Chapter 187: Chapter 187: Brother-in-law is the Ex 87_1

Huang Lixin saw the expression of the leader and knew that his choice was not wrong; someone was already eyeing his position.

As for not mentioning it before, wasn’t it just the fear of people gossiping behind his back?

Huang Lixin was not articulate, but he had already discussed with Zhang Xiaoya how to proceed.

Actually, if it weren’t for Huang Lei’s self-destructive behavior, Huang Lixin could have used his step back to let the leader arrange work for Huang Lei.

But now he didn’t want to consider Huang Lei at all, after all, even if she did enter the workforce, so what? Could her temperament really fit in there?

She simply could not fit in; knowing she wouldn’t do well, who knew how many people she would offend? Better not to go to work at all.

Especially since she wanted to go abroad to study, it was even less likely she would stay here to work. In any case, he could not delay her future.

Huang Lixin’s leader was not too surprised that he didn’t request to sort out Huang Lei’s job, as the girl’s schemes had spread anyway.

Although that girl was targeting Huang Lixin and his wife, if she could treat her own parents like that, how could she be good to her colleagues?

Especially considering Huang Lei’s previous work performance, they were aware of it, and knowing this, they were even less willing to have her work in the unit.

Huang Lixin didn’t bring such a troublesome person to the unit, and of course they were grateful.

The leader added a bit more to the originally discussed compensation, and kept assuring that the previous benefits would not be reduced.

Huang Lixin thanked the leader repeatedly, and just like that, his role in the unit underwent a change.

Zhang Xiaoya saw off the leader and returned to the hospital room, only to see Huang Lixin staring out of the window, "Old Huang."

"Sent them away?" Huang Lixin spoke softly, "I never thought I would leave the unit at this time."

Although he wouldn’t have to go to work and should focus on recovering, his salary and benefits remaining the same bluntly told him he was a waste, a complete waste.

Zhang Xiaoya knew Huang Lixin’s sorrow. She walked over to him, gently holding his hand, "It’s alright, you still have me."

Huang Lixin hummed, "Let’s move, move to a different house."

Move to a different house? Zhang Xiaoya really didn’t want to move. She had put in a lot of effort to decorate their house, all because it was meant to be the home where they grew old together.

Unexpectedly, the house they had lived in for just a few years, now they had to move.

"Move, the feng shui, the feng shui is bad." The more Huang Lixin thought about it, the more he felt that since moving into the new house, things had really gone awry.

All other issues could be tolerated, but the main point was that he was now seriously ill, and then had to leave his position; it definitely was not a good sign.

"Only, me, us." With a new house, there would be no Huang Lei. The current Huang Lixin truly did not want to see Huang Lei.

This child was really like a jinx; anyone who got involved with her got no good out of it.

Zhang Xiaoya also despised Huang Lei, "Alright."

"Not living with her."

"So she can’t hatch schemes."

Huang Lei knew about the plot she had concocted that day, which Zhang Xiaoya and a few relatives had overheard. At first, she was truly panicked.

But gradually she stopped panicking. Since they had heard it, there was no good explanation; she was that kind of person, and there was no need to care about what others thought or felt.

Zhang Xiaoya and their opinions, Huang Lei knew they must be very angry, thinking of her as an ingrate, and she admitted she was heartless.

It was clear that they had promised to send her abroad for further studies, yet they had gone back on their word. It was they who had been excessive, and if they had continued to send her abroad, she would never have acted like this.

Didn’t she want to treat her parents well? To let relatives know she was a person of promise, a filial child?

She truly hoped it could be that way, but there was no helping it. Everyone was pressuring her so, and she had no choice but to respond in kind.

The more Huang Lei ruminated, the angrier she became. As she looked at the group’s criticisms and dissatisfaction directed at her and the various praises heaped upon Huang Jing, she really wanted to lash out and curse at them.

They had all been so eager to suck up to her before, but now they had switched their flattery to Huang Jing. Did she even acknowledge them?

Regardless of how much they praised Huang Jing, she hadn’t shown herself, which clearly demonstrated her attitude.

Huang Lei cursed these opportunistic people thoroughly in her heart. Hmph, they looked down on her now, but there would come a day when they would regret it.

After venting her frustration, Huang Lei considered the money she had on hand and couldn’t help but burst into tears.

With such a small sum, what could she do? Study abroad? She couldn’t even afford the most basic agency fees; there was just no way she could pursue her studies overseas.

Let alone the larger sums of money needed once abroad.

The more Huang Lei thought about it, the angrier she became. "Liars, all liars," she seethed.

"They said everything at home was mine, yet they’re unwilling even to send me abroad."

"Outrageous, just outrageous." In her rage, Huang Lei smashed everything she could find in the house.

Hmph, she couldn’t smash her own possessions without money to replace them. But it was different with the household items—if something broke, someone would replace it.

When Zhang Xiaoya came back to pick up some clothes and saw the mess in the house, she said nothing.

After all, the valuables were already taken, and now she just took the bags and clothes she had bought with her.

And those helping to pack were relatives from the family who already knew about the incident that day, so there was no need for secrecy.

Seeing the sudden appearance of Zhang Xiaoya and others, Huang Lei was startled and dared not look at the messy house.

She braced herself for a scolding, but to her surprise, Zhang Xiaoya merely glanced around before directing people to take away what needed to be packed.

Everyone knew that Huang Lei was not one to enjoy household chores, being quite lazy. Yet, they had never imagined a decent girl could reach such levels of indolence.

To say the house stank was an understatement, and they found it unbearable to stay any longer; it was incomprehensible how that girl could have persisted in such conditions.

Zhang Xiaoya couldn’t be bothered to speak with her. If someone chose to live like this, what more could she do?

Soon after everything was packed, they left just as quickly as they had come.

Huang Lei stood stunned as she watched Zhang Xiaoya and the others leave so abruptly.

"Mom, what are you doing?" All her and Huang Lixin’s clothes and other items had been packed up, giving the impression that they weren’t coming back.

Despite her disdain for them, Huang Lei had never thought of separating from them. Now, without money, she could only rely on Huang Lixin and his wife.

"Your dad needs rehabilitation. For the sake of his health, I’m renting a place near the hospital," she was told.

Once they had left, Huang Lei wondered what would become of her if Huang Lixin and the others were renting a place outside. What about her expenses?

Mainly, what about her own spending? These days, she had been living off her savings.
