Chapter 710: Chapter 707: Shattered Her Hopes

"Mmm, I got it." Little Chen Hao wiped the tears off his face and nodded seriously.

With his eyes and nose reddened, he looked like a pitiful little boy.

His mother and sister hadn’t left yet, and he already missed them!

Jiang Manyun’s heart ached to leave her son behind, but she needed to accompany Gu Qingshan, and couldn’t return to the capital until next year.

"Tingyun, once you’re back in the capital and have some vacation, take Guibao and grandpa out more often, take care of yourself and Guibao. I won’t say much more, I know you’re a responsible child," she said.

Gu Qingshan also said, "You’re a young man, you have to protect Guibao."

In his eyes, Guibao was just a soft, cute, little girl.

As her older brother, it was his job to protect his little sister.

Gu Tingyun responded with a low "Mmm".

"Alright, it’s getting late, and we still have to catch the train, let’s get going." Ma Xiulian, reluctantly traced Guibao’s smooth cheek with her fingers and gently reminded them.

The four of them then climbed onto the sled and set off for the railway station in town.

Dabai pulled the sled to a halt outside the railway station. Chen Jianjun lifted two suitcases from it—an one contained his and Lu Xiaofen’s belongings, the other Gu Tingyun and Guibao’s items.

He had requested a week off from work, intending to accompany them to the capital, and only after settling his wife and daughter in, would he return.

Dabai walked over to its young mistress, its head rubbing her legs sorrowfully—it knew she would be gone for quite some time.

Helian Qiao patted its head saying, "Dabai, after I leave, you are allowed to eat five extra goldfish a month."

Wolves in this world had a lifespan of around ten years and Dabai was already eleven years old—old age by human standards— and remained healthy and strong only because of the goldfish it ate.

After all, Dabai was the first follower she gained in this world, and the little princess didn’t want to lose it just yet.

"Ooo!" Dabai let out a happy howl.

"Alright, you go back." Helian Qiao instructed with an air of aged authority.

Dabai nodded and dragged the sled back.

Knowing that it knew the way back, nobody worried about it.

The group made their way to the entrance, had their tickets checked, and boarded the train.

After more than thirty hours, the train arrived at the station in the capital.

Outside the station, Lord Gu, along with Song Wennuan and her daughter, were waiting there to meet them.

"Grandpa, my brother’s train is here!" Gu Siyu called out excitedly, standing on her tiptoes to look inside. She’d heard the train’s arrival announced over the PA system outside the station.

"Mmm," answered Old Lord Gu with his hands behind his back.

Five minutes later, Gu Siyu saw her brother emerge slowly from the station and immediately waved, shouting, "Brother! Brother!"

Her smile couldn’t have been brighter.

Then, the next second, she saw Helian Qiao following behind her brother, and it felt like thunder from a clear sky!

The bright smile on her face froze instantly. She tried to comfort herself, thinking that perhaps Guibao was just visiting like before and would leave after a few days.

Yes, that must be it!

"Grandpa Gu! Auntie Song!" Helian Qiao ran up to them, calling out cheerfully.

Gu Siyu couldn’t wait to ask, "Guibao, school is about to start, and you’re still going to the capital for fun?"

She surely wasn’t going to school in the capital!

However, Helian Qiao mercilessly shattered her hopes, "I’m here to go to high school in the capital."

Gu Siyu was taken aback, "What?! You are also going to high school in the capital? That can’t be!"
