It was then that Helian Qiao realized what he had said, incredulously widening her eyes, "What did you say?"

Caught off guard, a flash of panic crossed her eyes. Not knowing how to respond, she pushed him away, pulled open the art room door, and ran off without looking back!

And for the first time, Gu Tingyun did not grab her hand to stop her from leaving.

Instead, he stood there, watching her flee in a panic, a hint of crimson flashing in his eyes, and a slight smile curling his lips.

Guibao hadn’t rejected his kiss. She hadn’t shown disgust at his confession, and even though she might not understand what liking someone meant just yet, it was enough.

He would make her understand.

And the scared Helian Qiao didn’t return to the classroom but instead climbed over the wall and ran away from school to go home.

For the first time, Helian Qiao felt her heart beating in such a frantic panic. Why on earth would Gu Tingyun suddenly like her?!

It was terrifying!

After walking a bit, she realized someone was following her.

Turning around, she saw it was Shao Chenhui!

Then, turning back around, she asked with lackluster interest, "Shao Chenhui, why are you following me?"

Today, she wasn’t even interested in fighting.

"Going home," Shao Chenhui said coldly, his face expressionless.

He had followed her instinctively after seeing her running anxiously outside the window, not even sure why he did so.

Helian Qiao frowned and said aggressively, "Don’t you follow me!"

Shao Chenhui then stopped as well, looking as spirited as ever.

But after Helian Qiao had walked on a few steps, she turned back and said to Shao Chenhui, "I want to have a race with you!"

Her heart was still a bit chaotic, and she needed something to calm it down.

After a moment’s silence, Shao Chenhui said, "Okay."

The two of them stood on the same straight line on the ground, getting ready to start.

"One, two, three, run!" Helian Qiao counted down.

No sooner had her words finished than they both dashed off at once.

Shao Chenhui wouldn’t hold back; he knew doing so would be disrespectful to her!

And he was indeed running fast.

As he surpassed her, Helian Qiao gave chase with all her might, wholeheartedly determined to overtake Shao Chenhui, and her mind stopped wandering!

Over ten minutes later, Shao Chenhui stopped. His face was expressionless, his breathing smooth and steady, in no way resembling someone who had just finished running.

Two minutes later, Helian Qiao also arrived.

Her fair, pinkish cheeks were covered in a fine sweat, her breathing a little short, but she felt much more refreshed.

Shao Chenhui stood by, silently gazing into her eyes which were, as always, bright and vivacious, as if there was a fire burning within them.

Her whole being was fiery and unadulterated!

Even though Helian Qiao had lost, she wasn’t angry, only waving her hand and saying, "Shao Chenhui, I’m going home. Next time, I will surely win!"

Having said that, she walked briskly and decisively into the alley.

This was right on the outer street of their residence; a short walk through the alley would take her home.

Shao Chenhui stood still, watching for a while. Once he could no longer see that figure, he turned and ran back home in the direction he came from.
