Chapter 626: Chapter 627 Sister Like Mother 44_1
Huang Lina watched the entire process silently from the side, seeing Zhao Mei, although extremely frustrated, could only take out the household registration book.
Even though she was reluctant, she had to sign the agreement, and at that moment, she truly felt envious and jealous.
She pondered over the likelihood of her managing to do the same, reasoning that if Huang Man could do it, there was no reason she couldn’t.
After signing the agreement, Huang Man yawned, "I’m going to put away my luggage, and then we can go to the town to make photocopies of the bankbook."
Even though Zhao Mei was unwilling, she could only agree; what else could she do?
After sending Huang Man off, Zhao Mei turned her head to see Huang Lina’s envious eyes, "Don’t even think about it."
"The household registration book is impossible for you to have." Hmph, if she couldn’t deal with Huang Man, there was no way she couldn’t deal with Huang Lina.
"You’re biased," Huang Lina accused Zhao Mei unhappily.
"Biased? In your eyes, we’re always biased, we’ve wronged you," Zhao Mei retorted.
"Yes, compared to Huang Xin, we are biased," she admitted.
"But compared to your elder sister, you don’t know how much better off you are."
"Your sister started doing farm work as a child, and from middle school on, she earned her own tuition fees; what about you?"
"What have you done?"
"All you do is reach out for money all day, and you’re picky about everything, demanding nice food and clothes, even comparing yourself to your brother."
"Why don’t you compare yourself to your sister? She never complained about favoritism, so what are you complaining about?"
"You think I’m biased? Then work hard yourself."
"Your sister started working in the fields, no, even earlier, helping with raising chickens at home."
"If you say I’m biased, fine. You’ve also graduated from junior high now, and your grades don’t warrant further schooling."
"Even if you wanted to continue, like your sister, you’d have to solve the tuition problem yourself."
"You say I’m biased? Then you can enjoy the same treatment as your sister," Zhao Mei said coldly.
"While you’re at home, either do the household chores, or just like your sister, pay me a certain amount of money."
Huang Man had just given 100 yuan, considered as payment for staying at home during these days; food and drink were calculated separately.
Aaaaah, not doing chores means having to pay rent? "I have to pay to live in my own house?"
"And I have to pay separately for meals?" Huang Lina could not help but cry out.
"Yes, you say I’m biased, right?" Zhao Mei ignored Huang Lina’s cries, "Since you claim I’m biased, I’ll show you what real bias looks like."
"Also, if you want to open a store, you’ll have to figure out the finances yourself, since I’m such a biased mother."
Zhao Mei stood up decisively, "I’m going to lock up the kitchen door. If you want to eat, remember to pay."
Huang Lina watched Zhao Mei’s actions with her mouth agape, utterly stunned.
Having washed up quickly, Huang Man was preparing to rest when, unexpectedly, she saw Huang Lina storming into the room furiously.
What now? Huang Man yawned, knowing that if she didn’t listen to this complaint, there would surely be a commotion.
It wasn’t that she couldn’t handle the situation, she could just be direct and uncompromising, but seeing Huang Lina’s tearful state, why would Huang Man miss such a perfect opportunity?
"Sister, you don’t know, Mom is just too biased," Huang Lina recounted Zhao Mei’s words in a huff, looking expectantly at Huang Man.
"What’s the use of telling me this?"
"Compared to me, you’ve already had it much easier; I started learning to take care of you all when I was three," Huang Man replied.
"Whenever you guys got into trouble, I was the one who suffered."
"All the good food is always eaten by you first. Have you ever worked in the fields as you’ve grown up?"
"You tell me mom is biased, isn’t that just normal?"
"You used to turn a blind eye, now you also have to get used to her being biased."
"The more you experience, the more indifferent you become."
"You can afford to be indifferent, I can’t," Huang Lina stared at Huang Man with disappointment, "It’s because you keep giving in that everyone looks down on you."
"I won’t do like you, foolishly not fighting for myself," Huang Lina looked at Huang Man discontentedly.
"I was thinking, we could unite to fight for our rights."
"But I never expected you to be such a person," Huang Lina knew her place in the family.
Having neither money nor strength, if she wanted to make a fuss, no one would care.
Zhao Mei could easily handle her, and after thinking for a long time, she felt she should find an ally.
And that ally was supposed to be Huang Man, she couldn’t believe that someone would truly give up on that money, would endure their parents’ injustice.
But to her unexpected disappointment, Huang Man was just that foolish. Huang Lina had come with hope but left with despair.
Back in her room, Huang Lina looked at the filthy and messy space, her mood sour.
Fuming, she cursed the three members of the Huang family in her heart, yet such actions did nothing to improve her spirits.
Living at home meant working if she wanted to eat. There were meals to prepare every day and clothes to wash, it was all just a headache.
What was more, no matter how much work she did, Huang Xin and the others would take notice, they would only think she was freeloading.
After much thought, Huang Lina decided to find work outside, "Hmph, if they don’t let me study, then I won’t study."
"I won’t be like that idiot Huang Man, slaving away at home."
The foolish things Huang Man did, Huang Lina certainly wouldn’t repeat them, and thinking about where to work, she quickly had an idea.
Many from the surrounding villages had gone to work in the south; according to them, the cities there were filled with opportunities like streets of gold, making money was incredibly easy.
The more Huang Lina thought about it, the more excited she became. She was determined to become a wealthy person so that when she returned home rich and prosperous, she would see who still looked down on her.
"But what about the fare?" Huang Lina knew if she asked Zhao Mei for money, she could certainly get the fare.
But the condition would be, after earning wages, she’d have to turn it over. Huang Lina had no intention of surrendering her hard-earned money; the family was not good to her.
After much consideration, she decided that borrowing money from Huang Man was the best option.
But she had just had a disagreement with Huang Man, and now asking her for a loan, she didn’t know if she would agree to lend the money.
However, if she didn’t borrow the money from her, she didn’t know where else she could get it.
After a long time, Huang Lina made up her mind to approach Huang Man, and once she decided, she quickly started packing her bags.
She really couldn’t stand another minute in this house; she would get the money and hurry to the city to buy a ticket south.
When Huang Man woke up, she was planning to go to the small restaurant at the entrance of the village to grab a bite.
After all, she hadn’t paid for meals at home and didn’t want to cook for everyone else.
Unexpectedly, when she opened her room door, she saw Huang Lina standing there waiting for her.
"What’s up?" It must be for a favor; otherwise, she definitely wouldn’t be standing there.
"Sis, do you have any money? Could you lend me some?" Huang Lina outright asked for two thousand.
Although she didn’t know exactly how much the train ticket south would cost, more money was always better.
