Chapter 1202: Chapter 1208 Old Friend Arrives (1)
Cai Wei returned to the Royal Study, took off her heavy Phoenix Crown, and felt much relieved on her head. She untied her hair, allowing her poor scalp to fully relax.
"Chun Liu, I’m going to take a nap. If there’s anything important, remember to wake me up!" she said as she took off the cumbersome Phoenix Robe and collapsed carelessly onto the couch.
"Yes!"
Chun Liu picked up the Phoenix Robe that her master had thrown on the floor, silently cursing to herself. She had known there would be a lot to deal with today, yet last night she only kept struggling through the night with the Emperor. Now her body can’t take it anymore!
Having stayed up all night again, Cai Wei was tired from wearing the heavy Phoenix Crown all morning and having a few drinks at the birthday feast. She instructed Chun Liu, dropped the bed curtains, and dove into the boudoir in Space, where she fell into a deep sleep, sleeping so soundly one might say she transited from the birth to the Nirvana of a Buddha.
Time in Space was three times longer than outside; she chose to sleep in Space so she could sleep to her heart’s content before coming out!
In the Imperial Garden
Princess Zhao Gui accompanied Cai Lian, pointing out the scenery of the palace while engaging in amiable conversation. The Imperial Garden was stunning, with various pavilions, bridges, corridors, and magnificent palatial buildings. Pine and cypress trees formed a forest, lush and beautiful, and the flowers bloomed competitively under them. Strange rocks of all shapes and grand buildings reflected in the water, making it seem as though they were the heavenly palaces of Dragon City. The landscape was like a picturesque scroll, perfectly natural, leaving Cai Lian utterly enchanted.
Without realizing it, the two reached a bridge and gazed at the orange and turquoise reflections in the water, appearing like the pavilions of Immortal Mountain. In the distance, by the waterside, they saw a pavilion adorned with beaded curtains and painted beams, green tiles on top, and decorative yellow tile edges, vibrant and splendidly magnificent.
Above, hung the large characters "Cai Yue Pavilion."
Feeling tired, Zhao Gui suggested, "Miss Cai Lian, how about we sit in the Cai Yue Pavilion for a while?"
Knowing that the other party was a princess, Cai Lian was already immensely grateful for her politeness. Hearing Zhao Gui’s suggestion, she eagerly agreed, "Yes, that sounds great, especially since we are near the Waterside Pavilion, and Her Highness can easily find us if she needs to!"
Having agreed on their plan, they walked toward the Cai Yue Pavilion together. The pavilion, surrounded by orchids, concealed the fierce scenery inside. It wasn’t until they drew closer that they noticed someone inside—a lady dressed in Imperial Decree Clothing was seated, talking to a young married woman.
Zhao Gui paused her steps and whispered as she glanced at the pavilion, "It’s the Lady of Marquis Jian’an and her daughter, discussing personal matters. Let’s not disturb them."
Cai Lian agreed, "Yes, let’s go."
They turned to leave, but suddenly heard the Lady of Marquis Jian’an in the pavilion raise her voice.
"Tell mother honestly, why haven’t you gotten pregnant after entering this family for more than three months? Has he really not even touched you?"
Xiang Yun whispered, "Mother, please keep your voice down. It’s not good for others to hear!"
Madam Wu said, "Don’t give me those useless excuses, just tell me the truth! That concubine has already moved in officially with her pregnancy. If I don’t intervene soon, you will only be neglected and fallen from grace."
"You were always so carefree at your parents’ house, without a shred of cunning—that was okay because you were under your mother’s and your elder brother’s protection. But why are you still so heartless at your mother-in-law’s house? With your background and looks, if you had been a bit cleverer, you would have been pregnant by now. Why let that concubine find the opportunity? Now, the eldest son from the second room is an illegitimate child, and if you ever have a child, he will only be the second son. Someone else has already gained the advantage. Oh, why can’t you be a bit smarter? You are really driving me to the edge!"
