Chapter 546: Chapter 547 Sister Flowers Educated Youth 64_1
Everyone had their own goals, so filling out the college application preferences was, of course, a breeze.
What followed was the anxious wait for the arrival of the admission letters, "I hope I can be together with my brother."
Shen Jie knew that Shen Xiaohui’s score was also good, but the admission score lines differed slightly from province to province.
It also depended on the number of candidates from each province, so it wasn’t certain whether they could meet up in Capital City.
Feng Dan and her both filled out their preferences, and they were essentially universities in Capital City.
Shen Yuan, although her review hadn’t been thorough enough, still took the exam, thinking that if she didn’t have books, many others probably didn’t have them either.
It was possible that some might not have reviewed as well as she did, and by some stroke of luck, if she achieved a decent score, it was quite plausible.
However, after leaving the exam hall, she quietly adjusted her target, no longer setting her first goal on getting into university. She had already given up, even on community colleges.
Her current requirements really weren’t high; to be able to get into a vocational school and leave the Northeast would suffice.
She’d had enough of her days here and didn’t want to end up like the old educated youths, like an old Northeast farmer.
Even though she was an educated youth from a small town, that was still urban, incomparable to the rural Northeast.
In the midst of various anxieties, Shen Yuan learned of her score. She had managed to get a total of 198, a number that was quite auspicious.
The problem was that out of the four subjects, this was all she had scored, not even averaging 50 points per subject – not even a pass.
Shen Yuan stared at the score for a long time, her face a picture of disbelief. She knew she did not do well, but in her mind, passing each subject should have been no problem.
Yet reality was so cruel. How could Shen Yuan accept this? What troubled her even more was that Shen Jie had achieved such a good score.
It was more intolerable than her own score, "Impossible, how could she score so high?"
Even if during the review stage they were short on time, Shen Yuan had not stopped visiting the farm to find out about Shen Jie’s review progress.
She had clearly heard many people say that Shen Jie’s preparation wasn’t good, always hiding and not coming out to interact with everyone.
Everyone said as much, so why did Shen Jie’s score come out so well?
Shen Yuan really wanted to accuse Shen Jie of cheating, otherwise how could her score be so good?
But she didn’t dare voice this accusation. She knew how strict the examinations were and if she dared say such a thing and someone spread it around, she would be in trouble.
No matter how unwilling Shen Yuan was, she could only huff in frustration and accept the reality, "It’s not fair, why can she go to university and not me?"
Shen Yuan paced back and forth in her room, the thought of having to stay here for at least another half a year making her fume.
Wait, even if Shen Jie had good scores, what did it matter if she could just obtain the admission letter?
Although she and Shen Jie didn’t look very much alike, who would recognize her when she went to a university far away?
At this thought, Shen Yuan was elated and remembered a previous incident where someone mentioned usurping someone else’s university admission letter.
This proved that the plan was completely feasible, the only issue was that it needed to be well-planned.
Argh, "Why is she at the farm?" To successfully impersonate someone, she had to get hold of the admission letter.
If Shen Jie and she were in the same village, it might still be somewhat manageable for her to get the letter in her hands.
But now, the problem was that Shen Jie was registered as a farm candidate, meaning the admission letter would be sent to the farm. How could she get her hands on the admission letter?
At this thought, Shen Yuan’s mood sank once more. She had a good plan, but it was impossible to carry out.
Wait a minute, she might not be able to get Shen Jie’s admission letter, but could she not get someone else’s?
Shen Yuan recollected memories, recalling the other female educated youth’s scores in her room, "All of them dunces."
Each one had low scores, maybe just enough to enter a university, but not a good one, certainly not comparable to Shen Jie’s school, and her mood plummeted once again.
"They don’t even know to study hard and get a good score on the exam."
"Forget it, as long as I can leave this place, just wait for the admission letter..."
Thinking this, Shen Yuan’s mood improved considerably, and a smile crept back onto her face.
Several of the educated youth girls knew that Shen Yuan’s score was low and that her mood was down, so they avoided her these past few days.
Outsiders heard her dissatisfied yelling and vague mentions of something about not doing well on the exam, and something about an admission letter.
The girls exchanged glances, "Um..." Someone just wanted to speak up but was suddenly silenced by the person next to her, signaling for her to be quiet.
They tiptoed out of the educated youth courtyard, and then stopped at a spot from where they could see it.
One of the older female educated youth, who had also taken the college entrance exam, said, "I have a feeling that Shen Yuan may try to take our admission letters."
"I reckon that’s possible, otherwise why would she mention anything about the admission letter."
"Exactly, with her scores, she doesn’t even have hope for vocational school."
For those who didn’t even submit college application preferences, was there even an admission letter to wait for?
It became a question of what admission letter she was waiting for – or rather, whose admission letter she was planning to wait for.
"We need to keep an eye on her; we can’t let her intercept our letters," said a usually quiet female educated youth, "In my hometown, there was once a case when someone took over another’s university admission spot."
"By the time it was discovered, that person was already attending classes at the university."
No one had thought such an incident would be common, yet here it seemed possible it could happen right in their midst, and it could be their own misfortune.
The thought that they had worked hard for a long time to secure a decent score, expecting to change their fate, only to possibly end up changing someone else’s, was an unbearable reality for everyone, and their anxiety escalated.
"Right, do you think if Shen Yuan has this idea, Gao Jian might too?"
They had been a couple before, and though they had broken up, it was likely that neither was better than the other.
With some of the things that had happened with Gao Jian before, things that everyone found unbelievable, if he had already done those, then stealing the other educated youth’s admission letters was not beyond the realms of possibility.
"By the way, how did Gao Jian perform this time?" One of the educated youth suddenly realized an important detail.
Even with scores as poor as Shen Yuan’s, everyone knew what hers were, but Gao Jian’s score was a complete mystery to them.
Even though he had registered for the college entrance exam and they were sure he had taken it, no one knew anything about his score.
"It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t share his score, that just shows he has something to hide. If it wasn’t the case, why be so secretive?"
Gao Jian had always been doing physically demanding work in the village, disdained by everyone, unwilling to talk to him. Had he not scored well, wouldn’t he have shown off by now?
They unanimously disregarded the possibility that Gao Jian might have actually done well and didn’t want anything to do with them.
That guy had always said he would one day prove his worth to them, make them regret looking down on him.
Had he truly scored well, how could he not gloat?
