Chapter 1232: Chapter 1238: I Want to Divorce You (1)

Xiang Yun arrived at Enxi Hall with Cui Wen and Cui Lu, where Old Madame Lady Liu, Lady Wu, and Second Lady Lady Bai were all present. Xiang Yun stepped forward and gracefully paid her respects.

"Xiang Yun pays respects to Old Madame, to Lady Wu, and to Mother."

Old Madame said, "Rise, we several mothers have just returned from entering the palace. As soon as we arrived, we heard that Lady Du had a miscarriage. What in the world happened? Tell us about it."

Xiang Yun spoke calmly, "Old Madame, this is what happened..."

...

After listening to Xiang Yun’s account, Old Madame coldly smiled and said, "Quite a risky move, burning one’s boats, so desperate to rise to power that Lady Du really went all out, even capable of killing her own children. This kind of venomous snake-like woman cannot possibly stay in Duke Li Guo’s Mansion. Let alone the fact that she had a miscarriage, even if she hadn’t, we absolutely cannot allow such a treacherous woman to give birth to Mo Family’s bloodline!"

Having said that, she turned to Xiang Yun, "Miss Yun, you go back. You were wronged today, and wait for tomorrow when Grandmother gets to the bottom of the truth and lays it in front of that foolish boy, Grandmother will make him apologize to you!"

Upon hearing this, Xiang Yun’s eyes warmed, and tears rolled down as she said, "Thank you for trusting me, Grandmother. I was afraid that Grandmother might have thought like him, believing that I am the murderer of Lady Du’s unborn child!"

Old Madame said, "Grandmother has said before, though I am old, these two eyes are still sharp. Whether it was you, I can tell at a glance. Don’t worry, just go back and rest well, and Grandmother will surely vent your anger tomorrow."

"Thank you, Grandmother!"

Xiang Yun, wiping away her tears, left the room. Cui Lu consoled her, "Young Madam, please stop crying. I thought it would take some convincing to make Old Madame believe in your innocence, but she believed you right away, which is really wonderful!"

Cui Wen, who was younger and more impulsive, indignantly said, "Even Old Madame believes in our Young Madam’s innocence, but the Young Master doesn’t, only willing to trust that seductive fox, it’s infuriating!"

Upon hearing this, Cui Lu hurriedly gestured to Cui Wen, signaling her to stop talking. Cui Wen caught on, regretfully stuck out her tongue, and promptly shut her mouth.

The master and servants were talking as they walked, and upon reaching the garden, the sky suddenly began to rain. Cui Wen noticed a pavilion not far away and quickly pulled Xiang Yun towards shelter there. As they got closer, however, they saw a person sitting inside the pavilion, his head down, fiddling with a strange set of chess pieces.

"Cousin!"

Xiang Yun called out as she and Cui Wen and Cui Lu quickly ran into the pavilion.

Mo Ziqi furrowed his brows. He didn’t like being so close to others, even if it was his cousin; he detested it. Apart from Fei’er, anyone else’s proximity made him uncomfortable, so without paying any attention to Xiang Yun, he began to pack up his chessboard and pieces.

Xiang Yun ran into the pavilion and quickly noticed the odd game Mo Ziqi was playing with.

This game’s board was unlike Go or Chinese chess; it was pentagonal in shape, marked with various colored little circles, and the pieces looked like upside-down hourglasses with a small ball at the tip, likely for ease of handling by the player.

"Eh? What is this?"

She sat opposite Mo Ziqi, curiously picking up a chess piece.

Mo Ziqi’s face darkened. He disliked people being so close to him, and even more so when they touched his things without permission. Nevertheless, though he was utterly displeased, he begrudgingly gave an answer.

"Chinese Checkers!"

"Oh? Chinese Checkers? How come I’ve never heard of such a game in this world? How is it played, is it fun?"
