The village head and his wife who returned back to the village after Yanzhi and Xiao Ling left the restaurant, were very furious with the Jun family’s shameful action in the county. The village head felt like the Jun had slapped him in the face and disgraced him as the village head of the village. Jun Xangren who was waiting anxiously in front of the Jun family’s house waiting for his father and the rest to hear the results from going to accuse Yanzhi and Xiao Ling of being unfilial in front of the whole county folks, ran quickly to meet them when he sawing them approaching the house looking annoyed. Father Jun sneered at him when he saw Xangren approached and walked away without saying anything to Xangren, Xangren was baffled when his father gave him an angry look and walked away without saying anything to him.

He hurried to his mother and grandmother confused as to why they returned home rather looking shabby and unhappy. "Mother what happened? Where you able to get some silvers from eldest brother? Surely the people in the county wouldn’t let Yanzhi be when accused of being unfilial?" he asked in haste. Grandma became more angry when Xangren asked making her recall of the events that happened in the county, she was really unhappy that the people listened to Yanzhi’s words over hers.

What, didn’t we take care of him? if it wasn’t for my son would that unfilial grandson be brought to the world...bah!..." she couldn’t hide away her resentment as she talked about it yelling, seeing that people were begining to surround them Du shi quickly stopped her from saying more outside of the house "mother it’s not good to discuss here, let’s go in first" Du shi urged and pulled her by the hand into the house, the rest followed in and put on the lock.

Before Xangren could say or ask anymore questions, a stick landed on his back very hard making him yelled out in pain as father Jun hit more. "Father stop hitting, father why are you hitting me?! Mother, grandma help me! Stop father!" he cried out rolling on the floor. The rest stood there, aghast as father Jun hit Xangren with the stick mercilessly, Du Shi who regained back her senses quickly ran to stop father Jun with a dreadful look.

"Family head why are you hitting my son with a stick?" she stood between father Jun and Xangren asking in ire, the rest who were so shocked and were in daze also regained back their senses. Zhao Shi ran to her husband and squatted down seeing him coiled up on the ground with blue and black bruises "ahh~ husband! husband are you okay. My father-in-law has beaten my husband to death!" she howled bringing Xangren to her laps.

"You woman shut up! If it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t be in such a mess!" Father Jun pointed to Xangren furiously as he tried to pried Du Shi away and go beat him up again with the stick. Du Shi didn’t give him a chance as she stood firm between them and father Jun with her hands opened ajar blocking. "What do you mean it’s my son’s fault, isn’t it that your unfilial son with that woman who disgraced you publicly! That ungrateful evil star blaming people for having him work, can’t he do some small work when I’ve taken care of him even when i wasn’t the one who birthed him?! If you want someone to find fault with go to him, he’s the one who’s unfilial and ungrateful!" She articulated her emotions showing how resentful she was of Yanzhi.

It was no surprise that she’ll say such things since she had never cared for or loved Yanzhi, but yet still she claimed to have raised him. Father Jun’s anger flared up more hearing that, he also never liked Yanzhi after his new wife gave him a son. How can he favor a motherless son and leave the son who’s mother he was gracing his favors to, but after years of watching him grow he saw how useless and a waste Xangren was. But because of Du Shi he chose to still show his care for Xangren even after Du Shi birthed the rest who were hardworking, to Du Shi Xangren was her first born son so she wouldn’t allow him to be treated badly.

After Yanzhi came back from journeying father Jun couldn’t hold back anymore, comparing Yanzhi and Xangren all the time. Yanzhi was far more better than Xangren which brought out his resentfulness of Xangren, and later Yanzhi separated from the family. He felt that the useful first born had left leaving the waste rather, if it was up to him he would rather prefer Xangren separated and Yanzhi stayed but sadly he wasn’t to decide that.

He pushed Du Shi to the ground and started pointing to her nose "You, you, you" he stuttered with saliva flying everywhere. He suddenly gasped and held his chest which felt as if it was being crushed with a heavy weight, father Jun stumbled dizzily and lost his footing. The rest panicked when they saw him about to fall, luckily Xiangyi and Xiangli along with Qian Shi walked into the house back from farming to witness that in time. They hurried to father Jun and supported him preventing his fall, Qian Shi hurriedly brought over a cup of water as Xiangli and Xiangyi helped him sit on the chair. He took the cup of water and drank it in a hurry "father-in-law drink slowly" Qian Shi said anxiously. After father Jun was okay, they finally were able to see the mess in which the rest of the family were in.

"Father this?" Xiangyi asked with shock, grandma who finally got over her dazed state when she saw her son dying hurried to him ignoring Du Shi and the rest who were on the ground. "Daqiang! what happened? Somebody go call the village doctor here!" she said anxiously instructing. "Mother I’m fine now, don’t worry it’s just a little stimulation. I’ll go and see the village doctor myself later, for now i want to rest" Grandma gave him a reluctant look but she still complied and nodded, "make sure to visit the village doctor later" she order. "I will mother" he assured.

He turned his attention towards Du Shi and Xangren who was coiled up into his wife’s embraced and hiding from him, father Jun sneered disdainfully. "Useless thing, what’s the use of even keeping you here! I shouldn’t have listened to you at all, now look at how we’ve disgraced ourselves in the county, how can we show our faces anywhere?! You should start living honestly from now, before i thinking of separating you from the family!" he warned. "Father!" the rest shouted struck by his words.

Grandma was also shocked but because it was the words of her son and he was the head, she chose to just listen and not express any thoughts, she herself saw Xangren to be a waste too. "Family head he’s our son, how can you talk about separating him?" Du Shi was desperate and bitter, but she didn’t expressed her agitations again fearing to stimulate him once more. Father Jun ignored her words still glaring at Xangren who was trembling from pain and fear, "yes father" he answered honestly.
