Chapter 688 - 685: Surrounded and Tracked

Chapter 688: Chapter 685: Surrounded and Tracked

Not only were the two rows fully swept out, but they were even subject to receive a bag of baby dolls on debt.

Helian Qiao was being incredibly generous, saying, "Little uncles, Dongdong and Nannan, feel free to pick whatever you like."

"Thank you, Sister Guibao!" The twins were overjoyed. One picked a Mickey Mouse and the other picked a Donald Duck.

William was also smiling and picked up a lion doll.

Gu Tingyun looked at the pile of toys on the ground — they could not possibly take all of them away.

Seeing the envious gazes from the children nearby, he suggested to Helian Qiao, "Guibao, we have too many toys and we can’t take them all. Why don’t we give them to these children?"

With her much desired toy gun finally in her hands, the Little Princess was in an excellent mood. She casually waved her hand and said, "You guys take them!"

The children were thrilled and kept thanking them.

The group had a fun-filled day. As darkness slowly fell, they headed towards the park exit and put the remaining toys in the boot of their car.

After dinner at home, Helian Qiao and the twins went to bed early.

"Tingyun, there’s someone calling for you."

He descended the stairs, walked over to the landline, picked up the receiver and said, "Hello, may I ask who you are looking for?"

A tremulous female voice came through the receiver. "I... I’m looking for Little Dragon God."

That voice belonged to Lin Mengxi.

Her voice was lower than usual, slightly trembling, and carried a hint of fear.

"Is there anything you need?" Gu Tingyun asked in a cold tone.

She sobbed over the phone. Gu Tingyun remained expressionless throughout. "I understand. Where are you now?"

After the call, he didn’t go to find Guibao. Instead, he left the house alone and headed towards Lin Mengxi’s university.

More than two hours later, he returned. There was a slight smell of blood on his clothes.

It wasn’t his own blood, but it was something he found even more difficult to bear.

With a slight frown, he quickly returned to his room, removed his clothes, and stepped into the shower. He let the hot water wash over him, his face expressionless and aloof.

No one would have thought that he had just defeated a group of tall American men, forcing them to acknowledge him as the leader.

Gu Tingyun did not turn them down.

The United States was more developed in all aspects than China, so he planned to establish his company there in the future. These guys could be considered as prearranged assistants for him.

Moreover, they could help monitor Lin Mengxi at school and prevent her from having any reason to find Guibao.

He didn’t want Guibao to worry over other people’s problems. He just wanted her to stay by his side without any worries.

Following this, Gu Tingyun and Guibao went out to play every day. After several days of tagging along, William finally gave up, sighing that the younger generation really had more energy.

Gu Tingyun then kindly suggested, "Aunt and uncle, from now on we can go out by ourselves. I’ve memorized our map, we won’t get lost."

"Sure, if adults don’t accompany you, you two will be more at ease," Gu Qingwan straightaway agreed.

She knew her nephew well — he was always measured and balanced in his actions. With him around, she was not worried.

But, she still reminded him, "Don’t come back too late. It’s not safe at night in the U.S."

"Yes, we will be back before ten o’clock at night," Gu Tingyun nodded earnestly.

Safety was the top priority.

The more places Gu Tingyun visited, the more he realized the huge economic and military differences between the two countries.

He now understood why his grandfather had suggested that he experience more of the United States.

A week later, during twilight.

When Gu Tingyun and Helian Qiao returned from their outing, the street lamps on both sides of the road emitted a bright yellow light, casting a wash of light on the street filled with rock singers performing their own songs, and Americans rollerblading and breakdancing.

Gu Tingyun, blessed with keen senses, soon noticed that they were being followed — and there were many of them.

But he remained calm and composed on the outside.

"Cheek!"

Within a short while, they were surrounded by over a dozen black sedans.

A group of burly American men in black suits stepped out of the cars. They lined up on both sides, their muscular arms resting behind them, expressionless faces looking intimidating.

Seeing this situation and the badges on their uniforms, the faces of the Americans on the streets instantly changed as they turned on their heels and fled, not even bothering to take their meals with them.
