Chapter 358: Chapter 358 Unlucky Female Educated Youth 58_1
Watching Huang Lei continuously share her experiences, Zhang Xia found it amusing and thought to herself that she was actually the elder one, and also someone who had a bit of experience in love.
Yet, here she was, listening to a young lady with no love experience at all for advice, however, she couldn’t say it outright, as it would cause the girl to lose face.
"By the way, do you have someone you’re interested in?" This was a question that not only Wang Nan was very curious about but Zhang Xia and the others as well.
They just didn’t know how to broach the subject, but now, it seemed like a good opportunity, "Have you ever thought about dating?"
As for that, "I’ll leave it to fate."
"If it happens, it happens; if not, then it doesn’t."
"For me, what I’m most concerned about right now is how to take good care of my grandparents."
Alright, recalling what Huang Lei had mentioned before, "You’re looking for a stay-at-home son-in-law."
"Have you ever considered Zhao Aoran?" Zhang Xia asked very directly.
What? Consider Zhao Aoran? Huang Lei was stunned for a moment, then laughed, "I didn’t expect you to be interested, too."
"Honestly, I’ve never considered Zhao Aoran."
"But he got into R University," In Zhang Xia’s eyes, Zhao Aoran was genuinely a good catch.
"And he doesn’t have any dealings with the Zhao Family," Originally, Zhang Xia thought that Huang Lei didn’t want any connections with the Zhao Family.
Having been friends for several years, she knew full well that Huang Lei was someone who disliked trouble.
If Zhao Aoran had no contact with the Zhao Family, he really would be a good choice.
"I won’t choose him, regardless of whether he’s in touch with the Zhao Family or if he got into R University."
"Even if he made it into R University, even without the help of the Zhao Family, his prospects are definitely great."
"But do you think the Zhao Family will stay away once they realize he’s successful?"
"They’ll definitely want to mend the relationship with Zhao Aoran."
"However, with the estrangement over these years, they also know it won’t be easy to reconcile."
"The best way, of course, is to arrange a marriage with a daughter-in-law who stands on their side,"
"They’d be satisfied with me, not standing on their side, and my reputation isn’t good anyway,"
Zhang Xia knew Huang Lei was always a calm person, but she didn’t expect her to be this level-headed, "You really are calm."
"What else can I do if I’m not calm?" Huang Lei laughed, "Alright, let’s get off."
The final destination of this train was Capital City, and many passengers were prospective university students heading there to study.
Along the way, many had already met or found their future classmates, creating a lively scene.
When Huang Lei and Zhang Xia stepped off the train with their luggage, ready to look for the bus, Huang Dapeng had already figured out the route beforehand.
Zhang Xia followed Huang Lei with the luggage in tow. Despite feeling older than Huang Lei on the train, she felt completely befuddled upon disembarking.
The station was so large, and the crowd so thick, that even during the New Year trips home, they had never seen such a multitude.
"Are all these people university students?" Zhang Xia asked softly.
"Probably, it’s around the time for university enrollment," Along the way, you could see many people, in a hurry, carrying big and small bags, their faces showing unmistakable joy despite looking travel-worn.
Just as the two squeezed through to the exit, they saw Zhao Aoran standing not far off. Zhang Xia was taken aback, looking incredulously at Huang Lei.
Huang Lei also wore a surprised expression, not understanding why he was here.
Seeing Huang Lei, Zhao Aoran walked over and helped the two with their belongings. "I called Elder Huang to ask when you would arrive."
"So that’s how it is. But wait," Huang Lei quickly realized something was off, "how did you know my grandfather’s work number?"
She hadn’t told Zhao Aoran about it and looked at him in surprise.
"I know the business," Zhao Aoran didn’t really know, but that didn’t stop him from finding out.
"I just knew your train was arriving in Capital City today."
"Thank you." Having someone pick them up was certainly a good thing. Although she had been to Capital City many times, it was not in this era; it felt like a completely unfamiliar city.
Zhao Aoran led the two to the entrance of an alley, and Zhang Xia couldn’t help but feel that something was slightly off.
"What’s going on with you, bringing us here?" If they hadn’t known each other for so many years on the farm, she would’ve really started to suspect something.
"You don’t want to take the bus, do you?" Zhao Aoran gestured into the alley and soon enough, a tricycle emerged from within.
"Right now, everyone’s waiting to head to the school to register; the buses are packed with people."
"Although the tricycle is a bit more expensive, it’s more comfortable." Zhao Aoran reported an address and quickly negotiated a price with the driver.
Remembering the overcrowded buses they saw passing by the train station, indeed, they were filled to the brim with people.
Though the price for the tricycle was higher, at least it wasn’t crowded, and they didn’t have to transfer.
Soon, the three of them arrived at Huang Lei and Zhang Xia’s school. Since today was registration day, the school entrance was crowded with many people.
As for the ages of the new students, some looked to be barely in their teens, while others had faces etched with the hardships of life.
Huang Lei couldn’t help but internally remark on the wide age range of her college peers.
"Huang Lei, the Economics Department you’re enrolling in is over here." Carrying their many bags and belongings, Zhao Aoran once again proved useful, leading them swiftly to their department.
Without having inquired beforehand, there’s no way he would have known his way around so well. Zhang Xia watched Zhao Aoran leading the way ahead of them.
Were they really just friends and classmates? Which friend would be so eager to help?
Zhang Xia truly couldn’t understand; after all, Zhao Aoran wasn’t known to be an enthusiastic person, as his behavior on the farm had shown.
The only person that could ignite his enthusiasm was Huang Lei, and no one else but Huang Lei.
Better to let it slide; neither of them would admit it anyway.
Soon, the two completed their registration, and with Zhao Aoran’s help, they moved their luggage to the dormitory.
As soon as Zhang Xia and Huang Lei dropped off their luggage, they started cleaning. No telling how long the dorm had been unused, but now that it was theirs, it was relatively dirty.
There was also a particular smell that necessitated opening the windows to air out the room, causing Huang Lei to sigh resignedly in her mind.
Zhao Aoran quickly went to the school’s supply store to gather the quota of supplies meant for them.
In no time at all, Zhao Aoran arrived with bags of items.
Efficiently sorting them into two piles, a roommate nearby saw this and asked, "You can buy thermos flasks here, do you need tickets for them?"
"No need," Zhao Aoran replied, "just show your admission notice, and you can buy a set." He had registered at his school the day before, so he knew a thing or two about the process.
"And for watches, no tickets needed either. Although the quality isn’t as good as some established brands, they’re fine for telling the time."
Upon hearing this news, everyone was eager to go buy one immediately.
In the north, without a thermos during winter, life can be quite unbearable.
Whether a watch was necessary or not depended on personal choice.
For Huang Lei, a watch was clearly essential to better manage her time.
Of course, Zhang Xia bought one too, having saved up some money over the years working on the farm.
