Chapter 551: Chapter 552 Sister Flowers Educated Youth 69_1

Shen Jianshe stood at the exit, constantly checking his watch, "Shouldn’t it have arrived by now?"

According to the timetable, the train should have been here half an hour ago.

Shen Xiaohui caught sight of a passing staff member and pulled them over to ask.

"The train is delayed, it will take three more hours to arrive," the staff member glanced at the father and son, "What about you guys?"

"My sister went to the Northeast as a sent-down youth, and this time she got into Capital City University after taking the college entrance exams. She’s coming back before school starts to celebrate the New Year," Shen Xiaohui said proudly.

Upon hearing this, the staff member thought, a university student who was once a sent-down youth, huh? Their attitude improved a lot, "Why don’t you go and sit inside the station?"

From their looks, they didn’t carry luggage, so they probably weren’t trying to take advantage of the train.

Shen Jianshe was not a narrow-minded person; standing outside in the cold for several hours was too much for anyone to bear.

He pulled out half a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and offered them, "Thank you."

"Xiao Hui, go back and inform the family." With such a long delay, they needed to let their family know, or they would worry.

The staff member hadn’t expected such a positive response to their simple act of kindness, and felt they could get along.

They gave their name, "When you come to the station later, just mention my name to the staff, and then you can come to the duty room to find us."

Shen Xiaohui quickly thanked them and rode his bicycle home.

On the train, Shen Jie was also filled with anxiety, thinking about the train’s punctuality that could rival airplanes of the future.

Such a long delay, and she worried whether her family might freeze waiting.

Amidst all of Shen Jie’s nervousness, the train finally slowly entered the station, "Remember what we planned, one person will go down from the window, and then we’ll pass things from inside."

Since it wasn’t a major stop, they only had five minutes, so time was extremely tight.

All the way, Huo Lei had made arrangements for their arrival at the station, and as long as everyone followed the plan, they should have time to spare.

Knowing that the Shen family had no railway connections, she figured even if her father and brother came to pick her up, they would most likely wait outside the station.

She was used to gazing out the train window at the passing scenery, and now looking outside, she unexpectedly spotted Shen Jianshe and his son.

She quickly slid the window open, "Dad, Xiao Hui."

Worried that they would miss her carriage, she leaned out and waved at them.

Shen Jianshe and his son didn’t know Shen Jie’s carriage number but guessed it would be a hard seat, never expecting it would actually be a sleeper berth.

Although they didn’t understand why, they started to run after the train.

Luckily, not many people were boarding, and the train was already slowing down as it arrived.

Even though they had a slow start, they managed to catch up.

Dai Zhiqing jumped through the window, so the three of them could receive the items and also keep an eye on the luggage outside.

The others continuously stuffed the luggage out, and amidst the rush, managed to get everything and everyone onto the platform before the train whistled.

"Sis, why do you have so much luggage?" Shen Xiaohui looked at the several piles of sorted luggage, then at the luggage of others.

He was stunned; the luggage Shen Jie brought seemed as much as that of two people.

Shen Jie gave him a look, "I brought back a lot of delicious things, see if you can resist not eating them."

Hmph, he complained about carrying heavy stuff, but let’s see if he can keep his mouth shut when the food is on the table.

Upon hearing this, Shen Xiaohui thought, what? There’s food in there? Suddenly the luggage didn’t seem so heavy, "No problem, sis, no matter how much you bring."

"I can carry it all." Having worked for some days, Shen Xiaohui had been exercising and was in much better shape than before.

Looking at the frail Shen Xiaohui, Shen Jie scoffed, "Forget it."

"With that little frame of yours, just forget it." She knew the boy was running around at work every day, and keeping fit at home, he was indeed healthier than before.

But still, if he wasn’t careful, he would strain himself, and she didn’t want to push him.

"Let’s go, let’s head home sooner."

"Was hoping we could be back for lunch, but now, it’s going to be dinner," Shen Jie said as she and Shen Jianshe shared the luggage.

"You help Feng Dan with her luggage." Although her luggage was a bit more, the two of them could still manage it together.

So everyone started carrying the bags out, and their relatives gradually began gathering at the station exit.

Including Dai Zhiqing’s family, Shen Jie glanced at him, recalling what he had said about his parents preferring his elder and younger brothers.

Dai Zhiqing saw his elder brother waiting at the exit, his reaction wasn’t too thrilled, knowing why it would be so.

Weren’t they now seeing him as no longer a sent-down youth, but a university student with a promising future? Of course their attitude had become much friendlier.

Dai Zhiqing greeted his brother, and compared to his excited elder brother, his emotions were much steadier.

Everyone was heading to different places, so they said their goodbyes here, "We’ll go to Capital City together later."

Shen Jie saw Shen Xiaohui and remembered something she had forgotten, to book a train ticket for him.

But no matter, Huo Lei was still there, so she called out to him, asking him to buy an extra ticket.

Since he was already helping, one more ticket wouldn’t be an issue, and Huo Lei readily agreed.

The Zhao sisters also saw their belated relatives, and though they kept saying sorry and making excuses for being late, blaming various affairs...

Shen Jie looked on coldly, crossing them off in her mind; it was one thing to be late to pick someone up, especially since the train was delayed and they had their things to deal with which was normal.

But once they had arrived, it was obvious that the Zhao sisters had luggage in their hands, on their backs, and at their feet.

Yet, the relatives did not offer to help carry anything, demonstrating the kind of relatives they were.

"Let me help you to the station," Shen Jie had already carried some of their luggage out.

She was genuinely concerned that the two of them might not be able to manage all their luggage to the station by themselves.

Zhao Jia didn’t want to trouble her, as it wasn’t like there was no one to pick them up, but knowing her brother’s character, she could only ask Shen Jie for help.

"Dad, I’ll lend them a hand," Shen Jie signaled to Shen Jianshe to wait a moment.

"I’ll go," Shen Jianshe retorted, simply helping with the luggage to the station was something he could handle easily.

Shen Jianshe promptly picked up the heavy bags and followed behind Zhao Jia to the station.

Even upon seeing Shen Jianshe lending a hand with the luggage, Zhao Jia’s brother neither thanked him nor offered to help carry anything.

After they left, Feng Dan shook her head incessantly, "Is this how you receive someone at the station?"

"Being late is one thing, but not even offering to help, acting like some entitled young master." Of course, the last two words were whispered by Shen Dan.

Though the political situation has changed, they still needed to be cautious.

"Forget it, it’s their family matter," With the Zhao sisters not minding, there was little for outsiders to say.
