Chapter 326: Chapter 326: Checking Her Injuries (2)_1
The man’s force was very well controlled. It did not hurt her, but instead effectively dispersed the accumulated blood. Under his gentle hand, the cooling medication alleviated the burning pain on her buttocks.
While conducting these actions, Nangong Yi’s face was filled with solemnity, compassion, and dedication, without a hint of indecency. If there was anything, it was probably resentment towards Saknu.
He couldn’t let it go easily when his little girl was injured like this...
Cai Wei lay there, absorbing the man’s careful and considerate ministrations, her eyes tingling with unshed tears. If only this man were just an ordinary man, how great that would be...
These were her thoughts. If he were, she would have undoubtedly accepted him. The two of them could have led a simple yet cozy life, enjoying tea, observing the blossoming and falling of flowers in the garden. However idyllic and beautiful such life would be.
Regrettably, he could never be an ordinary man. He would always have to return to his unattainable aristocratic life, and no matter how moved or grateful she was, she would not torment herself by becoming one among the many concubines in his royal mansion. She could only stand at a distance, silently blessing him, and wishing him a peaceful and successful life...
"All done!"
His languid voice sounded, interrupting Cai Wei’s musings.
She looked up to see him take a plain brocade handkerchief, wiping the residual medication from his palms and walking towards the kang table.
There were several bowls of tea on the kang table. Nangong Yi picked one up and took a sip, then set it down, picked up another, and brought it to her lips.
"Here, have some water," he said.
Cai Wei, her face flushing, took the bowl, slowly saying, "I’ll do it myself!"
He had just seen and touched her in a very private place, although it was for medical reasons, it was still a source of embarrassment for her when facing him again.
Luckily, Nangong Yi did not say anything else. He handed the bowl to her and then turned and left.
Cai Wei was lying on the kang, holding the bowl and taking a sip. The water was warm and palatable.
It turned out that his earlier sip was to test the temperature of the water for her...
After all the commotion of the day, she was indeed a bit thirsty. However, she took small sips, savoring the thoughtful consideration in this simple bowl of water.
If only he was an ordinary man, how wonderful that would be!
Unconsciously, she found herself thinking this way again...
"Master, the horse carriage is here!"
Chai Feng’s respectful voice echoed in the hall.
Nangong Yi glanced at the curtain of the inner room and casually said, "Let them wait."
He then turned his gaze away, his thoughts drifting elsewhere!
Saknu, the damned Saknu...
He gritted his teeth in fury....
...
As night fell, Cai Wei was carried onto the horse carriage. To her surprise, the carriage was fitted with a small, narrow couch, on top of which a thick mat and cotton quilt were spread.
"Nangong Yi, this..."
Seeing all the thoughtful preparations the man had made for her, it was impossible not to feel moved. She stared at the cozy small couch and the warm quilt, a faint smile slowly appearing on her face. As Nangong Yi laid her on the couch and tucked her in with the quilt, he handed her a jade bottle.
"When you get back, remember to apply this medication twice daily. Try to avoid sitting down. If possible, massage the area yourself and keep it warm..."
Cai Wei lay there, quietly listening to his warm instructions, before replying after a while: "Alright!"
