Chapter 363: Chapter 364: Something’s Not Right

But he was stone-faced and uncommunicative, so no one noticed.

The rest of the Chen family, however, breathed a sigh of relief. If even the little girl, Guibao, wasn’t put off by him, then he must be easy to get along with.

"Guibao, the water is heated. Grandma is going to give you a bath."

Ma Xiulian had heated the water, grabbed clean clothes, and came over to carry Helian Qiao into the bathroom.

After the bath, Ma Xiulian hoisted the little girl onto the bed and gently rubbed cream onto her small hands, chubby cheeks, and little behind, commenting, "Our Guibao smells just heavenly now."

Her little behind was so plump, soft, and smooth, that she barely dared to touch it.

Helian Qiao squirmed about on the bed, laughing uncontrollably: "It tickles, grandma, apply it faster."

Chen Dazhu sat on the bed the whole time, quietly taking in the tender display between grandmother and granddaughter.

After Guibao had fallen asleep, Ma Xiulian straightforwardly asked, "Old man, why were you upset earlier?"

Having been married for so long, others wouldn’t be able to pick up on it, but she could immediately tell when he was unhappy.

Chen Dazhu grumbled, "Guibao has only been gone for a day, and she’s already taken a liking to the elder of the Gu family."

Upon hearing this, Ma Xiulian couldn’t help but laugh, playfully asking, "Then why didn’t you ask if Guibao likes her own grandfather?"

"How could I ask something like that, as a grown man? It would be terribly awkward!" Chen Dazhu complained bitterly, dragging on his cigarette.

Ma Xiulian laughed heartily at this, consoling him, "Then I’ll help you ask her tomorrow, okay?"

She was certain, even without asking, that Guibao loved the two of them dearly.

It’s one thing to know it, however, but to hear her say it aloud would be even more delightful.

"Eh, if you want to ask, go ahead." Chen Dazhu weakly coughed, feigning indifference.

Just keep kidding yourself!

Ma Xiulian, observing the eager Chen sitting on the edge of the bed as she dressed Guibao the next day, turned to the little girl and asked, "Guibao, do you like grandma?"

Without hesitation, Helian Qiao nodded her head, softly saying, "Like!"

"Grandma loves Guibao the most, too!"

Upon hearing this, a jubilant Ma Xiulian came over, planted two kisses on Guibao’s cheeks, and then fell silent.

After a while, unable to resist, Chen Dazhu sent a forlorn look her way, why hadn’t she continued asking?

What about him!

Barely able to stifle her laughter, Ma Xiulian continued, "So, does Guibao like grandpa?"

"Like!"

Without any hesitation, Helian Qiao nodded once again, and after a moment’s thought, added, "I love grandpa and grandma the most."

The sweetness of her gentle baby voice practically melted their hearts.

A wide grin spread across Chen Dazhu’s face, and he couldn’t help but smile. However, as a grown man, he felt awkward expressing the same affectionate words as his wife.

So, as soon as Guibao had finished dressing, he promptly declared, "Let’s go, grandpa will carry you to wash your face."

Ma Xiulian knew he was happy, but she still warned him, "Be gentle. Don’t scrub Guibao’s face too hard."

Men tend to have heavy hands, not knowing their own strength.

Chen Dazhu nodded, "I understand."

He was well aware of how delicate Guibao’s skin was and made sure to be extra careful. He was afraid that if he used too much force, she might get hurt.

Watching them, Li Chunhua, who had been helping with breakfast, rolled her eyes in secret.

She knew it was impossible to ward off her in-laws, yet it still annoyed her to no end!
