Chapter 443: Chapter 444: Why Do We Need to Get Injected?
Chen Jianjun followed closely behind and took advantage of when no one was around to lean in and quietly say to her, "Mom, last night Guibao said she was going to save my sister-in-law and her child, so she might be in a deep sleep because she expended all her mana and is very tired."
Hearing this, Ma Xiulian was shocked, and her face revealed a sudden understanding.
No wonder!
No wonder as soon as Guibao entered, she gave birth to the child even though the elder daughter-in-law was in imminent danger.
At that time, she thought that it was only due to Guibao’s blessing that the elder daughter-in-law and her child were safe. She didn’t expect that Guibao had actually saved them herself.
Thinking of this, Ma Xiulian perked up; it would be alright as long as the heavens weren’t planning on taking Guibao back!
She would find a chance later to tell her husband, so he wouldn’t have to worry all the time.
Chen Jianjun was wondering, though, just how exactly did Gu Tingyun know that Guibao had merely fallen asleep from exhaustion?
After returning to the ward, he examined the six-year-old boy without showing any emotion.
After a while, Gu Tingyun suddenly lifted his head and looked at him, "Uncle, do you have something to say to me?"
He had detected it the moment he was observed.
"Oh, I just wanted to ask if you are hungry. It’s noon already, what do you want to eat? I can go and buy it." Chen Jianjun asked, maintaining his usual demeanor.
He was secretely amazed at Tingyun’s sharp senses; after all, he had been specially trained, and he could quite effectively hide his emotions and line of sight.
But he didn’t expect to be so easily caught by a six-year-old child.
"Anything is fine." Gu Tingyun casually replied.
Chen Jianjun nodded, turned around and asked his parents, "Mom, Dad, I’m going to buy food. What would you like to eat?"
"Anything, let your dad accompany you." Ma Xiulian gave Chen Dazhu a nudge, wanting the fourth child to also tell Chen Dazhu about Guibao’s rescue.
Not long after, the father and son came back with the food, which was quite substantial with both meat and vegetables.
Chen Jianjun handed the boxed lunch to Gu Tingyun, "Let’s eat."
The young master Gu Tingyun thanked him and took it.
After Chen Jianjun came back, he didn’t continue observing him; perhaps it was just that Gu Tingyun’s senses were too acute and he had detected that Guibao was just asleep.
The Chen family hadn’t eaten breakfast, their stomachs were growling with hunger, but because they were worried about Guibao, they had no appetite. They only finished their meals to avoid wasting food.
Just as they finished eating, the nurse came in carrying a tray, walked over to the bedside, placed the items on the bedside table, bent down to draw Guibao’s arm from the blanket, and told the family members, "Since the patient is unconscious and can’t eat, the doctor has prescribed a nutrient injection. I’m going to give it to her now."
With that said, she stood by the bed, picked up the syringe from the metal tray, held it upright and tapped it with her fingertip.
Seeing the sharp needle, Gu Tingyun’s eyes suddenly turned icy cold. Guibao was very sensitive to pain!
However, he also knew that this injection was necessary. When his grandfather was hospitalized before, he too had to receive nutrient injections.
Ma Xiulian, however, wore a worried expression on her face and asked, "Didn’t the doctor say she’s alright? Then why does she need an injection?"
She didn’t understand what a nutrient injection was, only knowing that this needle was going to be inserted into Guibao’s body.
Normally, whenever Guibao had even a slight scrape on her body, she would be distressed beyond words.
"Ma’am, this is a nutrient injection. It’s vital for sustaining life. If she doesn’t eat or drink, her body won’t be able to handle it." The nurse explained while she picked up a cotton ball with tweezers, soaked it in alcohol and started to disinfect Guibao’s plump little wrist.
Gu Tingyun resisted his impulse to snatch Guibao’s hand back, and silently told himself that this was for her own good.
