Transmigration: From Dragon Princess To Pampered Granddaughter
Chapter 449 - 450: For the Young Master

Chapter 449: Chapter 450: For the Young Master

Although Dabai was still young, its size was considerably larger than an average wolf.

Its front paws were pressing down on Li Chunhua’s chest and stomach, almost as if they were about to squeeze out her organs and intestines. The pain was so intense it was as if she’d fallen and landed straight on her buttocks on the ground.

What was more terrifying was that its sharp fangs were now touching her slender neck. It felt like at any moment it would bite down at her neck fiercely.

Li Chunhua was terrified, her soul almost left her body. She couldn’t even muster the strength to beg for mercy. Her face was white as a sheet and her lips were trembling uncontrollably.

Don’t!

Don’t bite her!

However, Dabai simply stared at her for a few seconds with its cold, bloodthirsty gaze without biting down. It emitted a low growl from its throat, chilling to the bone.

Its young master had told it not to bite people indiscriminately, so it retracted its fangs and stepped back.

The moment it retreated, Li Chunhua immediately turned over on the ground, trembling, and began to scramble towards the door with all her limbs.

This beast was too terrifying!

Dabai lay back down in its original spot and continued licking its fur. Yet, it placed one of its front paws on a rabbit.

This was for its young master. No one else could touch it!

Before they knew it, three days had passed and Helian Qiao was still unconscious.

On the morning of the fourth day, Gu Tingyun sat by the bedside, reading a book in his hand aloud– "Water Margin"– to the sleeping hamster in perfect, measured Mandarin.

Chen Jianjun had bought the book from a nearby library the first afternoon. He thoughtfully bought a children’s edition with phonetic notation, even though Gu, the young master, didn’t need it.

Ma Xiulian and Chen Dazhu, who were in the room, and the young woman in the neighboring bed, were all listening with rapt attention. The captivating story line had undeniably drawn them in.

The young woman had moved in two days ago.

She watched Gu Tingyun, who looked so gentle and refined, and thought—his Mandarin pronunciation was even more standard than hers, and his tone had obvious ups and downs but lacked some emotional depth.

Helian Qiao was still sleeping, yet her face was a healthy pinkish tone, and her breathing was steady–she looked incredibly healthy.

At that moment, Chen Jianjun returned with breakfast, holding a bouquet of roses in his hand.

Ma Xiulian got up to take the flowers from him, replacing the tulips she bought yesterday that were on the bedside table.

Ever since Jiang Manyun brought a bouquet to the sickroom, she felt that having flowers in the room made it feel more alive. The fragrance of the flowers could supress the smell of the disinfectant as well.

Guibao’s sense of smell was keen–the sharp smell would certainly make him uncomfortable.

The young woman on the side observed that this family didn’t seem like they were from the countryside at all.

They replaced the bouquet every day, even though each one costed a whole nickel.

The little girl on the bed didn’t seem like she was from the countryside either. She was better nourished and better looking than any of her nieces and nephews. She was such a pretty child, obviously destined to become a beautiful woman.

They may have been in a sickroom, but they did not look sick at all.

The little boy who read "Water Margin" every day was so young, yet he knew more characters than most city childten.

As she was thinking this, she saw Chen Jianjun unpack the food box to reveal four large meat buns, causing her to swallow hard.

Even city folks couldn’t afford to eat meat buns every day!

After replacing the tulips in the trash can with roses, Ma Xiulian too saw the meat buns, and felt a little distressed: "Why did you buy four again? From now on, buy two. You and Tingyun eat the meat buns, and your father and I will eat steamed cornbread."

One never knew when Guibao would awake, so they needed to save money to give him the best nutrition shots!

"Okay, I got it," was Chen Jianjun’s typical response.

He would never merely sit and watch his parents eat steamed cornbread while he and his son feasted on meat buns.

"Tingyun, let’s eat first."
