Chapter 467: Chapter 467 The Foolish Filial Man’s Wife 82_1

Zhao Wenjin and her group set out early in the morning the next day to head to the airport and embark on their month-long journey in Xinjiang Province.

They first traveled south, then headed north. In the span of just over a month, there was simply not enough time to take in all the stunning views. The cameras they brought were constantly clicking away.

At first, they would keep track of the film, but later on, they stopped worrying about it altogether because they simply ended up buying rolls of film by the suitcase.

Everyone was initially surprised by how relentlessly Liao Kai snapped photos. After all, film costs money, and so does developing it.

"Liao Kai now often submits our travel photos for publication, and the earnings are pretty decent," at least enough to recoup the cost of traveling.

Submitting photos for money, now everyone understood. Don’t think that just because they’re all painters or the like, that they’re aloof from worldly concerns.

They all brought home many souvenirs from their trip to Xinjiang Province, not to mention the shipped fruits and such, but Liao Kai brought back a lot of film.

Zhao Wenjin had lost count of how many times she had heard Liao Kai mutter about being able to write a long travelogue this time.

She believed it, after all, from the south to the north of Xinjiang, the food was too delicious, the scenery too beautiful.

Just by looking at the number of Liao Kai’s negatives, you could tell how fruitful this trip had been.

Anticipating that they would indulge in shopping, Zhao Wenjin hadn’t packed much for the trip.

Indeed, as she had expected, their luggage was relatively empty when they arrived, but when they left, they were loaded with large and small bags, their luggage so overweight they had to pay excess fees.

"These grapes are really delicious."

"And this watermelon is so sweet," everyone shared about the treats they acquired on the way.

Of course, stones and the like were also not spared from their shopping spree, after all, Hetian Jade is a must, and they definitely couldn’t return empty-handed.

After quite the hectic journey, the Liao Family returned home, and even the usually energetic Liao Kai felt notably tired.

But no matter how tired he was, there were still tasks waiting for him. Holding the grapes he had specially picked up, he said, "I’ll make a trip to Mom and Dad’s place."

Zhao Wenjin responded with a hum, planning to take a shower and rest properly, while Liao Jiayu did a bit of unpacking before hopping into the shower to rest.

"Oh, and pick up some dinner on the way back," there was no need to cook as everyone was exhausted.

Liao Kai agreed, asked what the mother and daughter felt like eating, and then drove off.

Upon arriving at the Liao family’s place, he was startled to see Liao Jun’s wife with their mixed-sex twins. It was, after all, the first time he had seen them since their birth.

They looked fairly good, Liao Kai quickly glanced over and then presented the grapes he brought, "Just got back from Xinjiang Province, brought some grapes."

Liao Daqiang had thought Liao Kai returned earlier and just hadn’t visited, but it turned out he had been traveling until now, "Aren’t you working?"

"I had taken a leave of absence without pay," Liao Kai calmly stated, planning to travel with Zhao Wenjin from now on.

He hadn’t expected to be so shameless, not going to work but instead gallivanting around with his wife.

Liao Daqiang knew out of the three children, Liao Kai was the least career-driven, but at least he used to have a job.

Nobody expected his son to give him such a shock, "Foolish boy, you’ve really lost your senses."

"At least with a job, you’d have an income. Without it, are you really planning to live off your wife?" Zhang Zhaodi was very angry.

"You haven’t forgotten that your wife can divorce you just like that, have you?"

"What will you do then?" Zhang Zhaodi looked at him with disdain.

What to do? "I have an income as your son, and it’s not like I don’t earn money when I go out to play."

"What do you earn money from?" Zhang Zhaodi asked with clear irritation.

Liao Jun’s wife knew all too well that her brother-in-law was infamous for being a freeloader reliant on his wife’s money, yet unexpectedly, he was willing to forgo work just to accompany his wife on her travels.

Hearing Liao Kai claim that he had an income, she perked up her ears, curious about how he actually made his money.

Of course, she also hoped that her own brother could make some money.

These days were quite stifling for her, as Liao Jun’s attitude towards her was far from good, and he showed little respect for her parents.

One could say that he was bossy and commanding, yet she couldn’t dare protest, given that her own brother had used so much of Liao Jun’s money.

If her brother could make some money, at the very least Liao Jun would stop nagging, and her brother wouldn’t have to be idle and unskilled all day long.

"Taking photographs and writing travelogs to earn manuscript fees," Liao Kai revealed his way of making money.

Upon hearing this, Liao Jun’s wife immediately lost interest in continuing the conversation.

If it was that easy to make money, wouldn’t everyone be doing it instead of going to work every day?

Moreover, with her brother right under their noses, he often gambled away money. Who knows what he would get up to if out of their sight.

When Zhang Zhaodi heard that one could make money by traveling, she said, "How does that sound so unreliable to me?"

"Yeah, it does sound unreliable," Liao Daqiang agreed.

"That’s why there’s so much in the world you folks don’t know about." If he hadn’t truly made any money, he himself would have never believed it was possible.

Seeing their skeptical expressions, Liao Kai had no desire to explain further.

Disbelief is disbelief, no amount of explanation would help, so he just left them with, "If Xiao Jin thinks it’s okay, then it’s fine."

"Don’t worry, I won’t come back home for you guys to support me." It was only the worry about his marital issues prompting him to come back home to live off them.

"Alright, I’ve delivered the fruits, I’m heading back now." Having completed his task, he went back to buy dinner, as his wife and kids were waiting for him at home.

Liao Jun’s wife watched him leave, thinking to herself that this brother-in-law truly was a remarkable character.

Once Liao Kai got in the car, he became deep in thought. When he was talking about making money just now, he could clearly feel Liao Jun’s wife focusing intently on him, listening closely.

This puzzled him, as Liao Jun’s shop was doing quite well, and supporting the three of them – his wife and twins – wasn’t difficult at all.

Liao Jun’s wife was also a teacher, with a steady income; there was no reason for her to be so eager to hear about his methods of making money.

It surely couldn’t be that she thought his income would surpass that of Liao Jun; definitely not for that reason. It must be something else.

While Liao Jun was stingy with parents and siblings, he was indeed very generous with his wife and the twins.

The more Liao Kai thought about it, the more he felt that if there was indeed a problem, it could only be one possibility – that Liao Jun’s brother-in-law had gotten into trouble again.

Like hanging out with a bad crowd and causing trouble, or like the last time he heard about Liao Jun’s brother-in-law gambling, boasting about how it’s good to have a rich brother-in-law because "suckers have too much money."

Could it be this idiot had caused even bigger trouble this time, trouble so severe that it angered Liao Jun significantly?

Was that why Liao Jun’s wife was trying to appease the in-laws, to help Liao Jun cool off?

That wouldn’t be impossible, given that in her eyes, she had always felt marrying Liao Jun was marrying beneath her, always putting on airs.
