Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Preparing for Participation (1)_1
The Old Turtle opened up its sleepy eyes to take a look, but noticed in the soft pink pearly glow, there were no characters.
It rubbed its eyes and took a careful look once again, but still, nothing could be seen.
"Master, what characters are you talking about? Where are they?"
Cai Wei stepped back a few steps until she was in front of the Old Turtle, squatted down, and pointed to her back: "Right here, look here! Someone used medicine to write characters on my back. Can’t you see it?"
The Old Turtle took another serious look and confidently declared: "Master, there really are no characters!"
...
Cai Wei always thought her self-restraint was excellent, but after hearing what the Old Turtle said, she still couldn’t control herself and forcefully threw up her middle finger...
"F***ing hell"
A sleepless night
In the morning, Cai Wei got up early, made medicinal decoction for her father, Mu Zhongqing, in the small kitchen of the inn, and also stewed a bowl of millennium-thick ginseng soup, earnestly serving it up.
She was pleasantly surprised that her father was steadfastly standing with them against the main household. This made her feel even closer to and more fond of him. Therefore, she paid greater attention to his health.
When Cai Wei entered, Mu Zhongqing had already gotten up and was chatting idly with Lady Du in the hall while laughing. They were discussing interesting anecdotes about their children. Wen’er and Wu’er were chasing each other around on the ground, while Fei’er was quietly doing embroidery on the side. The home was full of warmth and tranquility!
"Dad, it’s time to take your medicine!" Cai Wei walked over and handed the brewed medicine to Mu Zhongqing.
"Mmm, my Wei’er is indeed thoughtful!" Mu Zhongqing smiled, took the medicine, and nodded in approval at his daughter.
Standing in front of Mu Zhongqing, Cai Wei watched him finish his medicine before handing over the ginseng soup. "Dad, after you finish your meal, I have to go to the Baohe Hall. Are you going out?"
After finishing his ginseng soup, Mu Zhongqing took the handkerchief from his wife, wiped his mouth, and said, "I have to go and check on your grandpa. He said he’s returning to the village today, so I have to see him off."
Cai Wei thought for a moment before saying, "It’s not convenient for us to travel together. Let’s go separately."
"Okay, you can take Zhang Bo’s carriage. I can walk." Mu Zhongqing readily agreed.
Without further hesitation, Cai Wei ate her breakfast and took the carriage straight to Baohe Hall to visit Gao Sanchun and Lady Yin. Meanwhile, Mu Zhongqing walked to another clinic to visit his father and older brother.
Inside the Baohe Hall Clinic
Sanchun was using a soft cloth soaked in warm water to carefully clean Lady Yin. Lady Yin had broken ribs and couldn’t turn over or bathe. She had to eat, drink, and relieve herself all on the kang. Her daughter’s filial piety and attentive care made her suffering less severe.
"Mother, I’ve finished washing you. I’ll go get your meal."
Sanchun folded the soft cloth, helped Lady Yin cover herself with the quilt, picked up the basin, and walked out. As soon as she stepped out of the room, she ran into Cai Wei, who had come to visit them, and excitedly cried out, "Oh, Miss Mu, how come you are here?"
Cai Wei lifted the oil paper package in her hand and laughed: "On my way here, I smelled the freshly steamed buns from ’Zhang Bao Bao’, so I bought some for Aunt Yin and Sister Sanchun to try."
"Miss Mu is here, come on, please sit down."
Lady Yin was lying on the bed motioning to Cai Wei, anxious because she couldn’t personally serve the guest.
Cai Wei sat down at the edge of the kang, smiling: "Aunt Yin, don’t be so busy. You must not have had breakfast yet. Why don’t you try the buns I bought?"
