonghai a sigh of relief. He whispered urgently, "Quick, say you’re okay."

"I want to go to the hospital." Miao Cuihua ignored his request, insisting on going to the hospital.

How could Yi Zhonghai agree? Once she went to the hospital, wouldn’t his act of hitting her be exposed?

"No way." Yi Zhonghai said coldly.

"You really won’t take me?" the old lady looked at him, "Help! Yi Zhonghai is hitting me; he’s trying to kill me!"

The old lady shouted loudly, and the onlookers outside, who were still unsure of the situation, heard her cries for help.

Yi Zhonghai had not expected his partner to disobey him, "You, you..."

Miao Cuihua glared at him fiercely, "Go on, hit me, hit me."

"If you dare, kill me."

Yi Zhonghai wouldn’t dare actually kill his partner; he wasn’t a fool. If he really killed someone, there’d be no saving him.

"What do you want?" Yi Zhonghai said through clenched teeth, resolving to just get through this crisis and then teach her a lesson later.

To let her know that he was not one to be trifled with, and he would make her regret it.

"I want to go to the hospital." The old lady shut her eyes, refusing to look into Yi Zhonghai’s eyes, fearing she might actually lash out.

"Negotiate something else." Yi Zhonghai firmly refused to go to the hospital.

"Somebody help! Yi Zhonghai is going to beat me to death; he won’t take me to the hospital!" The old lady shouted at the top of her lungs.

Yi Zhonghai trembled with anger, "Fine, fine, you want to go to the hospital, we’ll go."

"But you should know, if I’m going down, you won’t have it any easier." He couldn’t believe the nerve of the partner he supported, to be so defiant.

"My life is hard enough now, who knows how you’ll beat me in the future." The old lady knew that if she didn’t stand her ground now, her life would never be peaceful.

She might as well be strong from the start.

Liu Haizhong, hearing no movement inside, was quite anxious, worrying whether they would blame him for a misunderstanding.

Unexpectedly, the old lady actively called for help. Although he didn’t know why she spoke up, at least it seemed to be a good turn.

"Old Yi, open the door, or we’re breaking it down." Liu Haizhong saw several young men in the courtyard and called on them to break the door.
